I decided it was time for a replacement of my furnace/air conditioning system and wanted to get it done before it got too cold. I went online to find a contractor in my area. Kevin Kohl, the owner of Kohl Heating Services, was the only one out of three contractors contacted to respond to my inquiry that same day. We discussed all aspects of this project over the phone and the next day I received a free in-home estimate. Having recently experienced another contractor overcharging me for poor air conditioning repair work, I was a very cautious and hesitant customer. Kevin addressed my concerns and assured me that his company performed high quality, efficient work at a fair price, with reliable follow-up service. These are old time values that are hard to find nowadays. After listening to Kevin and receiving the free in-home estimate the next day, I decided to go with Kohl Heating Services for my new heating/air conditioning system and didn't even bother to get any other estimates. The employees who performed the work, Sean, Milo, and Ron proved to be extremely talented and knowledgeable in their field, customizing the job to our house. They were efficient, professional, and easy to communicate with. The entire Trane heating/air conditioning system was installed within 2 days, thanks to their diligent work. All of my concerns were met and it was a joy to work with them. My husband, an airplane mechanic, verified the quality of the work they performed. Both my husband and I offer our highest recommendation of Kohl Heating Services to anyone looking for heating/air conditioning repair work. We'll also recommend them to our friends and neighbors.

Here's the back-story- We called Gillece first, since they had been here before and was generally satisfied. They wanted to charge me $95 for a service call but I told them I had a $39 coupon off their website. (Why wouldn't they just offer that in the first place?) But this time I called them about 2:30 PM and requested same day service. In spite of a few pro-active calls from their scheduler, letting me know they we very busy and running late, I was willing to wait. But by 8 PM they still had not arrived, and asked if they could come in the following day instead. I asked about their same day service guarantee, but they said to get that you had to call before noon. So we scheduled for the next day, and they did show up as promised. It was actually the service manager that showed up. Aside from the diagnosis of the bad compressor, he told us about some other issues with the unit that should have been fixed before, that contributed to our unit failing. He said previous technicians should have corrected them, but didn't. Well guess what? His company had been here 2-3 times before to service the unit! Confronted with this, he brushed it off by saying "well, I try to tell my guys to look for those things". As it turns out, the issue of the coil leaking water into the unit was a design defect, and a Service Bulletin from Lennox was supposedly made, which we were never notified about, and no Tech ever discovered. So we definitely were leery about doing business with those guys. AVOID Gillece. My next call was to Knoechel Heating Co, also well-rated on Angies. They had an Angies coupon for a free second opinion for a failed compressor. The tech came out promptly, and confirmed the diagnosis. We did not get a price from them though for a replacement unit, because we did not want to go with Lennox again. That's when we called Kohl.

Our 20+ year old heating and ac system was beginning to cause us reliability issues and the recent heat wave was enough to push it to its limit. No one wants to undertake this kind of expense without a definite need. We started with a service call to Kohl based solely on the reviews posted here on Angie's list after our ac unit blew out. Although it was repaired, after consultation we decided it was time to upgrade. We got bids on the top rated systems from Trane, Lennox, and Carrier. The confidence we had in Trane and Kevin after follow up discussions and the questions he answered thoroughly and professionally made our choice fairly easy. That and the competitiveness and fairness of his proposal really did it. He was able to accommodate our schedule on installation and his guys were punctual and efficient. Mike, Sean, and Milo were the ultimate professionals. Considerate, courteous, friendly and extremely competent, the installation went far better than we even imagined. They were pleasant to have in the house and were so clean that they left our place better than when they started! Sean did a great job of explaining everything along the way and gave us great advice. I've used other heating contractors in the past for service but no more! I've found my permanent one. These guys are superb and I recommend them highly. And the system has been awesome!

We have a 30 year old home and the original heat and air conditioning unit needed replaced. Kevin Kohl was contacted after I read good things on this site. He did not disappoint! Kevin and his company replaced our entire heating and air conditioning system in two days. They came and looked at the job same day, we received the written quotation the next day and after not hearing from several other firms we hired Kohl and could not have been more pleased.They were professional, extremely knowledgable, fairly priced and just did a wonderful job. They will be our only HVAC company from now on. Do not hesitate to use Kevin.

Called for an appointment for a furnace inspection. Spent 10 minutes taking information from me; never called back. I have no idea why he wasted his time and my time.

The process was enjoyable and educational. Ron showed up and was ready to go immediately. He knew about my system and started stepping through checking the HVAC. He was there, because two times a year we get out system checked. I asked him a multitude of questions about the system, how it is working, and how we are managing our HVAC. He was extremely nice and helpful. The entire time I spent with him talking about how things look and asking him what was going on and he was more than able and engaging. I have had other companies in to see the system and he know more than any of them. Ron went over the entire system and noticed something that was suppose to be done during install and he went out to his truck and fixed it. The fix was simple, but he spent the time and energy to fix it. I was impressed with the honesty that was exhibited and how much time he spent with me as a customer to service my equipment. The price was less than a use to pay, so better service, better price, it was an overall great experience. I will be using them in the future.

They were on time and stayed late to complete the job, Shaun the installer was polite, courteous and personable. He cleaned up the entire mess he made, and hauled off all the remnants of my old system. I would recommend these guys to all my friends. Great job!!

The entire process from the heat load evaluation to proposal to installation went very smoothly. I wanted to do this work in the off season where no heating or cooling would be required and the work could be planned for an optimum price. By 3 PM on the first day, the new A/C was up and running. A day later the new furnace was running. The Kohl employees are real pros. They worked in my finished basement protecting everything with drop cloths. I'm retired now so I got to watch and ask a 100 questions. Every one of the guys were customer oriented and knowledgeable in the HVAC field. The work was performed in a professional manner. Kohl's was also very helpful with my rebate applications.

Not only did the technician arrive almost two hours earlier than expected, but he was very thorough, knowledgeable and a quick worker. He had our A/C up and running in no time. Within a few minutes he diagnosed the problem as a coolant leak and very dirty filter. After repairing the leak, recharging the system and cleaning the filter we had ice cold air in our home. I couldn't be happier. Kohl's Heating Services really saved the day! It's forecasted to be in the upper 80s-low 90s all week and we have a toddler. I am so thankful that they were there when we needed them and in such a quick appointment! Thanks, Ron and Kohl Heating Services!

I contacted this firm on a mid-day Wednesday. They promised a return call later that afternoon to schedule a routine service call for Thursday p.m. or first thing Friday. When I still had received no call by late Thursday and called in again, they informed me that "maybe next Tuesday" was the current promise. This is not acceptable to me; maybe it is to the rest of the world.

The workers were very good. I thought they did a marvelous job. It was a very nice and very positive experience. The house is very cool, so I guess it's working fine. They also did a good job after the installation by explaining to us how to operate it.

Highly recommended. Great service at a reasonable price. One of my A/C units was not functioning...the fan was running, but no cold air. I called around 8:30 in the morning and a technician was there by 10:30...talk about service!! Very professional and very knowledgable. He showed me how to clean my filter, checked everything else and replaced the dual capacitor on the AC unit. He is already gone at 11:30 and even had to run to the supply house to get a part. Cost: $79.95 for the service call and $109 for installation of the part.

They were quick to give me a quote (by email, which I appreciated). They answered all of my questions & were very knowledgeable. I decided to replace my HVAC in part because of the tax incentives. After calling them to schedule an appointment for a quote, they called me back to recommend that I register for the special state rebate immediately since the funds were almost depleted. It was something I wouldn't have done that soon, had they not told me. I appreciated that level of customer service and it was a big reason why I chose them over the other companies I considered. Their installers did the work over a two day period & did their best to minimize any mess or dirt in my house, including laying down cardboard to walk on instead of my carpet. I would definitely not hesitate to use them again or recommend them to anyone needing HVAC work.

Project came in on time and on budget. Installation crew did a great job. Clean up was great and we were properly trained on the operation of the new system.

They are a local company and it's a family owned company. My husband has worked with them before so we used them for the air conditioning work this time. The owner is a very nice person and he is very polite. He works along with his sons and his sons are very polite when they come out. They know what they have to do and they are very punctual. Their price is reasonable that is it's neither cheap nor too expensive.
