Emergency Services Offered
Services we offer
Water Mitigation. Fire Damage Restoration. Smoke & Odor Removal. Mold Remediation.
Description of Work: Now when I say they didn't preform services, they were contacted to actually do emergency restoration services by our insurance company. They said our roof could not be buttoned up, what they should have said is they didn't want to do the amount of work it would take to button up our roof after a lightning strike/fire. After my insurance adjuster came out he was upset and said it could be buttoned up and called Firedex of Pittsburgh. They came out and built support under the burned rafters and closed up the structure. The Firedex of Butler also insisted we needed to get as much of the personal belongings out of our home that might be salvageable. We took their advice. We'd never lived through a house tragedy before, and didn't know. Well with all the wet damage things in our garage made it impossible for the personal belongings adjuster to properly assess the damages to our personal belongings. This cost us big and way under esitmated what it will cost to replace our personal belongings. We would have been much better off if they had not wasted our time by coming out to our home and doing nothing productive, It was a long drive for them and a long wait for us…and a waste of time.

Early in the week of 9/26/11, we called Firedex of Butler and spoke with Steve about removal of a dead mouse in our wall. The company had performed this type of service for us twice before with acceptable results. This time, Steve said that the company required a $400 deposit, to be made over the phone, before the work would be scheduled. He also told us that he couldn't say when the work would be done because he needed to check with the technicians' schedules. While we certainly understand needing to check with current jobs before scheduling our work, the requirement of a $400 deposit was not something we remember having to pay before. We also believe that the amount of the deposit needed was out of proportion to the job at hand. We called another company who did an exceptional job the day we called (something we didn't expect), and who charged us 1/4 of the price of the deposit Firedex required. It is possible that we would call Firedex in the future if we experienced water or smoke damage to our home, but frankly, we're concerned about how we would be treated and what money would be required up front.
Description of Work: No services performed. See comments on experience.

We had a fire in our kitchen and Firedex came highly recommended. They came within two days of contacting them. The crews were here so rapidly, cleaning, boxing items, etc. My husband I were so impressed. However, that was in the beginning stages. Gradually they took members off of the team, who were reliable and did their job. They were here everyday for about 4 weeks, then the work dwindled. No correspondence from the site leader. It was few and far between. I had to contact him more times than not. The paint job in my dining room was poor. Drip marks were everywhere. Thick uneven circular marks around my sconces. Drip marks down my dining room walls, down my hard wood encasements and the kitchen walls as well. Foam the firemen used in combination with the ash from the fire, caused thick black foot prints and just smears across my hardwood floor. The team didn't even clean it, but SEALED it into the hardwood floor. When one of the site leaders was told about it, he just pretty much ignored what I had to say, numerous times. Then his team leader on the job actually argued with my husband and stated it looked like we had spilled something on it. IT WAS SEALED!!!! They sealed the hardwood floors in my children's room, which had clay on the floor. So, the clay was sealed into the floor was well. They claimed they wiped down my walls in my living room, foyer, stairwell, upstairs hallway and my childrren's room. When I moved back in, I cleaned the walls with just simple water and softener..and you would not believe the amount of soot I personally took off the walls. They left circular marks in the wall paper (it's old) so the coloring washed out of it. It was apparent, most of the wall was half hazardly washed in each room, if that. They left their paint cans outside for me to clean up. The cabinets for the kitchen were of cheap quality. the back panels pushed out on two of them. They ordered the wrong sizes of cabinets. I actually have less cabinet space now. The bulk head actually goes behind the corner cabinet, leaving the corner cabinet top part, sticking out. ( I left it go, because I just wanted them done and gone!) The paint job in the kitchen was horrendous! Drip marks down the walls. One wall was half hazardly painted. The door trim above my kitchen door to the outside was taken off. They used different wood than what was there, even different dimensions then the other encasement wood..glued it to the top to where it was actually pulling away fromt he wall, but held there with two boards propped on on paint cans. Apparently one of the boards had fallen...scratching the paint in a half moon across the wall and denting the bulkhead where it landed. But we were accused of doing that as well. (which we didn't) The plumbing under the sink was atrociously done. They didn't cap off the pipe for the dishwasher. Never said a word about it. I was only told not to use the right side of the sink because the faucet was leaking and I would have to replace it myself. Which I did immediately. After Firedex took the sink and faucet apart, they never bothered to notice the faucet nuts were melted? Really? But they put it back into place and then wondered why it was leaking? I'm not a plumber and caught that immediately! No leaking from the faucet at all after I replaced it. However, days later, when I was able to move back in, I washed a few loads of dishes by hand. When I opened the sink cupboard door, it was flooded. The side pipe to the dishwasher, was never capped off. Then the team leader on the site was argumentative about it and stated he told me this. Which he didn't. Then the site leader just rolled his eyes at me. The cabinet now had a good bit of water damage to it. They never put knobs on the cabinet doors. They attempted to say, "your old cabinets didn't have knobs on them, so we are not going to put knobs on them." So, I went out to the dumpster, pulled out the cabinets and took pictures of the knobs. Again, they were argumentative with me and I had to call my insurance adjustor and complain! I finally got my knobs..which were placed on crooked. The doors to the cabinets were crooked. Two of the drawers were uneven. The counter top did not even come out past the cabinets. I was told to caulk it! I've complained to the site leader numerous times. I have witnesses to this. He just ignored me. Finally, I had to call an attorney to find out what my rights were. I then wrote a long letter to the site manager. Some items were fixed. They repainted my kitchen wall. Which was worse the second time. I finally had requested one of the crew who was here at the start. She was wonderful, a hard worker and it appeared things were done when she was here. They sent her back to do the paint touch ups and another gentleman to fix my cabinets. I think it's a shame it took 3 months for a kitchen remodel and a dining room paint job to be performed. Then an additional 3 months to get any results after arguing with the site leader and team leader, and numerous complaints to the site manager. I will have to say, the site manager Randy, treated us with respect and made sure things were taken care of immediately. His site leader and team leader really need to listen to the client. Whether it's being paid by the insurance company or not, it is my house and I do pay the insurance. I also know my house is old and in need of a huge remodel. However, to be treated as though, my old house is not worth their time or effort, really upset me. My husband, my four children and I went through a horrible experience with the fire, period. They did not have to keep us displaced for such a long period of time, or have us move back into a house that was poorly remodeled in my opinion. The only person I received an apology from was the lady from their office who follows up on surveys and was not happy with the poor remarks I gave them. I would never recommend this company. If you use them, buy your own cabinets or demand to see them before they purchase them. Be on the site at all times. It seems this is the only way things get done. A few last things, the dry wall screws came out of the wall as well a third time. I had someone else come in two months ago and redo them AGAIN!!! They did pay for a man I had wanted to contract to redo my hardwood floors. He did an amazing and gorgous job!
