Carl and his team paid unbelievable attention to detail. The process was slow, but well worth the wait and to be expected based on the craftsmanship.

Project went very well. Stevens was very meticulous with measurements and shared a detailed CAD drawing of design prior to moving forward. They were able to match our cabinets perfectly. We get many compliments on the this part of the kitchen. We would highly recommend!

Simply put-Carl is absolutely top notch. He is a true professional who is enthusiastic about his work, precise with his design, pays close attention to detail, and takes great pride in his creations. Carl has innovative and creative ideas when it comes to the details of the piece he is creating, and if he sees any potential problems with size, or functionality, he will speak up and suggest a better idea. He is friendly, easy going, arrives when he says he will, and leaves the worksite in great shape. We had one miscommunication (my fault) regarding the desk/piece, and Carl went the extra step to remove it, and adjust it, to make sure that I had the piece done the way that I wanted, even though it was an obvious inconvenience to him. Also, I also saw a custom beverage cabinet that Carl designed for a friend, and it was truly unique and breathtaking-a true work of art. I recommend him without reservation.

Everything was fantastic. The attention to detail and quality of work by far has been the best we have ever dealt with over 20 years if working with various contractors. If you are looking for customized woodworking this is the place to go.

They were really good. Price was expensive.

They wanted $900 so I just bought one from Pottery Barn Kids. He told me he didn't think it would be cost effective for me to have him do it. He got back to me right away. The quote was way high. For materials and labor, I don't think it would have taken them that much. He was on top of it, but I decided it was really high. I wasn't asking him to do woodcarving. I just wanted a bookcase. He was on time with it. He replied quickly. My biggest pet peeve is when people don't even get back to me and don't show up when they say they are going to. He got back to me promptly. He turned on business.

They are beautiful- design fit the architecture of our home and were carefully stained to match wainscoting. Outstanding work. We will use him for future services without hesitation.

This was our second project with Carl Stevens. Once again, he blew us away with the quality and creativity of his work. We have an arch top entryway and the original door was over 70 years old and you could see daylight coming through it. We wanted a unique speak easy design with and Carl was only too happy to accommodate us. We had priced out "custom" arch top doors at Lowes and they were actually around the same price as Carl's custom made doors, and of course not really custom. Not only is the door beautiful, and almost like a work of art, Carl spent the extra time to make sure it was hung perfectly. It works like a charm, it is so smooth and it is so beautiful. Forgot to add, Carl spent time going over different kinds of wood with us, since we have a southern exposure that always gets a lot of light and heat, so we wanted a door/wood that would withstand those conditions. We ended up choosing cypress both for its qualities and the color. Once more, I cannot say enough good things about Carl Stevens and Stevens WoodWorks.

Carl is a true professional and a true artisan. He listened carefully to what we wanted and offered suggestions that improved the quality and fit of the final product. We have a 1928 old stone house with a lot of pre-existing wood built-ins and we needed precision both in "aesthetic" and in "wood stain." He delivered and we could not be more happy with the results. We will use him again - hopefully soon.

I had a huge number of albums (vinyl) that I had not been able to keep out due to space limitations, a huge number of CDs and a lot of books. Carl (the owner) designed a beautiful office/music room carefully engineering the space to accommodate all my albums. cds and books inside beautiful cherry cabinetry and a beautiful custom desk with a copper top. I cannot say enough good things about Carl and the work he does. He is very accommodating and definitely designs and builds to the needs/desires of the customer. We plan on having Carl come back and create a custom arch top door for our entryway in the fall when he has time. The project took longer then anticipated, but the results where well worth it. I would much rather have a quality job that runs over the quoted time frame than a hurried shoddy job that gets done on time. Carl is both a master carpenter and designer. What a gem!

We met with Carl first back in October of 2013 and described the project. He was busy with other projects at the time and let us know he could start work in January. We worked through the design phase and he was responsive to all our questions. We thought the initial proposal he provided us was too expensive but after we talked further about scope, the cost became more reasonable. We signed the contract and wrote our first check to Carl back on December 15, 2013. It took two rounds of trying in order to match the stain on the existing cabinets. Once that was done, Carl placed the order for all of the cabinets. They did not actually arrive until the middle of April. Carl started building and installation then and completed the installation of the base cabinets. But then we had a pause in the action while we found a granite countertop and had it installed. That was installed on May 9th. Carl came back then to install the wall cabinets but figured out the corner cabinet he ordered was the wrong size so a new one had to be ordered. Long story short, he wrapped up most of the work last week. It is still not 100% complete as we are waiting on a couple of additional cabinet doors (to replace ones that were ordered but arrived damaged). The (almost) finished product looks beautiful and Carl clearly takes pride in his work and does a really good job. The quality is top-notch. We let him come and go to our house as he pleased and did not have any concerns about him being in the house while we were not there. However, this has been a really long process. Some of the delays were not in Carl's control but unfortunately, for a couple of months between the middle of April and last week, there were tools and half-built cabinets in one of our garage spots so we could not use it. We are looking forward to being 100% complete, hopefully soon!

I recently purchased a new home and wanted to have coffered ceilings installed before we moved into the house. Further, we were moving from out of state, so most of the communication occurred via e-mail and phone calls. We obtained quotes from three service providers. Carl was the most responsive of the three contractors. He responded to my initial request within minutes and provided some food for thought in our initial communications. My availability to meet with Carl was limited, as I was only in town for one weekend to meet with the various contractors. While Carl was not available that weekend to provide the quote, he sent two of his team members, who spent about 30 minutes with my wife and I discussing options. Carl followed up with detailed drawings and a quote. While Carl was the highest of the three quotes, I decided to go with him due to his responsiveness and professionalism. Also, knowing that the work would have to be done unsupervised (i.e., while we were out of state), I felt most comfortable having Carl and his team access the house while we were away. It took Carl and his team about a week to complete the job. Since we could not be there on site, Carl sent periodic status pictures so we could see how the work was progressing. The ceiling looks great. We could also tell via the pictures that Carl and his team took cleanliness very seriously. There was thick pastic sheeting covering all doorways and thick paper covering our wood floors. The house was also clean upon our retrun. Its also important to note that I had a painting contractor in the house during the same period of time. Carl did a great job of working with the painters to coordinate schedules. I appreciated that the two teams were able to manage the details among themselves. We plan to use Carl and his team again in the future.

A drawer in my kitchen was damaged by rodents and I decided to replace it. Getting a new drawer (and hardware, which I accidentally discarded with the drawer) would have cost almost as much as getting an entirely new drawer base. Stevens Woodworks built an exact replica of the drawer, provided the hardware, and very carefully installed it so that it fit just right. It was a great job, and I will be using them again for any woodworking-related needs.

Carl was a life saver! We had decided to remodel our bathroom summer of 2012. I wanted a craftsman style look; new trim, window, ceramic tile floor, vanity and radiator box cover. The vanity was the focal point of the room and needed to be custom built to fit in the odd opening. I had hired a contractor at the referral of a friend, which turned out to be a total nightmare! Everything he did had to be removed by us and we're still working on the trim, baseboard, window etc..... However, we still needed someone to finish the vanity. We found Carl on Angie's list and seeing the comments from his other clients, decided to have him come take a look and see what he could do for us. Carl was very professional, took plenty of time to speak to us regarding our concerns and the style we were hoping for. We wanted dove tailed drawers that slid smoothly, made out of good quality wood, along with the craftsman peg style look on the doors and tenons on the faceplate. The vanity that was already partially installed could not be removed due to the granite and sink having been already installed, so Carl had some definite figuring to do! He made it work and I am so very pleased with the outcome! It looks exactly like I pictured and the woodbox radiator cover, which is also craftsman style, has gotten so many comments by family and friends! Even though we have a few things left on our list to redo, I am happy to walk into my bathroom and see drawers and doors instead of pipes and crooked boards!! I would recommend Carl to anyone who wants a job done right the first time!! Well done Carl!!

He finally got back to me and said that he was unable to do the work for the price quoted. I am very disappointed. I asked for referrals and a time frame of when things could free up and he was not interested.

The project took longer than expected, but I told Carl I was not in a hurry, so there was no deadline. It was an easy transaction. We dealt mostly by email. Carl submitted his design by email. I approved it. He emailed me a contract. It was pretty amazing to see him deliver and install the shelf unit alone

Overall the project went exactly as planned. Every detail that was planned was completed in a high quality manner. The only negative was that the project took longer than was anticipated. I would use him again without hesitation

We are extremely pleased with the work done by Carl. When we contacted him he was able to come quick to take a look at the project. We were doing some renovation in our kitchen and needed to add cabinets to match the existing ones. He was able to match them so well in design and color that no one notices a difference. We are happy customers. He is very professional and nice. We will definitely hire him again for future work. Highly recommended!

Great- Carl was very responsive by email and phone and adjusted the design to help us stay within our budget. Delivery and assembly went very smoothly. Turnaround time from initial call to delivery was probably just a couple weeks. He added some nice touches that really made the desk look great.

Found the contractor on Angie's list Owner care, pleasured, gave excellent advice on type of construction type of wood and finish. After several weeks brought the finishes product to our home and installed it.

Very happy with fast turn around on initial design and follow-up questions all in the same day that I originally contacted them. Owner came on site to take final measurements and discuss last minute design changes. Made 50% deposit payment and finished product was ready for installation in 10 business days. Very happy with custom oak storage lockers. Includes bench and shoe storage as well as storage bin above lockers. Relocated an electrical outlet at no additional charge. Very nice work. Would highly recommend Stephens Woodworks.

Every time I use them, I'm impressed with their design, quality of work, and customer service. The owner (Carl) is knowledgeable on a wide range of topics and is always able to present a range of options for the solution I need. Further, he does what he says he'll do when he says he'll do it - a trait not nearly common enough in residential home improvement. It is such a pleasure to work with someone who believes that his job isn't don't until I agree that it's complete.
