CRAIG APPLIANCE

I'm a big fan of the big box stores, but since buying my house just over a year and a half ago, I've bought all my appliances at Craig Appliance in Connellsville. The general assumption most people make is that smaller, locally owned, non-franchised mom-n-pop (or in this case, son-n-dad) stores like Craig's must, of necessity, charge higher prices for their products to compensate for lower volume sales and less bulk discounts than big box stores. Not true here! My latest purchase was a new washer and dryer set. After much research, I decided on a rather pricey pair that almost never goes on sale. I had a 10% discount available at the big box store, but went to Craig Appliance, where Barry gladly matched the discounted price and then subtracted another $10 off each appliance. By the way, the brand I chose is one that the store normally doesn't carry, but Craig's can generally get a special order within a few days, which they did. I actually bought and paid for the washer and dryer at the end of December because I was afraid the electric company's Energy Star rebate program would expire, but my quandary was where to put them while contractors were just starting a renovation job on my utility room. Barry graciously agreed to store the appliances until I was ready for delivery (no charge), over a month later. When I called to give the go-ahead, the wonderful two-man delivery team had my appliances installed and running the next afternoon. They were also enormously helpful when I made my previous purchase of kitchen appliances. The entire staff is friendly, down to earth, laid back, and does not employ high-pressure sales tactics. If you are considering your options for new appliances, do your research and then go to Craig's.
