We contacted this company (AJ Waterproofing) because of their high ratings on Angie's List. Unfortunately they do not service our area in NJ. But they were willing to speak with us to assist in our options for a solution. They called us and provided information concerning our situation. The professionally and friendliness is outstanding. I can only imagne the quality of their work. I would absolutely recommend this company for the areas they service.

I have 2 ft of water in my basement. I'm a little stressed because I never dealt with this before. Caroline was soo helpful. She unfortunately is too booked up to help (everyone is dealing with flooding basements right now). I need to have my basement pumped first. She took a good bit of time giving suggestions on how to find someone else and what to do once my basement dries out. I will call them for sure when I'm ready for waterproofing. Good customer service.

They did a very good job at the work in the past. I was pleased to see they were still open and in business and we plan on giving them a call soon for work we are about to have done. I recall no complaints from using there service in the past and would recommend and use them in the future.

We are thinnking about selling our home and were worried that the dampness would be a handicap. Mold grew on the walls and required occasional cleaning to keep it at bay. Mr. Di Elsi came in, told us what needed to be done and then proceeded to do it with the help of his staff. I have waited for a few months before making this report because I wanted to be sure that the problem was fixed. Now we know. August 2011 was the wettest in history and was followed by Hurricane Irene. We did not get one drop of water or moisture. One concern is that there are several small cracks in the newly installed concrete. I called Mr. Di Elsi and he explained that these occurred in about 70% of cases and it was not a thing to worry about. So far, it doesn't appear to be a problem but if it is, I am sure that he will be here to stand by his work.

Why we called A. J.: Over several years, we talked to people from other national/regional chains and left messages with a couple of other local waterproofing companies. We felt the chains were more concerned with getting their commissions while pressuring us to commit, and the local guys just blew us off without calling us back. Finally, we found A. J. here on Angie's List and were inspired by the excellent grades and reviews. Our experience: A. J. has been in this business for over 30 years for a reason. You deal with the owner A. J. himself, not a salesman. He's a direct-speaking, no-BS expert. His price was extremely fair (lower than we expected), he told us exactly what we needed without padding for his profit, and was clear about what we would get for our money. All in all, he was concerned with solving our problem, not hawking a "system." He and his team delivered incredibly fast-- only two days. We've never seen a contractor team work so fast, focused, and efficiently. Both days, the team showed up at the minute A. J. said they would. At day 1 arrival, they immediately got to work, immediately and thoroughly covering all floors and nearby surfaces and furniture where they would be coming in and out. They swiftly demolished and hauled away everything we asked them to, worked like a well-oiled machine for a solid 8 hours each day, and left our basement freshly painted, bright, and clean. A. J. himself was on site. We've had several severe storms since A. J.'s team did their work, and our basement is bone-dry and clean-smelling. We needed some follow-up for a couple of minor things and A. J. addressed them within a week after the job. Our opinion: We wish we knew about A. J. Waterproofing sooner, but better late than never! They're the real deal--they're excellent at what they do and in how they do it. Already, we've recommended them without reservation to several people.

I found this company on Angie's List after several referrals fell through. The reviews are accurate. These guys were awesome. Between Monday and Tuesday I contacted the office and the job was completed. To say they are professional is an understatement. I have been unimpressed with some of my recent contractors. These guys restored my faith. They do exactly what is in their contract and they do it the right way. Thanks for the hard work.

They did a great job. The job was done quickly and looked great. They did everything we asked and more. We received quotes from 4 companies, we choose AJ and I would make the exact same decision in a heartbeat!

AJ has done our basement waterproofing and we have recommended him to others. This time he diagnosed the problem as I described it to him over the phone. He arranged to come even though we weren't home, replaced the pump, cleaned up completely, and finished in less than 2 hours.

The job went very smoothly. They worked long days; they were very clean about the area when they left. The painter came a total of three times to put extra coats on the walls as promised. The entire job took about two and a half days. The men were professional, neat and clean.

I had three estimates and choose AJ Water Proofing because he gave me an affordable price and included a larger area of the french drain than the other estimates. He had also noticed an area in the basement, which the two other contractors had missed. His suggestions for correcting the water problem and restoring the walls were excellent and were included in his price! We had a terrible downpour the second day of the job, the sump pump had not been hooked up yet and there wasn't a drop of water in the basement! The men had done an excellent job, the french drain was working! I was impressed with the amount of work that was completed in two and a half days. AJ is professional, honest, and dependable. He and his crew are respectful, polite and they treated my home with care. I highly recommend AJ Water Proofing!

I went through Angie's List and found three companies that were highly-rated, this being one of the companies. They have a great rating and they probably perform quality work, however, I had an unpleasant interaction with them today so I probably won't use them. I called this company and we set up an appointment for Friday (today) for 2pm. At 2 pm, I received a call from them to let me know that they weren't able to arrive at that specific time, another job was ran longer, etc etc. I told him that would be okay, I didn't have a problem with him arriving later. He then asked me for a description of the work that I needed done, so I gave him an idea. He told me then that he wasn't sure if driving out to my house was going to be "worth his while". He started giving me suggestions, trying to diagnose the situation based solely on my description. He started giving me advice about what to do even though he's never seen the basement, which was irritating and in my opinion, was unprofessional. This upset me, so I told him not to come out then and then hung up. He called me right back and asked me to give him 30 more seconds to talk to me about the situation. Within that thirty seconds, he told me that he would be ten minutes from my location. I don't understand why he'd make such a big deal about making this "worth his while" if he already planned to be within ten minutes of my location for another appointment scheduled for 3pm. I did not like the attitude of this man. Whether this company does good work or bad work, I don't know, but I did not like this entire interaction and I do not plan on using this company. I am very disappointed since they are highly rated and have great reviews, but the conversation today upset me and it still upsets me, even a few hours later.

Overall good experience so far. Since the work was only performed a few weeks ago, we haven't had too many storms to test the french drain, but in the couple of times that it has rained the basement seems very dry. I feel confident that if by chance we did have a problem, AJ would be out the next day to fix it under the warranty for the job.

This job was performed in an excellent fashion from start to finish. A prompt estimate was provided with two life time warranty options for repair. One for doing the repair on the exterior of the wall and one for performing the repair on the interior of the wall. Once I selected an option the contractor arrived on the job as planed. He completed the job in a timely, neat, and professional fashion. When he left there were no signs of the work being performed. There was no mess left behind. The job site was returned to "better than" original condition. To date after several rains there are no signs of water in the garage.

I have not used them, but I thought the experience was very good.

The man runs a tight ship, and stayed on the job, carefully supervising a hard-working crew. It's a dirty job, but they covered everything we had stored in the basement. Move shelving and cartons out of the way. Removed laundry sinks to make room to jack-hammer a channel in the concrete floor -- and later replaced the sinks, which continue to work perfectly. The job was done well, in a workmanlike manner. A couple of weeks later I was unsure about the sump pump operation and he came promptly to give me instructions.

AJ personally answered his phone (on the first try to contact him), came to see the job and provided references immediately when asked (both of which had used AJ for several jobs and highly recommended him not only for his work, but for the honest, responsible person he is). AJ attended and participated in the work (no subcontracting). He and his workers were incredibly neat and there was no mess at the end of the day. Extra work had to be done (more drywall had to be removed than anticipated) - which he called me about and did the same day as the installation. AJ was very attentive to all the details and made sure I was satisfied with the work. All of this was done, from initial contact to completion of the job, within a week. It was the absolute best experience I have ever had with a contractor.

They did a great job. He gave me a decent price. I had a small problem the day after the job and they came right away and fixed it. They started working when they said they would and they worked everyday. The owner, AJ came every day to check on the job. They were very neat, clean and polite. You can't ask for much better than that! I would absolutely use them again if I had a basement. They gave me a list of references as soon as I asked for them and I called about 6. Every single one recommended him!
