+ 0 moreWithout question, working with Rittenhouse has been the smoothest, easiest most pleasant experience I have had with contractors in over 40 years of home ownership. Every aspect from the contracting to the execution was handled professionally, promptly and fairly. When questions arose, George was out quickly to respond and when issues of quality of workmanship came up, George usually found them and had them corrected before we had a chance to request it. The price was fair compared to other bids we received, but the quality of service has been unmatched.
Description of Work: We had a cedar deck that was rotting and needed to be replaced. George Metzler came out promptly upon our request for an estimate. He assured us that the underlying structure was sound but that the surface planking and railings could be replaced. We chose to use Ipe wood after considering alternatives including cedar, trex and mahogony. Rittenhouse also repainted our family room including a built in entertainment center that had been originally painted with oil based paint. They used a spray lacquer which provided a terrific hard shell finish. In additon, they did a number of small jobs which would have been difficult to get someone out to take care of.

+ 0 moreWe had a major leak in the soil pipe from the third floor to the basement. We hired a local plumber to replace the pipe on an emergency basis, but called Rittenhouse to do the long term plaster work, millwork and painting. It was March and April of a very bad, snowy winter, but they managed to complete the work as promised. The work was very complicated in a 100 year-old house, but they had the necessary expertise. While they were here we thought of other work that needed to be done. They were willing to do all of these small jobs that many such professional builders avoid. We called Rittenhouse to do the major repairs because they've done other work for us over the past 5-10 years. It was comforting to give them a key to the house, go to work every day and know they will get the work done, even in a complex job such as this that involved many weeks of coming and going.
Description of Work: Restored major plaster damage to bathroom and master bedroom walls and ceiling after interior plumbing leak. Involved plaster, repair to custom millwork and repair of bathroom wall and floor. Painted entire 500 sq foot bedroom walls,trim, 3 closets and ceiling. Other small interior work such as installing range hood, basement stair railing and grab bar in powder room. Additional exterior repairs to upper third-floor roof, gutters, exterior caulking on dozens of exterior windows and replacement of 4 basement windows.
