I don’t know how they could get much better than Denis and his company Philadelphia Brick and Stone Pointing. We did a LOT of research and got a number of estimates before deciding to hire Denis. We could not be more pleased with that decision. He was highly responsive; knew how to properly handle brick and stone work at our historic old property; worked to match the mortar material, color(s) and pointing technique; price was more than fair; and all work was done on time to a high standard. Denis clearly cares about his customers and the quality of his work. He is skilled, personable, incredibly hard-working, and went above and beyond. We not only hired him once, but twice, and hope we never have to use anyone else. There is a reason all his reviews are 5 stars. Add our 5 stars to the list!

Denis did great job with both pointing our house and chimney. Arrived on time and got the job done as specified. Also, cost was reasonable. Will definitely recommend him to friends and family.

Denis was excellent to work with. He provided an estimate to seal our chimney promptly and at a fine and fair price. The work was done shortly after. He showed up when he said he would, and completed the work in a timely fashion. His work is great- no leaks! We would have no hesitation about hiring him for future work.

Denis Dougherty of Philadelphia Brick & Stone Pointing worked over the weekend to fix the chimney that was causing leaks on rainy days and he fixed some sagging bricks. I was away when he worked on them but everything was fixed when I came back. It's been a few months now and still no leaks even with heavy rain.

It was a great experience. I got a call right back. They looked at the chimney and had a quote the same day or next day (I forget). The job was scheduled within days after I accepted the quote. They were quick, efficient, and professional. The quote was also 1/5 of what the other quote came in at. It was a true pleasure to work with this company.

EXCELLENT WORK and VERY PROFESSIONAL. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. We scheduled three brick masons (all from Angie?s List) to give us a quote on re-pointing the front of our house (three stories tall and about 15 feet wide). One of the brick masons said he no longer worked in Philadelphia because of union issues. Dennis from Philadelphia Brick & Stone replied immediately and said he would meet us to give us a quote. We went back and forth to set up a date/time for the initial meeting and a day before the meeting, he confirmed with us. He was very prompt, friendly, and candid about what was needed. He explained where there needed to be repairs, and where we did not need repairs. We very much appreciated that he did not try to sell us on re-pointing the entire front of the house. He sent us a quote soon after the meeting, which we accepted because it was reasonable, and then we scheduled the actual work about a week later. On the day of the actual job, he showed up on time, with another mason (Romey? Not sure about the spelling.), and they both prepared the area (e.g., putting down canvas). They started work immediately, about 11 am, and didn?t finish until 6:00 pm, but they were working non-stop during that time. Both Dennis and Romey were friendly, cheerful, professional, and attentive to the details of the job. For example, I noticed that they had cloth wrapped around the top of the ladder, to ensure it did not scratch the brick. In another example, at one point, Dennis had to leave to buy more caulking (I think that was what he called it) because he ran out of the proper color and wanted to be sure that the color matched exactly. They did the job properly, first removing the old cement and calking, and then replacing the cement and caulking. At the end of the job, rather than just quickly leaving, Dennis spent some time doing cosmetic touch-ups. They cleaned the area when they were done ? sweeping, removing all the detritus -- and actually left the area cleaner than it had been to start with. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who needs brick work done. (In fact, a neighbor who lived down the street was watching the work. He came over and asked for a quote because the work was so well done.)

Denis and his guys did an excellent job! It was a 3 day job. I couldn't have asked for anything better! These guys were awesome, honest, and punctual from start to finish. They will definitely get my business again when I'm ready to do my backyard in the summer!

Denis and his guys did an awesome job. The basement walls were a mess. The old mortar and parging was heavily deteriorated and needed significant repair. They scraped away all loose mortar and cement and resurfaced all masonry walls in the basement, applied bonding agent, parged walls and sponge finish. They were punctual, hardworking and professional. We are very happy with the finished product. A huge improvement!

From the first minute they ensured we knew what they were going to be doing for the job and it paid off. The job looks beautiful and we've already received plenty of compliments on it. The room was in poor condition before they came in; an old converted porch with skewed walls, an uneven floor, holes throughout the floor and chunks of concrete missing. I cannot explain how completely different the room looks now! I couldn't have hoped for a better result, the work is immaculate, the lines straight and even, the tiles flat and no pops or lips sticking up, no dips. Just terrific work and I would recommend Philadelphia Brick & Stone Pointing Inc. to anyone who wants great work for a great price! Not only was the price right in line with where we needed out budget to be, but the workers were awesome, friendly, and very kind and respectful of our house as well. They immediately responded and rectified any small issues (which were really just us asking questions to learn about the process and not issues with the work). They showed up on time and worked with us to ensure the work schedule worked for everyone. Again, we would recommend them to anyone who wants the best job they can get! Dennis is wonderful. He came out on almost no notice and did a free inspection of a just-finished rehab house I was under contract on. He walked through the house and gave me honest feedback about the quality of the construction that helped me decide to save my money for a better built house. Dennis is someone you can trust not to BS you on what needs to be done.
