Had to leave a message because nobody the phone doesn't get answered. Received a call back in a couple of days from the owners son saying that his dad is working on the world trade center during the week and he (the son) is taking calls to set up appointments. We had them come out and give us a quote which was comparable to the other quote we received and we accepted their proposal in early August contingent on them providing a written warranty, which I couldn't find on their website. They agreed and said they would fabricate the railing and then call us to set up an installation appointment. We didn't hear anything for a couple of weeks and then they called and set a date. They called the day before they were supposed to be here and postponed installation saying that they had a problem getting the railing painted. The came on a Saturday morning and installed the railing in about an hour, drilling into the cement steps and stoop, lowering the railing posts into the holes and then filling the holes with hydraulic cement to complete the installation. We looked at the railing, unfortunately not closely enough, paid them and they left. They were cordial the entire time they were here. The next day I went out the front door and was holding the railing and felt something. Looking down I saw a sort of crease in the top of the upper rail. Looking closer I saw that there was a large dull section of paint on the same section of the rail. Crouching down I noticed that the horizontal to vertical rail welds were lumpy without clean fillet shapes. I thought, oh well, it looks OK unless you get up close and that was that. Almost a month later my wife said she went out to fill the bird feeder and noticed that there was rust appearing at some of the weld points. I called Mr. Touey and left a message asking them to come out and look at it - no call back. I waited a week and called again with the same result. Tomorrow I'll be at Home Depot buying sandpaper and rust inhibiting black paint. The railing isn't 6 weeks old yet. I have their warranty it front of me. One of the sections is titled "EARLY DETERIORATION". The first paragraph of the section says " During the first three months after installation, we require that the customer watches for scratches or any other paint defects and remediate them immediately". The fourth paragraph says that if rust forms within one year I'm required to tell them so they can send a crew to fix it. Two weeks and still no return call. Safe bet that I won't be buying anything else from them.
