The Home Improvement Coach

Chip and the team did a fantastic job on our master bathroom! We really liked the coach approach to the project! After a consultation and some measurements we had a shopping list and some guidelines. Chip would check in from time to time and was available to answer any questions we had during the purchasing phase. We also received a project worksheet that was updated weekly via email with a summary of the project's status during the work phase. The guys were great, all skilled and a pleasure to be around. We'll definitely be contacting them for future projects!

Remodeling went incredible. Chip and his employees were very thorough in every detail. They provided a great spread sheet of the tasks that were to be done ahead of time. Chip also provided progress reports, and conquered any challenge that arose throughout the remodeling.

This company was interested in the job but told me he had just started another rather big job and could not take me on. Many tradesmen accept jobs and then disappear for long periods. The Coach did not do this and I appreciate his professionalism.

Chip and Brian did an outstanding job putting down real slate tile in our laundry area and made a great team. They installed 175 sq ft of 6x18 tiles in our laundry room area which also includes two closets and a pantry. They were very professional, flexible with any requests we had, kept a super clean work area, had great ideas, had little to no material waste and always kept us informed about the job costs, their schedules and where we were in the overall project. Not only were they both great to work with but they are both excellent at what they do. Brian was meticulous laying the tile even when we requested a super small space between the real tiles, which is not an easy task, but he did it beautifully. We could not be more ecstatic with how the project turned out. If i could have given them a higher rating than an A I would have; they are definitely an A+++.

Went great. The difference between Chip and many other General Contractors is that he allows you to work with his team, if you're handy, to save some dollars while other contractors want full control over the project. Chip was my second contact and the first contractor I talked to wanted full control and I caught him lying to me on numerous occasions. I couldn't work with such a person. I listened to my gut feeling and went with Chip and I was glad I did. Chip and his crew did everything my wife and I asked for at the start of the remodel and any other changes we included during the remodel such as overhead lighting . Chip did the electrical work. Brian did all the cabinets, trim and moulding. Norm did the drywall, duct work and plumbing. Everything went as planned and they showed up when they said they would and cleaned up at the end of the day. Chip said the job would be done in 2 weeks and it was. Any issues that arose were quickly diagnosed and fixed or offered alternative choices. Chip sends you a weekly project tracking sheet so you know what materials are being bought, worker hours and pricing. The last thing we need done is the back splash and once we figure out the design and type of tile we want, we plan on asking Chip to come back and put it in. Chip truly enjoys what he does and isn't looking to take advantage of his clients. It was a very enjoyable experience working with Chip, Brian and Norm. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

The project went great and on budget. Working with Chip and his crew was a pleasure. Everything went smoothly and I learned a lot in the process. Chip is patient and explains everything well. He also provided guidance for the the work I was doing myself which helped ensure my work was done right. I was able to completely redo both bathrooms for the price others quoted to just replace the showers/tubs.

Worked primarily with Chip, John and Brian. We really wanted to get rid of our drop ceiling and the dining room and take out the wall between it and the kitchen to give us an open floor plan. We live in a house build in the 1920's so I was worried what we would find when we started opening things up. The Home Improvement Coach spent a lot of time with me prior to the project starting and because of their experience working in older homes, made me feel comfortable that if anything did come up, they could handle it. They did a fantastic job and completed the project on time and on budget. My biggest things when evaluating contractors are quality of work and communication. The Home Improvement Coach excels at both. I was happily surprised during the project at their willingness to clean up thoroughly at the end of every day. Even though they were working at the house for a couple weeks, they understood that we still had to live there and did everything they could to allow us to be comfortable in the evenings. Every time we had questions or concerns, Chip and team were quick and happy to respond. We made some changes during the project and to no surprise, they were happy to accommodate. I would highly recommend Chip and look forward to having them back to renovate our kitchen.

We primarily worked with Chip and Brian, and they were great. Professional, hard working, quality work with attention to detail, and pleasant to have in our home. The project took a bit longer than expected which increased the cost from the original plans, but that is how things often go with home projects. I would rather things take a little longer and be done right, than take short cuts. Chip is also transparent with the cost of everything. I appreciated the break down of cost of supplies and labor. We will definitely use The Home Improvement Coach again!

We can't speak highly enough of Chip and his team. He walked us through the process everyday and counseled us on what the best layouts/materials to use and he and his team were great to collaborate with. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Home Improvement Coach to anyone.

Chip and Brian were great to work with. Chip explains everything that he's planning to do and why he's doing it, so I had an opportunity to learn about what's going on behind my walls, which made me a lot more confident about the work once the walls were back in place. Brian sketched a design to work into our shower walls and patiently cut a lot of tile to install it. I love the finished work! The cost of service didn't include the bathtub, fixtures, vanity, toilet, and tiles. We kept our existing toilet and purchased the rest directly. Chip recommended reliable brands and we were able to look for exactly what we wanted and compare prices. I could not be happier with the whole experience. I will be hiring them again for another bathroom remodel in the near future.

Fantastic! Chip is a very down to earth and utmost professional and the team he works with is very much the same. We did what seems to be common now, taking out a full tub and small shower and replacing with one big shower. We worked with Chip, John, Mike and Brian and all were very professional, informative and helpful through each step of the process. The communication was always there. Any questions I had were responded to quickly. And any concerns, hiccups or even design comments that the team had were immediately relayed to me. So there was never any question that the project wouldn't be done to my specifications. Everything from where tile borders should stop, to placement of fixtures was reviewed and Chip and his team made sure to provide any examples and details from his experience to help me with design decisions. I love my new bathroom and take great comfort in knowing it was done in a very quality manner!

Chip was truly great to work with. He spent considerable time with me to provide the estimate and discuss options for different approaches to doing the kitchen work. Chip was always pleasant to talk with and provided regular updates on scheduling and the progress of the job. Some of the work was subcontracted, but Chip worked with the subcontractors to manage the cost. This was especially important for the plumbing work where all of the preparation was done by Chip so the plumber didn't have to spend any more time than necessary. Chip takes pride in the quality of his estimates (time and material) so when he found he had underestimated part of the job, he even deducted the additional cost. Chip also provided some ongoing advice and feedback to me on work in my home that I had done by a painting contractor as part of an unrelated job - definitely above and beyond what I expected! I would have no hesitation about working with Chip again in the future. His title of "coach" is well earned. I felt like Chip coached me throughout the work so that I was always well informed and involved in the decision making.

Chip is as delightful and professional in person as I read on all the other reviews. We had him come over to look at a number of projects, but the only one we decided to do right now is the installation of a generator. He told us what we'd need, and once we got the materials he had me forward the info to him so he could see what he might already have at his house that would help him install it. He came over for the morning and really did coach my husband on how to do the install. He left after about a half day, but let me husband keep his tools to finish the job (we live really close). Great experience. We will use him in the future.

Chip and his crew did a fantastic job on our bathroom remodel. It turned out to be everything we were hoping it would be. I read all of the reviews on Angie?s list. All of the A reviews ended up being exactly how Chip handled our job as well. We had a tight time frame to complete the job due to our holiday guests arrival. Everything went perfectly ? there were no surprises on the time frame nor cost. I really appreciated how Chip took the time to perfectly plan out the schedule for the work and meticulously tracked all of the costs and showed them to me every so often. He made sure that all the supplies and workers were in place BEFORE he began. This ensured that with likely certainty that the job would be finished on time. Every person that came to our home was extremely professional and communicative regarding daily goals and expectations. They cleaned up after the end of each workday. I plan to use Chip and his team again for our master bathroom project.

This is a business concept that works, primarily because of Chip. A lot of homeowners (like myself) have the will, not not the skill to do home improvements. Chip helps you stay involved and this allows you to keep costs down as much as possible, while still having an expert on site doing all of the heavy lifting. I knew Chip was a stand-up guy during our initial contact, during which we had a very lengthy conversation. Since then, every cost has been documented by Chip and every single cost that was outside of estimate was given to us with options. We have completed one powder room and a 2nd bathroom is on schedule. Time and money allowing, we will continue to use Chip moving forward and we are very, very happy with him and his work.. By the way- everything Chip has done looks great!

Chip was fantastic to work with. The concept where the customer takes responsibility for choosing and buying the materials (cabinets, tub, granite, tile etc) and Chip and John and their associates do the design and install is great. We saved $10K by doing our own shopping, and avoiding the added cost a lot of builders add in for buying and carrying the cost. Chip's design ideas beat any others we had gotten from professionals. The quality is exceptional and they make sure every aspect is correct. I have worked with many contractors before, but now I only have one whom I consider a trusted friend. What is nice is he will instruct and let the customer do the work they want to do saving money. You can become as much a part of the project as you want which saves money. We went from a 90's master with an over sized garden tub and miniature shower insert, to a beautiful master bath that has room, and a beautiful large shower, with great tile and look. We are already planning our kitchen remodel with Chip. His tracking and transparency of every cost, labor lets you know exactly what you are getting and the cost. Nothing is hidden.

Chip and John were a fantastic team! We wanted a remodeled kitchen. Used same space, gutted what we had, and replaced with all new. Since we had never done this before, Chip was a great asset telling us where to start and how to schedule each installation (tile floor, cabinets, granite, and tile backsplash). He had me schedule an extra day here and there to cover anything unexpected that might come up. We stuck to the schedule and the job was completed in one month- start to finish!!! Communication with Chip was exceptional. We got weekly project tracking sheets on how the job was going and costs. Knew exactly what was going on with the project.

Was very prompt and responsive. Communication was excellent. Spent a good deal of time understanding our needs. It was a mutual decision that we should go in another direction.

Chip and his team were excellent. He came over and met with me on two different occasions to go over my master bath remodel in addition to some electrical work I wanted done in our kitchen and living room. Chip took the time to explain how the remodeling would work and what needed to be completed. He provided candid advice on the remodeling job, gave multiple referrals in addition to a competitive estimate. His estimate included a budget down to every last last detail which was greatly appreciated. I end up not going with Chip for the remodeling job as I decided to stick with the contractor that I have used on multiple remodeling projects on my previous house. However I would definitely reach out to Chip again for future projects and if I had not already worked with my current contractor then I definitely would have went with Chip and his team. I interviewed five other contractors and The Home Improvement Coach was far and away the best. I would recomend him to any of my friends and family.

Things went very well. It went a bit over the time estimated, but this was not due to Chip or John, rather due to some defects from the company I ordered the studio shed from. Chip did work with me though, to try to keep the cost as close as possible to the original estimate. Chip was very communicative and helpful in finding a contractor for the slab foundation and coordinating both with our concrete guy, as well as the company which we ordered the product from and the heating and cooling guy. All of the recommendations for the subcontractors were outstanding and Chip was there throughout the process. Chip's attention to detail, and Chip and John's desire to not simply get things done, but done extremely well is noticeable. I would highly recommend The Home Improvement Coach for any remodel, etc needs. I learned a great deal in the process and Chip trained me in doing the basics of electrical wiring, insulation, and trim work. He also told me that if I was willing to do some of the work I could save the money and purchase the necessary tools with the money saved and have them to use for the future. I just finished the base and door trim and am currently working on the window trim. I'm very happy to have picked up some basic construction skills. If you want to learn and get things done efficiently and of the highest quality go with the Home Improvement Coach - Chip and John are a pleasure to work with and will patiently answer all of your questions.

I like their punctuality, friendliness, professionalism, and the cost. I would recommend the friendliness and professionalism of the contractor. I highly recommend them.

Chip is a very personable and professional. We met with him to go through what we were planning on doing with kitchen and garage. He gave us his honest opinion and ballpark cost. in the end, we felt the project does not justify the cost and decided not to pursue it. I will definitely keep him in mind in any future project.

The Home Improvement Coach team was great to work with. They took our rough idea and developed workable plans, discussed various options for tile, fixtures, room layout, etc. Once the plans were completed they submitted the permit application with our Township. When the permit was issued, they got to work in what turned out to be one of the worst winters weather-wise in many years. Despite the extremely cold weather and excessive snow events, Chip and his team managed to get the work done. The end product is absolutely beautiful, and very functional also. Throughout the time that the work was being performed, all of the workers were extremely respectful of us and our property. With guidance from Chip we were able to perform most of the demolition, and we also (at our choice) did all of the painting, thus saving us the cost of having those portions of the work done by others. We were extremely pleased with The Home Improvement Coach from start to finish of the project.
