We selected Brian Wadel (Kitchen Fixins) thru Angies List. We were totally unfamiliar with the area. When we met Brian and went over what we 'thought' we wanted, we were very impressed. His input and suggestions and the flood of Formica and WisonArt samples he gave us made the process somewhat easier. As we noted in our earlier assessment, we relocated far faster than originally anticipated and Brian worked along with us. At no time did he ask for up-front money.
He removed the tiled backsplashes. Unanticipated was that the tiles were, for the most part, very well fixed to the drywall and he had to remove large portions of the drywall. That required replacing the drywall. The old counters were removed on Monday and he measured for the new counters. He removed the wall oven (and installed the new oven), removed the microwave over the stove (replaced with a vented hood), removed and replace the dishwasher, removed and replace the sink, removed the garbage disposal (we didn't want it). We converted the stovetop to natural gas and Brian worked with the plumber installing the new stovetop.
When he brought the two new countertops, each was one-piece; the Formica was not seamed. The cut-outs for the stovetop and the sink were perfect. Except for running the gas line to the stovetop and rewiring that appliance to a 120 line, Brian did the entire job. He is a real craftsman who loves what he does and takes great pride in his work. He was unbelievably neat. His worked far exceeded what we had anticipated.
We just received his final bill. It is as originally estimated plus a charge for materials for the sink hook-up ($22.00). In installing the new wall oven, he ran into a very unexpected situation and had to modify the back wall to fit the oven. There was an additional $50.00 charge for that work.
Don't think twice about using Kitchen Fixins. Brian Wadel is that good!
