I don't know how this company is still listed on Angie's list. I dealt with them in 2015 and Ben Scheirer stole thousands of dollars from me. He claimed he needed the funds in advance to order plants. Then never delivered. He said he would pay us back but never did. He lied to us and cheated us.

The stumps and concrete were removed successfully but then it all went down hill. This company has many negative reviews online and I should have gone with my gut and not hired them. But we gave them a chance and they failed miserably. Ben (Who lists himself as the owner, but doesn't make any decisions?) and Barry (Who will just flat out lie to you) smile at you and tell you they will do a great job and give you the backyard of your dreams. Well 15k later and two weeks since the job has been complete I've been asking someone to come out and look at the issues we have with their work and of course no one is to be found, although when they want a check, somehow they're available 24/7. Now to our paver job. I now know they don't do many paver jobs. It shows in their quality of work. In fact, we pressed them for references for days and all they could give us was one sidewalk/small patio job and they wouldn't have the customers call us. Wonder why? The paver job at our house ran along the 40 foot length of the back of our house and about 14 feet out from the house. The ENTIRE length of pavers that butt up against the house are cut improperly, aren't even, and leave varying lengths from flush to 2-3 inches away from the house. The big gaps were just filled in with poly sand and look ridiculous. We asked them to run a walkway from the patio to an existing pond and they stopped it two inches short of the pond, so there's a obvious gap there. We also had a small sitting wall and fire pit installed. Where the sitting wall butts up against the patio there are places where it is flush and places where there is a one inch gap. And there are gaps in the stone that make up the sitting wall. Now to the worst part. The patio is totally uneven! I circled spots with chalk where there were low spots and was told several times, "those will be taken care of with the final pounding". Well they weren't and the entire patio has low spots and slants. I asked SEVERAL times for someone to come out and look at our issues but all I heard from the Barry was "pavers are going to settle". The low spots and slants were there immediately!!! They didn't prepare or stabilize the ground properly! We had a sewage line dug recently and Crewcut knew that and accepted the job and started immediately, but now says we should have held off a few months. They were just broke from their past bad reviews they wanted money ASAP. You truly get what you pay for and I somewhat blame myself for not going with my instincts, because this company has many complaints against it and has been sued and I should have walked away. 15k is a lot of money for our family and these con artists took the money and ran and won't fix their mistakes which they guaranteed they would. Again, they will smile and say the right things, but beware they're wolves in sheep's clothing. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!

Not well. He was to put a 4 foot wide standard in the business, only made it 3 foot wide. We just now discovered they put the pavers over one of the septic tank lids. We had to dig up the pavers to get the septic pumped. They had to see the septic cement cover as they tamped down gravel on it to make a base for the paver install. The paver walk must be torn up and reinstalled around the septic tank lid. Total loss as a result of their stupidity. . Septic company said any experienced installer would have see the septic vents and known the two lids were there. Besides they would have seen it digging the trench for the pavers as it's not that deeply covered. I plan on filing a suit in small claims court.

It was terrible. I ended up in a law suit with him. I prepaid for the entire year for services and he never provided them. He never responded to the emails from The Better Business Bureau. I took him to small claims, to the majesty, I took it to county court and then I just dropped it because it was more money than what I would I have got out of it. He took my money and didn’t provide me services. He has done it to several people. There was a big article in the paper about it and how he ripped off other people. I literally had to call and beg him to come out and cut the grass. I may be got a handful of grass cuttings and that’s all I got out of the whole deal from him. He never responded to my phone calls, his voice mail was on overload so he couldn’t receive the messages, I called the office and he never returned my phone calls. They need to honor their contract and provide the service that their customers paid for. You can’t continue to rip off people, take the money and not provide the service.

We were told the landscaping services + some of the maintenance (treating trees for carpenter ants, trimming trees to prepare them for winter, and seasonal lawn treatments) would be completed in 1 week after entering into the contract. Other yard maintenance (mowing, edging, leaf removal) was to be provided over the course of a 3-year period. I signed the contract on 9/23/14, so the bulk of the work should have been completed by 10/6/14. After many phone calls & emails to Benjamin Scheirer requesting information, the work still was not completed by 10/30/14. Some of the work that was supposedly completed was not completed to our satisfaction. I emailed Ben detailing the issues with the work done to that point & what I expected in order to address those issues. I also requested a refund for the money I had paid for services that had not yet been provided. I received no response from Crewcut, including not receiving the refund I requested. I filed a complaint with the BBB detailing the same issues & expectations. The BBB notified me that they had passed the complaint along to Crewcut but never received any response. Since Crewcut is not a member of the BBB there was nothing more they could do, so the complaint was closed. I currently have a complaint pending with the PA Attorney General's Bureau of Consumer Protection. Issues: Work not done on time. Quality of work was poor. Crewcut claimed some work included in the contract was completed despite no evidence to support that claim. Not reliable - did not show up when expected, did not complete work on time, provided no explanation for delays unless prodded via multiple phone calls / emails. Did not adhere to payment terms of 50% due when contract signed, 25% due when work begun, 25% due when work completed. Demanded payment of 20% of the final 25% payment before work was complete due to "issues with a vendor." Despite repeated communications expressing displeasure with their service, Ben continually tried to upsell us into purchasing additional landscaping services. I would never hire Crewcut Lawn Care again, nor would I recommend them to anyone else.

They wasted no time cashing the check. They cut it once. Then they didn't come back. I called threatened them and they showed up again. They came out a third time but I have not seen them since nor do I get any response from them. Mr. Scheier cashed his check within hours. My neighbors can attest that they have only showed up three times and only under duress. They will take your money. I am not sure if this is a legitimate business at this point.

We are happy with the service. The work is beautiful and I would recommend him to others.
