For security and convenience I wanted to purchase motion detector floodlights for two garage buildings. Because electrical wiring would need to be done I wanted an electrical contractor to do the job. I called Schoonover to get an estimate. I am recently retired so timing and appointments are not a big concern. I got a call that someone could look at the job and give me an estimate within a few days of my initial call. At the time of the estimate I gave the okay to do the work. There was no urgency to get the job done right away. Again, within a few days the office called early in the morning and said a technician had time to do my job in the afternoon. I gave them the green light and the work was completed. The installer took the time to ask me how sensitive I wanted the settings to be and for how long I wanted the lights to be on after they would be activated. The installer also gave me the owner's manual and explained how to turn the lights on and have them stay on when needed.
Description of Work: Purchase and install motion detector floodlights on two different buildings.

NOT GOOD AT ALL!!! After the ducting was replaced in May 2013, a year later when the warm days of last spring 2014 came, the obnoxious odor was again very prevalent throughout much of the ranch house. I called Eric and he sent a serviceman to check out the ducting. He cut holes in various places in the ducting, and there was moisture. He said he could spray. That was done a previous time with the old ducting. The combination of the spray and the mold was even more troublesome to my allergies, so I did not let him. He told me Eric would call me, but I had to call him. Eric told me mold did show in the pictures taken. He told me on nice days to open all the windows and turn just the AC fan on, and let it circulate. I assumed, to dry the ducting. Well I did do that for as many days as I could until the hot days of summer forced me to use the AC for cooling. I also had the air quality in my home tested, and it showed a mold problem. When my allergic health issues worsened, I realized this was probably the worst advice Eric could have given me. Now I had even more mold spores distributed throughout the whole house again. Stupid me for taking his advice!!! I was sick over the whole matter - emotionally and physically. Would I have to start over and replace all the ducting again??? Could I regain my health and feel good again?? Could I ever be comfortable in my home again?? I called two other businesses but they were not much help. I have not known just what to do, but I was able to find proper shields for the vents and the return and put them up last fall. I've done a lot of searching on the internet. There is a possible helpful solution I've read about - using a diffuser with therapeutic Thieves's Oil which is supposed to kill the mold spores. I thought I might try that this spring and summer. Hopefully there will be no more condensation issues in the ducting and hopefully no more mold than was already there. If anybody has any suggestions, they would surely be welcome.
Description of Work: Three different Schoonover servicemen did not diagnose or explain the attic AC ducting problems adequately for 3 years. Sometimes water would drip from some of the ceiling vents on sunny days in the winter obviously from condensation, and in the spring there would be an obnoxious smell that had to be coming from the ceiling vents. I was also having respiratory and allergy problems. There was also a large stain on the ceiling they could not explain. Finally they told me I probably had a mold problem. It was my son who discovered the main trunk duct had a dip in it where moisture was collecting. It had loosened the duct tape at the jointure, and was dripping this obnoxious fluid on the insulation and thus staining the ceiling. So in June 2013, I decided to have all the attic ducting replaced by them (they did find moisture and mold in the old ducting when they removed it). Eric Schoonover told me the new replacement vents now with rubber gaskets would seal better keeping warm moist air from escaping into the ducting which was creating the condensation. They also said they would clean the coils with Clorox and kill the mold spores there. I asked Eric if he knew of vent shields I could get - he did not think I needed them and did not know of any available. I checked the internet and could not find any suitable for my vents. He told me I was not the only one experiencing such problems! I proceeded to thoroughly clean the whole house, but allergy problems still plagued me.

I am sorry that your experience with Schoonover was not satisfactory. We do strive to meet the needs of each customer. As we discussed at the time, we did not replace all of the ductwork or the aged equipment, we did all we were authorized to do to eliminate any odor. Upon returning after the repairs were made, we were not able to detect any moisture in the ductwork and believed that the ductwork was not the cause of the odor. Again, I am sorry that you were dissatisfied with our service and I hope you were able to find adequate answers elsewhere. Thank you for your review.

I noticed my attic fans were no longer turning on and off automatically. They were old and I thought they had burned out and needed to be replaced. The electrician found one fan was jammed with a bird nest and cleaned out the nest. The fan still worked. Nothing further was needed. It was not an easy job to climb around the attic. This is why I waited until September to call for the repair, when it would be cool in the attic. The second fan was indeed old and had reached end of life. The electrician had to go back to the office and order a new fan. He found one that he could replace without having to do any work on the roof. The new fan could be installed from inside the attic. The electrician came back a second time to finish the job. I was very satisfied with the results.
Description of Work: Repaired one attic fan. Replaced a second attic fan with a new unit.

I had been trying to get an electrician to do a residential non-emergency service call for about 4 to 5 months. Most contractors said they were busy helping victims of the September 2011 flood. I waited until January 2012 and made calls to about 4 different providers who, as of Mid-March 2012, have not called me back or said they would come and were no-shows. I had used Schoonover previously but thought they only did plumbing and heating - not electrical. I noticed their ad in our Church bulletin said they did electrical work. I called them, and they sent someone promptly. Schoonover actually visited my home twice. The electrician worked on an estimate for re-wiring my living room and replaced a circuit breaker for an out-building. I decided not to do the living room job because of the high cost of the estimate. However, the electrician completed part 2 of my job - installing a new electrical outlet in my bathroom.
Description of Work: Replace circuit breaker for an out building. Install new electrical outlet in bathroom. Provide a diagnosis and estimate concerning a possible lack of ground in living room electrical outlets.

They came to my house a week earlier than scheduled. They came in and performed very professionally. They went right to work in my basement and kept all the noise to a minimum. They were very neat and kept all mess to a very minimum. They arrived on Friday and put in all the piping and hung the new heater from the rafters in the basement. It was a natural gas heater they put in because our old oil fired furnace was ruined in a flood caused by tropical storm Lee. They left the old heater hooked up as a courtesy over the weekend so we had heat. They came back on Monday morning and we had heat by Noon. There are still a couple of minor things that have to be done but the major stuff is done and we have heat. They will be back to finish as soon as I have the oil tank pumped dry to remove it and the old heater. They were friendly, professional and very knowledgeable about their work. I would definetly recommend them to anybody.
Description of Work: Rhey came to my house and replaced my heating system.
