Don Schurer and his son Jordon did an amazing job on our new deck. He was willing to work with me with any changes that came about. Don is very professional and was very kind and empathetic as I had lost my husband right after we had made the plans to have a new deck built. My daughters have said ?Dad would really love it? and I know he would. We love our new deck now and can?t wait until spring when we can really enjoy it. For now we will enjoy as many fall nights as possible. Don will be installing a new sliding door for our deck in a week or 2 and adding gates to keep our Puggle and the grandbabies safe. Can?t wait to see that finished. I really trust his work and would not call anyone else for these projects. Thank you Don and Jordon.

Don and his son Jordan created such a beautiful deck at our campground. The care and understanding of what my wife and I wanted was just exceptional. My wife has some health issues, Don fully understood our concerns and needs and created the deck that we hoped to have. We can not thank Don and his son enough for the great job they did for us. We had an excellent experience using Don Schurer and his crew. Don showed great patience with all the changes to our porch build and even did some smaller jobs for us at a reasonable rate. He uses the highest quality materials and worked everyday until the project was completed. It was exciting to come home everyday to see the progress that was being made. The porch came out even better than I expected and I'm sure it raised the value of our house by more than we spent. I wish I could put before and after pictures here to show the difference his work made. We will enjoy many summer nights on this porch and I'm happy that I decided to use Don. I hope to use him to add a roof to our back deck as well. Hire him...you won't be sorry!

Don and his crew did an amazing job on our deck. We had some unsuccessful attempts with other contractors but Don was very professional, understanding and was able to produce a nice quality deck that my family will be able to use for years to come.

Don replaced a large elevated deck on the rear of our house. The job included 6 new posts, framing, decking, fascia, railing and lighting. Don was reasonably priced, on time, very neat and did quality work.

As of August 13, 2024, I am changing my review. The deck is lovely and we are happy with the choice of Timbertech decking. However, I am not satisfied with some fit-and-finish items that I have been requesting for over a year to no avail. Our deck required skirting around the bottom. Since the yard is not perfectly level, the skirting tapers down as the gap between the ground and the deck gets smaller. There is a 10 section that was not completed with skirting and is just now a gaping hole. I have asked Don many, many times in the past year to finish it and have gotten nothing but empty promises. I have also found some of the mitered corners to not be flush and found dozens of decking screws in my yard and driveway. I have given ample time and opportunities for this to be fixed, but I'm done.

Don built an entirely new deck to replace our old one. We did not have to wait months for him to start. He got to work on our project in a timely fashion and the work was superb. Don is a master craftsman. He takes his time to do it right and the results are beautiful. Material was delivered on time and was inspected thoroughly before installation. He took care of all the permit paperwork and demolition trash. Don is friendly, very conscientious about his work and very respectful of his customer’s property. The new composite deck is solidly built and looks great. We can’t wait to entertain on it. Don and his crew are true professionals. They cleaned up every day and left our yard spotless. In fact, we are scheduling Don for other projects around our house later this year. I would heartily recommend him to friends, family and neighbors.

We hired Don to tear down old deck of our new house and build a new one. The entire project was handled professionally start to end. Don handled permits and inspection and always informed us of the status. We liked that Don was open for suggestions and always discussed next steps. They built a beautiful and sturdy deck using Timbertech materials. Kids are so excited to play with snow on the deck. We are looking forward to enjoy it more next summer.

We hired Donald Schurer Carpentry to build our deck in the back of our new house. Most of the work was done with Don and his son, and they were both tremendous. The work quality was great and they were very easy to work with. The price was also the best offer that we got. I would highly recommend them!

Don Schurer and his son Jordan have done 3 large projects for us recently. They completely gutted and remodeled 3 different houses and structures for us. The house we currently live in is one of them. Don was recommended to us by another loyal skilled contractor that does our basement perimeter drains in our rental units. So we knew he was gonna shine from the very beginning. He subbed out the electrical, plumbing and paint work. The electrician and plumbers were great additions to our arsenal of â top notchâ contractors. -Our only single complaint was with the painter. I wonâ t get into details on this here, but Don was very expedient in making things right with this situation. All 3 structures are unrecognizable from the former state. He is a very talented carpenter! We plan on having Don Schurer construction back for many projects in the future. If your looking for any composite deck work he is the person you want to speak with. Ace Work!

Once Don started the project, he came back every day until it was finished. He was very helpful when we were making decisions as to size, materials, and colors. He made arrangements for all permits and inspections. I honestly cannot say enough about the quality of craftsmanship . We are extremely satisfied with our new deck and would recommend Don Schurer without any reservations.

Donnie and his son Jordan are professional and completed my project to my expectations. They previously built me a composite pool deck a few summers back. The current project involved building a 16x20 roof over my octagon deck with skylights, vinyl siding, soffit/fascia, downspouts, and a pre-finished wood ceiling. Experienced team and true craftsmanship. Worked hard at meeting my criteria. I would recommend their services. We will enjoy a lot of quality family time on this great covered deck!

We had a terrible experience with Don Schurer. I contacted them and spoke with Jake (son) several times. I also looked at a deck they had built and spoke with the home owner. We decided to hire Schurer Carpentry. I was advised once my deck was started it would be completed before they moved on to other projects (per Jake). This turned out to be false information. The deck was suppose to be started 3rd week of September 2018. I received a call stating his father was on vacation and they would start the following week. The project was started the first week of October. The post holes were dug and the posts were placed. When I saw this, I couldn't believe the condition of some of the posts that they used. I immediately contacted Don and had a post replaced. I informed them that I wanted to be on sight to observe their work in case any problems occurred. I was advised when they would be here. On several occasions (more than i would like to count), they didn't show. They were also building a house during this time. But like I said earlier I was told that once my deck was started, it would be completed before they moved on. This effected me because I would change shifts with fellow workers and they wouldn't show and wasted my time. There were times that I couldn't be on site and when I got home to see the work that was performed, it was not correct. The main boards to the flooring were not cut straight which caused a gap between the boards (picture frame deck). The cuts were on the railing were not cut correct. A gap could be seen in the seam where the 2 boards came together. Some of the boards were scratched due to carelessness of the workers. The floor board ends were screwed in and the caps to cover the screws were were not flush with the floor. Yes this problem never was corrected. The railings were not cut straight for the stairs and also the main railing still has a wave. This project now was into November and I was going on vacation. The project was put on hold until Spring as per Don. The one portion of the rail was never put on. During November through March I had to make sure the kids were not on the deck fearing this safety hazard. This portion of the rail was right at the top of the stairs coming onto the deck. A contract that was written up by Schurer contracting explaining the payments and other details was signed. Don contacted me and we meet at my residence February 9, 2019.. Don explained he needed more money because my project was behind and what he supposedly had invested. I spoke with him about the problems and also I needed the work to be completed by 05/3/19. Due to having a party scheduled. He stated that the problems would be taken care of and the work would be completed. My deck was top priority. Going against my better judgement I made another payment. I just wanted to stay cordial and get the project completed. Again I was advised of the days they would be working and again no show. So apparently my project was not top priority. The project was not completed by 5/3/19. Causing us to reschedule our event. The deck was completed 05/30/19 not the project. The front vent for the dryer was not completed as per contract. The metal roof was not complete and I was reimbursed the money for this. The 2 pieces of siding were never replaced this was not part of the contract just a gentleman's agreement. The screws on the one side were never screwed down for caps to fit properly. This was shown to Don back in February. They then cut caps thin but never screwed the screws down. After a heavy rain storm, the caps washed away. Screws still are showing. Outside boards were not screwed down. I had to screw 2 boards down which had caps but no screws. This could have been another hazard if not caught. During this build, I brought many mistakes to the attention of Don. I was told I was too picky. I had anothe...

We had a great experience with Don Schurer carpentry. Our deck looks amazing. We love it! It was very well built. Our deck did take a long time to build but it was at the end of the season and during the winter so understandable. All of the contractors were so friendly! There was a weird angle on our deck that I didn t like the way it looked and Don worked with me taking it apart and coming up with a solution that I was happy with. I would highly recommend them for any of your carpentrey needs!

We hired Don to build a new composite deck for our new home, and it was a great choice! Don and his son built us a beautiful deck using Tibertech deck materials which we can't wait to start using. Don communicated the status and timing with us constantly so we always knew where we were in the process. He also handled getting the building permit and the inspections so we didn't have to worry about any of that ourselves. I can't wait for them to come back in a few weeks for phase 2, a roof over the deck. I highly recommend Don Schurer Carpentry.

Great company and people to work with. We took several bids on a new deck build for our home and their price was very competitive with others. They were communicative, friendly and easy to work with throughout the process. They are a small family business, which was also a plus for us. We are very happy with the final product. More than happy to recommend to anyone else.

Jake was excellent to work with from start to finish on my deck project. Due to the weather(seemed like it rained everyday) my project was pushed back, but he kept me in the loop the entire time on when the project was going to be started. They finished it in one week and it turned out beautiful! I would highly recommend them!

Donald is a master carpenter, his son Jacob following right behind him. They did an excellent job despite having to work in cold and muddy circumstances. They were delayed a few weeks by poor weather on a previous job, which I was not concerned about as Jacob kept me informed, and once on my job they demolished my old deck and poured the footers the first day, did most of the new carpentry the second and finished it off on the third. The sub-structure is the best on my street, and the deck looks really smart. Job well done Donald Schurer Carpentry.

Make sure that you have clear written plans of the work to be completed. Workmanship was not equal to what I paid for the job.

The project team was very neat and courteous. They started early and worked hard all day. They were very concerned that the project was what we wanted. They took extra time working with us. We would use them again for other projects.

Super friendly and professional. Helped us with the design of the deck and patio. Resourceful dealing with our out of square area. Everyone showed up when they said they would. Great communication. Loved working with a small family business. Would highly recommend.
