Jim caused major damage to our home! The work was performed by subcontractors without our prior consent. Subcontractor forgot to turn off supply line to our toilet, which caused the water to flow back into our basement. This flooded our basement overnight damaging our floors, walls and built ins. Jim was both unresponsive and unprofessional. He refused to take responsibility for the flood despite his subcontractor's acknowledgement of the mistake. Please stay away!

I inherited an old system that has been very temperamental the past few years. During the recent heatwave, the blower in my system wasn't working. I left a voicemail and entered a request for service online Saturday, June 6. Jim called me back about a half hour later to ask how he could help. He was on his way to the shore and upon hearing that my system was old, said that he wouldn't be able to get the necessary parts until Monday, but he was willing to talk me through trying something for the time being. He asked me to take pictures of the system, then talked me through unplugging a wire that would allow the blower to run continuously until they could come service it during the week. I could not be more appreciative of the extra time and effort Jim put forth to offer assistance and save me from unnecessary service charges.

The tune up went well. Mark arrived on time and was very professional and knowledgeable. The heater is running great! The price was fair as well.

As part of finishing our basement, we needed our exposed 1950s ductwork (cold air returns) in the basement removed and replaced to accommodate better air flow and more headroom. We also wanted indoor air quality products installed (e.g., Halo + bigger humidifier). We contacted 4 different contractors. We got the usual shtick from one: “you need a bigger A/C, please pay us $20,000 and we’ll replace your unit and do ductwork.” Of course, we’ve been doing just fine with what we have. The next didn’t even bother measuring the ductwork or writing anything down. Their quotes were way off. Mind you, both of these are highly reputed companies on this site. The third, was a company we had used before there quote was in line with my expectations. I called JSA based on recommendations from this site, the fact that they were local, and their website listed a specialty in custom ductwork. Jim (the J in JSA) came out on Saturday (super convenient!), went around the basement with me, crawled in the crawlspace with me, and listened to what we wanted. We knew exactly how we wanted the ductwork run, and he was onboard. His quote was in line with expectations and he could start work soon. Demo was done over the course of one day, and install done of the course of two days about a week later (we still had A/C during this period). There were some unexpected difficulties along the way, but Jim worked through all of them with us. He came out at least twice a day to check on his crew’s progress and explain any adjustments to us and them. The quality of the workmanship was unparalleled. I am still very impressed with the attention to detail, and extra work done to properly seal all the returns and areas where retrofit meets new. No detail was spared. I am somewhat handy, and try not to hire jobs out if I have the equipment myself. JSA did it exactly to my specifications, and workmanship vastly exceeded expectations. I could not have done a better job myself, even with all the time in the world. My sense is that JSA is run by an extremely diligent young man, who is hungry for more business. That’s exactly who I want to hire. They have my highest recommendation!

It went very well! Through the scheduling & re-scheduling, Terry was incredibly responsive in getting back to us and in accommodating our needs. And Eric, the service tech, was terrific: he arrived on time (actually had to wait for us a little while); he quickly diagnosed the problem; and he spent plenty of time explaining the situation to us and answered all of our questions. JSA has always been very technically sound but has really improved their administrative capabilities. And, if Eric is any indication, they have brought in some additional excellent technicians. We are staying with JSA and highly recommend them!

Everything went perfect . The guys were friendly and had all the answers to all of my questions. They were neat which wasn't easy on a rainy day . They put tarps down and put something on their feet while in the house . After they were done they did a total clean up and took all trash away . I have been using JSA for 13 years and would never think of using any other company for my heating and air conditioning needs .

Arrived exactly on time the day of the estimate, as well as on the day the work was done, took exactly the amount of time Paul estimated to complete the job, extremely knowledgeable, they were clean and neat, pricing seemed just right, an absolute pleasure start to finish. I needed emergency service because my heat would not come on and it was 59 degrees in the house. After calling the company I had previously used for a number of years and with no response, I checked Angie's List. The owner was very responsive and dispatched a technician rather quickly. Technician was courteous, pleasant and knowledgeable. For the time being, I have averted major repairs/cost and/or replacement of the system. Jay, the technician, indicated they will back up their service if the problem reoccurs within 30 days. That is impressive. The cost was reasonable, especially given I was not a prior customer, had no service contract and received priority service. They now have a new loyal customer, as I will be using them for all my servicing needs in the future.

They were great. They do good work and they are efficient. I had no issues.

The service had to be postponed a day because the serviceman had another, emergency call. The next day, the call went on schedule. The service revealed considerable salt buildup in the heat exchanger, which was cleaned up over half an hour, several gaskets were replaced, the condensate pump cleaned, & most important, the igniter, which had warped over time, was replaced. it was suggested I have another service visit in a year from the coming summer (since the heating season is nearly over). We also looked at and measured a couple of areas in the house which are not heating adequately with a view to eventually installing some sub-floor heating. The furnace is now working fine (for the past 10 days).

BEST IN-HOME SERVICE EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD! COULD NOT HAVE BEEN ANY BETTER, WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE. I live in an 80+ year old house and have had the misfortune of having to replace my air conditioning and boiler in the same year. To do so I have contacted and/or gotten estimates from no less than 12 local HVAC companies. Including all the ones whose trucks you've seen all over the delaware valley. I only wish I had met Jim before this summer before my disastrous air conditioning install. I called JSA when my steam boiler died. Jim was at my house within hours. He had a quote for the replacement before he left my house. He emailed me the quote with a link to pay the deposit that evening. His quote was ONE HALF the estimate from the company sent by my home warranty. He completed the job in 3 business days (just one day of work at our house) and left the work site spotless when he was done. All during the week before Christmas. Most importantly. He was very responsive. He replied to every email or call quickly. I was not home during the install so he contacted me to set up a time to go over the new equipment. I have used some of the other large service companies that claim to focus on customer service and have repeatedly been disappointed. JSA is the real deal. PLEASE LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES, DONT WASTE YOU'RE TIME, JUST CALL JSA!

Tech was on time and diagnosed my dryer problem professionally. He estimated cost to fix and we both agreed I would buy a new unit

Jim came out to give us an estimate & JSA Mechanical was the best price & the easiest to work with of all estimates we received. Everything went smoothly. I called Jim this past saturday 7-16-11 because my AC was not working. He came out on a Saturday to look at my unit. He had the part I needed over-nighted to him so he could come back ASAP & repair my AC. Wonderful company. So glad I found them!

Our very old heating furnace was not blowing on auto setting. I called JSA from the list. Jim answered my call and came out later that day to check it out as he had other jobs scheduled in the area. He arrived an hour later than originally planned but he called ahead to let me know. After some investigation he found that the heater fan relay was defective and needed to be replaced and rewired as the furnace is very old. He told me that he would get back to me as soon as he locates the part. While being careful not to appear to push for it, he also told me that we should consider replacing the heating system with newer and more efficient models especially when there are both government and energy supplier incentives offered for installation done this year. It took several calls to Jim and days later before I received $ cost to replace the broken fan relay and an estimate of installation of a new HVAC system. Under normal circumstances this would have been quite acceptable. While I was impressed with Jim's sincerity and professionalism, I ultimately chose another and bigger company to do the work. At any rate I was satisfied with Jim's assessment of our old heating system and was glad to pay his initial visit charge which was quite reasonable with the member coupon discount.

They were 1000 dollars cheaper than other bids. The price was competitive. He was timely. They were neat. He could have been clearer in his communication with us. Overall, we are pleased with outcome.

We had gotten quotes from $8000-$9000 from other companies. They were very neat and clean. They came on time. They completed when they promised and we had no problem with the quality of work they provided.
