MG Tree

They were absolutely awesome. It was a very difficult tree removal but still they managed to do it.

Do not use this company. While grinding a stump in my neighbor's yard I noticed that the mesh barrier was about 4' high but only on 3 sides. The side bordering my yard had a board about 2' high. The board was not high enough & large wood chips were flying into my yard. I asked the crew to put up the mesh on my side too. They refused. I called the company to explain I was worried about possible damage to my mower if it went over the big wood chips. They blew me off too. These chips were about 5" x 3" and would have damaged my mower for sure. Small issue and so easy to solve but they were unwilling to even consider the request. Go elsewhere.

I mistakenly just submitted a review for MG Tree, because it remained pending in my Angies List account. Please ignore this review for service on 3/7/2018, because I did NOT use MG- they were probably tied up by the storm and did not respond as quickly as the company I did use.

MG Tree did a fantastic job from start to finish! 6 trees and stumps were removed; an overgrown Holly was reduced in height and shaped, 7 Juniper shrubs removed, Rhododendrons trimmed and ALL debris thoroughly removed. My house looks wonderful. Everyone involved, from Joe, the estimator, to Scott, the project supervisor, and his crew was excellent. They were prompt, professional, amiable, and went the extra mile to make sure that I was satisfied with the job. Considering the amount time spent on the project and equipment needed, their pricing was very fair. I could not be more pleased, will definitely hire again, and highly recommend them.

Done on time as predicted. Did the work efficiently. Left track marks on the grass for vehicle needed to remove heavy trees- probably unavoidable- needed to re-seed that part of the lawn.

MG’s crew arrived promptly and explained their plans & timeline. Everything went as planned and the site was fully cleaned before the crew left. I was very impressed by the whole process.

They never show up and they are unreliable. I don't need that.

The crew was amazing! I had a neighbor that didn't want the tree removed and so they called the police, even though the tree was on my property. The crew handled the whole situation in a very professional manner and was very supportive through the process. They did such a good job cleaning up, that you would never know the tree had ever been there. I would definitely use them again!

The job couldn't have gone better. My husband noticed that the MG crew was working on a neighbor's property and inquired about getting an estimate on trimming some of our trees. They called the office and someone came out and gave us a written estimate and since the crew at our neighbor's would be finishing up early and all the equipment was on site, they were able to start our job that same day and finish up with a few hours the next day. Everyone was pleasant, professional and did exactly what they said they would do. They arrived on time, did the work, cleaned everything up and the place looks amazing. We would not hesitate to use them again.

Overall a very prompt and professional job. Among lower price quotes. On time with no surprises.

I wrote my first review on Angie’s List in 2008 and this is the first time I am writing a negative review. Recently MG Tree service did work at my neighbors and needed to get this giant oversized truck down our narrow shared driveway. They were having so much difficulty backing into the driveway with this mammoth truck that my neighbor offered to move her car across the street to give them a better angle. I was working from home at the time and noticed that when backing in the truck tires were on the edge of my grass, which wasn't a big deal - they used a leaf blower to blow out the tire track imprints in the grass. My wife cam home when she was working and mentioned to me she thought it was rude that some of the workers were standing on the edge of our walkway where it meets with the grass and the driveway when she was trying to walk to our front door with her hands full. Well she went out a little bit later and noticed that the spot they were standing on the walkway was damaged. Using the leaf blower on the grass and standing on the pavement was just a way of covering up the damage they did to our property. My family have been walking on that sidewalk every day for years and it was fine in the morning and afternoon. You can tell from how it is cracked that it was a result of a tremendous amount of weight and pressure. I called right away and spoke to Joe who told me they will 'make this right' and come out and take a look tomorrow. I was home all day the next day and no one bothered to stop by. After a few days of waiting I called Joe and he claimed that they didn't do it and 'I can't prove it', which was very disappointing. He then claimed they did look the next day, but I didn't see anyone and there was no knock at my door or no phone call, so that was another red flag. . lt actually would have not been that expensive to fix and if they were honest and forthcoming I may have told them not to worry about it since accidents happen and it was relatively minor, but the lack of both honestly and professionalism demonstrated by Joe and MG Tree service was disappointing.

I was away when work was done and it was perfect when I got back. I recommended them to others.

Mike and his team were very professional and responsive. Didn't turn up on two days but that was following a major storm and they had many emergencies to deal with.

They did excellent pofessional work. He was in a bucket truck going between trees cutting limbs that needed to come down.

MG Tree did a great job and completed the work on time, as promised. We had one issue with some grass being torn up on the hillside from the removal of the large limbs, but our landscaper said he could easily repair that. I would use MG Tree Service again and would definitely recommend them.

They performed the work while i was not at home. When I returned, the limb was gone and everything was cleaned up so that you would never know they were there.

Estimate went fine - Joe came promptly, reviewed the job to be done, and gave an estimate on the spot. We spent a fair amount of time determining just which limbs would come off a maple extending over the house, and how far/which sides to prune back the hollies to get the desired effect. I was thinking we had a new tree contractor, based on the first impression I was surprised by the sloppy follow up. Once I confirmed that I wanted the job done, the office staff said that Joe would call to schedule it. He didn't. Instead, one night I came home to find a message on my phone machine saying that the crew would be there the next day. They arrived, without Joe, and proceeded to ask ME what was supposed to be done. Whoa - what happened to the plan I made with Joe? Neither he nor those details were available to the crew, and Joe never came to check on them. Fortunately, I was around that day and could instruct them on what needed to be done - not that it was appropriate that I had to do that. Joe and I had made a detailed plan and none of that was transmitted to the crew. It felt as though I had an anonymous subcontractor he had hired off the street. As the crew packed up to leave I checked in again with the crew boss, who was casually tossing several large handfuls of woodchips on my driveway where they had had a significant oil spill. When they left, they left behind woodchips lying around the driveway as well as the mound of chips that were scattered to sop up the oil they had spilled. I did followup with Joe in writing to note my concerns. At that point, I would have considered hiring them again, as the actual trimming they did was adequate. Because Joe never acknowledged my letter to him, however, I now feel that I could not hire this company again. I'm saddened to write this.

Scheduled estimate on short notice. Arrived promptly and examined trees on property, pointing out which needed pruning, and which didn't. Work was completed very professionally a few days later. Left the property clean --wouldn't know they were there. Excellent work for a fair price.

How did it go overall? Smooth as can be! I got an estimate from Joe Hayden, who arrived when he said he would. He made sure he understood what I wanted. Then he said that MG would do the job sometime in the next two weeks unless I felt I had to have it done sooner. Two weeks was fine with me. But they showed up the very next day. I have a bird house that might have been in the way of the limb they were cutting. They removed that carefully and put it back carefully when they were done. They came with a crew, made sure nothing would get damaged, cleaned up everythign as if they were never there. The tree trimming looks great.

His prices are great! I've used his services four times. He's the nicest guy in the world, too! The whole crew is just fabulous and really professional. They come in, do the work, and clean up after themselves. They respond very quickly. I'm really impressed with them all.

Joe Hayden came out and gave an estimate. In addition to the tree work and stump grinding, I ask him to include backfilling ground out stump areas with soil and grass seed. This is an absolute must, unless you just want to see a dead stump. Within a few days we indicated we would go with them. MG tried to get permits to close the road from the township, but were eventually denied and refered to the state. State denied the request and required flaggers outside of the line of sight. So MG had to hire certified flag men (a 3rd party contractor) for a few hours while they worked on the part of the tree overhanging the road. I suspect this was an unanticipated expense and ate into their margins. Thankfully, they still did the work for the estimated amount and didn't pass the cost along to me :) They showed up early in the morning, made quick work of the dogwoods, and closed one lane of the road so they could work on the large portion of the tree overhanging the road. Finished that by around noon-ish, and then took out the portion of the tree on my lot. They made sure to use boards under their trucks whenever they were on my yard, and I am very pleased with the condition of the yard after they left. They finished by grinding down the stumps to below grade and back-filling with soil. Next day, they came and planted grass seed and added straw where the stumps were. Within a few weeks the grass seed took, and those are some of the lushest parts of the lawn. Very satisfied. Would definitely recommend and use again.

The crew arrived on time and worked non stop until the job was done. I had occassion to ask a couple of questions during the job and the leader of the crew explained everything he was going to do . All of the men were very cordial. In the future, If I need tree work done, I would certainly hire MG Tree.

I was very pleased. They were really nice guys, very thorough on the estimate they gave and gave the best price. They did a good job cleaning up after themselves and leveled off all the ground. They also took away brush from bushes that I had cut down previously.
