Description of Work: Three times appointment was made , three times was a no-show no call . Told him I wanted my $900 deposit returned he said there will be a 20% charge for canceling the contract. No contract was ever written. Then he said I needed to come in in order to get my refund my husband went for me so I didn't have to take off from work , refused to take the card and give me my refund . Told me just do it myself with the credit card company . I have since heard other harder stories of poor workmanship .

I gave the owner of Monroe Marble & Granite a deposit of $700.00 cash early January 2014 to install a granite counter top, sink, faucet and tile backsplash to my mountain house rental. After repeatedly calling every week, I finally get a call back from one of the owners. Informing me of all of their business personal issues and told me that the work will finally begin in a few weeks. They came out and installed on a Wednesday, since I live almost 2 hrs away. I gave my house keeper the money to pay the installer. When she met with him to review his work she was shocked to the gaping gaps between the base cabinets and the counter filled with silicone (to fill in and support) the installer blamed the gaping and unevenness on my cabinets. They also installed a tile back splashed which was so uneven and the grout so thick on some tiles and thin on the other it looks like this was someone's fist attempt at an installation. With viewing so many issues my house keeper told the installer that she could not release the balance until I was able to come down and see the finished job for myself. The installer and I spoke on the phone I informed him that I could not pay until the balance until the job was fixed and I seen it . What I found when I arrived on Saturday morning was the installer cracked in half the counter top and and removed the 2 smaller pieces and took them with him. I am still in shock. I guess he could not wait 2 days to allow me to see his work & to pay him.
