I spoke to Jason on the phone and he looked at the project. The project was smaller than he normally does, but he emailed me immediately and included suggestions and references to other contractors. Jason's responsiveness was exceptional.

We are very pleased with our new patio and fire pit. We were extremely pleased with our new patio and fire pit. The team we worked with was talented, courteous, and professional. Our initial design was done in a timely basis and the estimate was reasonable. The project started a couple of days earlier than anticipated and was completed on time, allowing for inclement weather. We are extremely pleased with the result. Our new patio is beautiful and exceeded our expectations. This was a great experience with an exciting result.

This was without a doubt the WORST experience I have ever had with a contractor! Bob didn't seem interested in performing the work at all. He kept telling me what he could NOT do and offered absolutely no alternative ideas or suggestions. To be specific, I expressed to Bob that I wanted ground cover on a portion of my front yard because of the steep slope. He proceeded to tell me that the roots in the bottom part of the yard were "a landscaper's nightmare" and there was no way the roots could be removed and nothing would ever grow in the area. I've since found out from several people that there are several well known fixes for tree roots. Well according to Bob it couldn't be done, and if I could find someone to do it "I should just give them the job". A comment he repeated twice, BTW. Disappointed since the ground cover was a big part of the design I had in mind, I moved on to the side of the house. I proceeded to tell him that I wanted the shrubs removed and replaced. His response: "I can't help you." REALLY?! At that point I was done. I thanked him for his time. Before I even got the words out of my mouth, he says, "Okay". Pretty obvious to me that for whatever reason, he didn't want the job. He didn't even ask me about the hardscape work I wanted done in the backyard, never asked to see any pictures or anything that I've come to expect from a company that designs landscapes for customers. His entire attitude bordered on being rude. If this is the face of Pittsburgh Stone and Waterscapes, they should "find someone else to do the job".

I called on a Wednesday and spoke with Jeff, he was very nice but cautious because someone from Angies List had called him the day before about advertising on the site. So when I mentioned that I found them from Angie's List he couldn't believe it. I told him where I lived and he said that his Dad lived nearby and would call me either that day or the next. Two days later on a Friday his Dad called, who was also very nice said that he knew the area and would stop by to take a look at what we had in mind. He offered to come by on Sunday at 11am, I said that we would be home, no problem. Sunday came and we waited around until 4 o'clock and nothing, not even a phone call. That was over a week ago and we still haven't heard anything from them.

We are very happy with the results. We gained privacy and increased valuation. There were no surprises, and Mr. Blunkosky worked diligently with us on the project to attain our goals. He exceeded our expectations and understood our needs better than many other companies which we contacted prior to hiring his firm. He is very pleasant, and amazingly talented in his craft. His crews were professional and cleaned the area, daily. They were very pleasant and worked very diligently, every day, sometimes exceeding the normal quitting time, so that we had access to our yard/driveway. We could discuss things with them, and they in turn would immediately call the owner, who would provide guidance as needed. The crews were capable individuals who did not require constant supervision to achieve the goals, and they showed that they also expected a high degree of accuracy in their work. They were willing to meet with us to discuss any concerns or questions, daily, and were not hesitant to call the owner as necessary for further instructions. They were also able to work around any changes to meet our needs and stated that their goal was to make us happy. Contact Person was Bob Blunkosky, owner of PGH Stone and Waterscapes. Bob provided a project description detailing the scope of work and an estimate. He was extremely knowledgeable and made good recommendations. He strongly encouraged adding the pillars and sitting wall which we were glad he did. He attended to every detail including drainage and grading. Bob had a vision for the space and it turned out beautiful. A few concerns were addressed immediately. Everyone who worked on this project was also very knowledgeable and did a great job. Price seemed expensive but the workmanship was of high quality and we have no regrets. We would hire them again!

The quote was competitive. There was not alot of detail to the work on the back retaining wall, and a particular locking stone system was listed as 'not available at this time'.

Excellent customer service from start to finish. Showed up on time everyday. Men worked non-stop with minimal break for lunch everyday. Quality of workmanship excellent. Left the job site neat at the end of everyday and upon job completion. Very happy overall and would highly recommend.
