We had Ed's Woodshed install a fireplace insert several years ago and since then we have used their Piccadilly Sweep for an annual inspection and cleaning. Each year our next door neighbor schedules our cleanings for consecutive times for which we both get a price break. They always show up as scheduled and do a thorough job. This year I was particularly impressed by the job that Joe did in cleaning up the stove.

They were good.
Description of Work: We had a spider in our fireplace, it caused a problem and they came out and fixed it. It was stuck in the gas and it was preventing the gas from coming through properly.

It was around $600. Comparatively speaking they were the only ones who would do it. The other people said I had to replace my whole fireplace. So it was really good compared to that. They didn't do the remote starters and then when I went to another fireplace place, they told me, you couldn't add it. That I need a whole new log set and that was like $2000 or something. I was like, wow, these other people told me I could. So I don't know if it was the brand I had and these people carried them and the other people didn't. I don't know why. I goggled and that's how I just called a couple of other...I looked to you guys first and there is not a whole lot of fireplace things, mainly chimney stuff on Angie's List. So I just called around a couple of places that did gas log insert type things
Description of Work: They added a remote starter to a gas fireplace...versus sticking your hand in.

Went great. The owner, Jim, came out and found a spider and web blocking the gas flow. In less than an hour our fireplace is up and running.

I had taken the door from our wood stove to Ed's Woodshed to have a new seal installed. I figured, it being almost summer time, they would fix it in a reasonable amount of time. Two weeks later, after hearing nothing from them, my wife returned to the store to inquire about the door. She was greeted by the owner who quickly lost his temper when my wife asked about the door. After his tirade, he stormed out of the room returning with the door (not repaired) handed it too my wife and said "HERE, TAKE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE." All this because she had the nerve to ask how much longer it would be. Over the years since this happened, I have spoken with others who have had dealings with Ed's Woodshed. Similar stories from everyone. Rude and obnoxious. How anyone stays in business after treating customers so poorly. I have since replaced our wood stove and chimney. I didn't go to Ed, and never will again.
Description of Work: Was supposed to install a new seal on a wood stove door. Two weeks later, nothing done.

I can only comment on their responsiveness, not the quality of their installation. This place would not call me back after numerous attempts. I find it hard to believe that in today's economy, a business would turn down any potential customer.

totally unresponsive, and we decided not to follow up with any other contact. Impressed with their lack of customer service.
Description of Work: My wife and I visited Ed's Woodshed building on Vanadium Rd.to inquire about replacing our gas log burning unit. The woman who was in the office seemed to be preoccupied and after describing our needs, the response was ," it will be well into December when Jim can get to this, but I'll have him call you." She took down our information. No callback was made, and we have decided that Ed's Woodhshed does not need our business. End of story!

Description of Work: I have been trying to get Eds Woodshed to get back to me since the beginning of Oct. to see about getting our 2 fireplaces set up. After one trip into the store and several phone calls later, noone has returned any calls. The woman who is "in the office" wasnt very patient and rude most of the time. I didnt get pyscho stalker calling but maybe once a week or week and half. I cant believe with all the rating services out there now, customer service would be so bad!

Performed as expected. Did not allow firplace soot to get onto the hearth. 5 plus years later the the top attachement bold failed causing glass to seperate from fireplace brick. When I called, they quickly scheduled someone to come to fix it. They did not charge me. I say that is standing behind your work.

After you buy something from them if you need it serviced forget it. They don't respond. I stopped in to their store twice to scheule service. It has been over 2 months since my first stop and one month since my second stop. I have not heard from them. They are good at taking your money to install but if you need service forget it.

We really liked these guys from the start. nice attitude - relaxed, but attentive customer service. Their showroom is unassuming from the outside but packed with floor models of their woodstoves, inserts and gas fireplaces. We ended up going with another company simply because we found a free-standing woodstove on sale that we loved. In the end, that company did not work out because they grossly underestimated the costs of installing the woodstove. We went back to Ed's to talk options and immediately remembered why we liked these guys so much. They educated us about wood burning inserts and had someone out to our house within a week to measure and tell us exactly what would be possible and for how much money. (The other company required us to actually put a deposit on a stove before they would come out and measure!) The unit was ordered, delivered and installed within two weeks. Nice guys did the installation. It took them three visits (two to do the full install and one to come back out to deliver a custom faceplate to cover a gap in our hearth) but each was professional and quick as possible.
Description of Work: We had a wood burning insert installed along with a chimney liner. They removed some masonry from our existing (original) masonry hearth/gas heater fireplace and installed the Vermont Castings wood burning insert and dropped a liner down our chimney.

They were supposed to be done in a week and took eight. They did poor quality work. They took money, left and never returned. I had to finish the project.
