They came and walked around with me. His name was Gary. He gave me what I thought was a reasonable estimate for repairing concrete on my driveway and porch. In the end I didn't use him because I got a recommendation from a friend.

It went well. The job was done on time and carefully. The leaking stopped. We had decided to do the final step of power-washing and applying sealant ourselves to save some money and were told exactly which product to buy and how best to apply it. At the hardware store we were told we had been recommended the best product for the job. Even with follow-up questions regarding the work we were doing ourselves, we were given prompt and careful attention.
Description of Work: Repaired cracks on patio over garage. Water had been leaking into the garage. He V-ed out the cracks and filled with polyurethane, taped and put an elastic barrier. Also repaired the crack along the house where the slab meets the porch.

He was able to repair and salvage the step. It was a minimal cost to salvage the steps as opposed to a new installation of steps. He resealed the step he worked on as well as the walkway. The amount was satisfactory for the work performed.
Description of Work: Gary repaired our steps which basically had pulled away from the house.

Excellant. Gary, the owner csme promptly to give us an estimate, which included not only replacing the fallen rock, but why, because of the vertical nature of the job, was more properly done, with polymer materials. He also gave me options, to which I agreed, of resurfacing, a particular area. to avoid an eyesore. He also gave me an esimate, which I requested, pertaining a cornering problem with a paitio step. Gary, completed the initial work within the timeframe involved. He also responded courteously and professsionaly with regard to two followup requests that I had made, the second of which having more to do with my peace of mind, concerng the location of the work, rather than an actual problem with his work
Description of Work: Because of the method used to pour a concrete floor between my above ground doble parking garage and the actual first floor of the house, a 6 - 8 inch lip was protruding and was subject to continous water stress. Finally, in the fall of 2008, a large section of this lip simply fell away from the building. This was not only unsightly but raised many questions as to the safety of the remaining pieces of concrete..

First of all, they responded right away and came out in a timely fashion for the estimate. It was a small job and I called several places that didn't want to be bothered. I was impressed that someone took the small job and took it very seriously. The job was done and finished exactly when he said it was going to be done. And he is an animal lover which won points with me. We found him off Angie's List.
Description of Work: They installed a mailbox in the concrete footing at the end of our drive. The job took only a couple of hours. He had to dig a really deep whole. Our old mailbox was dipping into a revene. The mailman considered it hazordous. We had first requested to see if he could salvage the old mailbox position. His suggestion to move the mailbox was much wiser. He moved the mailbox to a place where it would not budge. He also painted the mailbox so it looks as good as it is sturdy.

The crack team repaired a shared set of stairs between one of my rental rowhouses and the neighbor's unit. It was a little pricey, and I have a pet peeve with contractors who expect you to go to the job site with your checkbook at the end of the day and pay them. Nevertheless the workmanship was good and the contractor (I forget his name) was a great communicator--answered his phone or returned calls promptly. I would definitely hire them again.

We hired Gary to do this work. At first, he was friendly and showed up promptly to give us an estimate. Since he had gotten great reviews here on Angieslist, we provided him with our credit card number in good faith and said he could charge it when the said work was all completed. He came and worked one day. He patched the foundation ok. But the retaining wall was poorly done and incomplete with a 1 inch gap in it despite there being a clear guide along the ground to work off of. The frame for the dorothy door was poorly slapped together with a 1 inch belly on all sides, such that we couldn't even lay the door on flush to make it weather-tight. We attempted to contact him three times, leaving messages on his cell phone with no response at all. After about a month of frustration, we hired a second contractor to come finish the work. The new contractor also gave an estimate of the work that had already been done, which was $500. However, Gary had already charged us the full $1760 he estimated. We disputed this charge with the credit card company by submitting extensive photographs of the work that was done and the written appraisal by another contractor of the work, we were able to get about $1200 back. This was when we finally got a phone call back, from Gary. He was very angry and confrontational even after we explained that we tried to work this out with him but never got any returned phone calls from him in a month. At the end of the call, he finished by threatening us. He said we were "messing with the wrong guy" and that we'd "be hearing from him, you'll see." I'm going to call the police.
Description of Work: Rebuild retaining wall, patch a home foundation, pour a door frame to support a Dorothy door.

Response from A+ PLUS CONCRETE & FOUNDATION REPAIR
Work was completed on June 11, 2009. We were on the job for 3 full days. Payment was rendered by a credit card that was given to us after final walk thru with customer to make sure he was satisfied. We were never contacted to do foundation work and none was done. We were just made aware of the customers dissatisfaction on Tuesday July 28 when the bank informed us that he charged back $1260.00 from our bank account. We were not given an opportunity to try to satisfy any work that he was unhappy with. He also never let us know that he was taking that money back. We were contacted by customer in mid June requesting that we do more work for him. He never mentioned his concerns. Apparently we made the right decision in not contracting to work with him again. It took him 6 weeks to decide that he was unhappy. We work hard to satisfy our customers as our A 1 rating shows and are disappointed that someone can taint our hard work trying to get something for nothing. The person that posted the complaint was not the person that contracted us. We never met her.We are in the process of investigating this matter and will post a more detailed rebuttal at a later date.

Garry came out and repaired 8 steps at the back and 5 pads. He also repaired cracks on the patio and along it, a crack in the driveway, a big one on the front walkway and 3 long cracks in the basement. The whole experience was very nice and everything has been fine. He was on time and did an excellent job.

I sent Gary digital photos of the problem through their Web site. He called within just a few days to make an appointment to come out and see it. He arrived promptly and gave me an estimate that day (less $50 from a coupon I downloaded from The Crack Team's Web site). He couldn't schedule the work until the temperature got above 40 degrees, which took about three weeks. But on the first warm day he came out and completed the work in about six hours. He had to use more concrete than he had expected, but he still honored the original estimate he had given me. I couldn't be happier with Gary's professionalism, punctuality and the quality of his work.

The team was excellent (I've had problems before with untrained concrete workers). They gave us a fair estimate for difficult work (removing the mold and paint). They were punctual, efficient and pleasant to deal with. On the outside, they poured a neat concrete ridge along a large Victorian house and patched all the cracks where they thought water was getting in. They also thought about what might be causing problems and after advising me, took out part of a threshold which was obstructing water drainage. Inside, they sanded down a huge old foundation wall, removing peeling paint and mold. The basement wall was spotless and dry--it even smelled nice--after they finished. I recommend them highly to anyone with a wet basement.
Description of Work: The team waterproofed one side of our sandstone foundation by building cement berm outside to run off water that had been sloping from the sidewalk. They also sanded the inside wall removing peeling paint and mold that had grown underneath.

They did an outstanding job explaining exactly what needed to be done and how they would do it. They arrived on schedule and stayed until the job was completed.
Description of Work: The company sealed the crack between the sidewalk and the foundation, eliminating the cause of water penetration through the natural stone foundation wall. They came back, after the residual moisture migrated to the interior surface of the foundation and the wall had dried out, to clean the interior wall and apply a fungicide and sealant. The project took 2 people 3 full work days.
