Response from A+ PLUS CONCRETE & FOUNDATION REPAIR
Just Spoke with the customer and when i left the job that day we walked over the entire job just i do with all my customers. The customer had said that everything was good and payed the balance. Did not hear a word from the customer. I am the owner and do all the work myself and it was done right and all what we discussed. It's ashame that if there is a problem why i wasn't notified to correct the problem, if there was one.

Overall, we were very happy to have the job done professionally - at a reasonable cost. If you need this type of work done - give Gary a call. He won't do you wrong!
Description of Work: We called A+ Plus based on the reviews here on Angie's List. Our house is over 60 years old. In our basement, we had a section of block that had pushed in, some mortar cracks, some cracks in the concrete around our pool and a low spot in the concrete patio that allowed water to enter our basement. We had put off this work because we had no idea what the expense would be. Gary was great......he came over on a Saturday to evaluate the job and give us an estimate. He was punctual and very down to earth. He is very professional, and his quote included only what needed done. My husband and I were very pleased. We scheduled Gary to do all the work within a few weeks. Gary sealed all the cracks around the pool, put in a concrete berm on our patio, sealed all the mortar cracks in our basement wall and put up two carbon straps to reinforce our basement wall. I wouldn't hesitate to call Gary again.

He was very courteous. He gave me a date and time he was going to come, and he did. There was a problem afterwards where it was pulling up again; he re-did the work with another material and fixed it. I have had no problems since.
Description of Work: There was a large crack on my front porch that needed to be taken care of. It was pulling away from the house so they filled it so no water could get down into it.
Description of Work: He patched, power washed and put sealant on our huge concrete back yard and huge semi circle concrete front driveway. The back yard concrete had an ugly dark mold problem in one area. Now everything is beautiful and bright. And Gary is a very efficient. And he is a really nice person.

The cheek wall on our stairs has given me problems for years. I've attempted to patch it up myself twice, but it keeps coming apart. I suspect that it may not have been built properly as quite a bit of calcium has shown up on the wall. There is at least 6-12 large pieces that are only held in place by sand and gravel. Additionally, there are several parts that was clearly meant to me level that simply wasn't i.e. if I put a 2x4 over the hole/crack, it would not lay flat. This year, I resolved to get this fixed by either repair or replacement. So I went on Angie's List to look for someone who could fix it. I came across A+Plus Concrete here and found the prices other people paid to be more than reasonable. The part that scared me was that he doesn't pour concrete, which concerned me since I thought that this wall was beyond repair. I called his number listed on Angie's List on August 22nd, and Gary got back to me that evening. Already a plus in my book, as most contractors don't call after 5, which is when I'm done at work. He said that he could come out on Saturday at 8:45am. He arrived right on time for the estimate, took a look at the wall (and my poor patch jobs) , and told me that he's fixed up walls that were in worse shape than this, and he gave me the quote that I've posted above. I called him again on the following Tuesday (Aug 28th) and he said that he could do Sept 5th, and he'd be here at 9-9:30am. He did say that he needed access to water and electricity. Both these things made sense to me, having mixed my own patch before, and frankly it's sensible to just use water and electricity that's available on site than have to bring your own (which is far less efficient). I mention this specifically alert any readers who may not realize this is probably a necessary requirement. When he came by today at 9:30, I pointed at my outlet on my porch, a good 20 feet away from where he'd be working, and asked if he needed an extension cord. He said yes, so I pulled out my extension reel for him. I asked if he needed me around at all while he was working, and he said no, but he'd need me around 3pm when he figured he'd be done. I told him that I work about 30 minutes from home, so if he could give me a call about 30 minutes before he finished, I could be there by the time he finished. At 2:15 today, he gave me a call saying that he'd be done in 15 minutes. I dashed on home and saw that he did a great job, or at least as good as could be expected. Some of the parts that were uneven before still looked uneven, but all the cracks and gaps had been filled and everything had been resurfaced, and it's definitely all smooth. Gary recommended that I don't get it wet for the next 24-48 hours (although the 1st 24 are the most important), and that in about 28 days, when it's fully cured, I should brush on concrete waterproofing to help seal it from the snow, ice and salt that it'll inevitably be exposed to. As I said, it's not perfect, but at the level that the wall was at before, perfection may have been too much to ask for without a complete rebuild. Instead, Gary provided the next best thing and at a considerably better price. Right now, it definitely looks good enough that if anything goes wrong with it, I don't think I can blame Gary, but instead blame the wall, since a repair job is only as good as the foundation that it's fixed upon, and I question the foundation at this point.
Description of Work: Repaired, rebuilt and resurfaced the left stringer/cheek wall of our front stairs (consisting of about 7 steps). It should be noted that the wall has had some problems for years.

I called Gary and he responded promptly to my call and we set up appt. for estimate quickly at my convenience. He arrived for estimate as scheduled - was very nice and professional to deal with. He emailed me my estimate quickly. We set the work up for within 3 weeks. He arrived promptly and had almost all work done in 1 day -second day to apply more finish & sealer. He was very good to work with - addressed any concerns/questions I had . Gary did a very neat and thorough job - the work looks excellent. He cleaned everything up after he was finished and temporarily blocked off the new areas of cement work to my satisfaction .I would definitely have him do further cement work and recommend him highly.
Description of Work: Repaired three large areas of driveway that had broken and crumbled. One that was especially difficult was at bottom of slanted driveway around rectangular sewer drain - a whole area of concrete had broken off. Another area was a whole square concrete slab area against house around gas meter. One metal railing leading up steps needed cemented at both top and bottom rails back into steps. Area of concrete curb ( several feet ) had broken off/crumbled- needed replaced. Small area of sidewalk needed patched.

Gary is very state-of-the-art. He uses really modern techniques and is very involved in the whole process. I felt confident that it was going to be repaired without damaging the surrounding structure, and that I wouldn't have to worry about his work in the future. He was meticulous and clean up after his work. With the job that he did and the quality of the work, I am so happy the price. He is so great to work with, too--he cleaned up and was fantastic in listening to me and made sure that I was pleased with the work he was going to do. I wish I had taken before and after pictures because it looks so wonderful now. I would highly recommend him and I think that anyone would be happy with his service.

was a breeze no problems at all! Like the name of the company implies: A+ !!!
Description of Work: Gary was so professional, efficient, timely, courteous and a very low maintenance contractor. He returned calls promptly, gave estimates promptly and showed up when expected. Highly recommend and would do business with again. Absolutely a breeze. Gary sealed our cement driveway, first by giving it a good power wash and then sealant . no muss, no fuss.
We have a very long driveway so it took the better part of a day. Work was done by the owner, he did a great job, showed up on time, and the driveway looks like it did the day they poured it. I would highly recommend Gary
Description of Work: We had our driveway which was installed about a year ago sealed to protect it from salt and staining. Gary also sealed our joints to protect them from braking apart.

Gary did an excellent job and was professional throughout the entire process. He promptly answered my initial phone inquiry, quickly came out to assess the sidewalk and provide an estimate, called me to discuss the estimate and to answer any questions, and scheduled the repair work within a reasonable period of time. He did a wonderful job on the repair work - it was done neatly, it looks great, and he completed the job in a timely and efficient manner. He was also very pleasant to work with on the phone and in person. I would recommend him to others.
Description of Work: Gary repaired two sidewalk pads in front of my house. The sidewalk pads were severely cracked and had pieces missing. Gary cleaned out the pads/cracked areas, filled the areas with concrete, put on a top coat and then resurfaced the pads.

The experience was professional and pleasant. Mr. Salerno is a very hard worker who is also extremely neat. We have already recommended him to others. His bid was precise, and when I went to write the check, I had forgotten about his Angie's List coupon, and he was kind enough to remind me and deducted the coupon from the total due.
Description of Work: Mr. Salerno repaired and restored our garage floor which was severely pitted and the surface around the drains had deteriorated to a great extent. After cleaning the garage floor, he power washed it and repaired the drains with a concrete solution, and then he neatly applied a bonding agent which had to dry overnight. The next day he applied a concrete solution to the entire floor making it once again even. Last, he applied a sealant. Mr. Salerno also repaired cracks in our concrete driveway.

Gary came to our house by appointment, looked over the conditions thoroughly, gave us a knowledgeable explanation of the problems, and suggested solutions. He broke out the job into four reasonable parts, quoted separately. We accepted the quotes for all four parts, and he scheduled the job within a month. He arrived promptly, worked efficiently and neatly, and was finished in one and one quarter days. The cracks are all filled. The grading is neat and clean, with minimum disruption to a garden in one case. We have asked Garry for quotes on more concrete work.
Description of Work: We have an unusual 100 year-old detached garage with a basement that had been fixed up as a garden room or workshop. The garage is built of terracotta tile blocks, and the mortar had deteriorated, leaving large openings between blocks in the basement room. In addition, there were cracks in the garage floor where open windows and previous roof leaks had contributed to the dampness in the basement room. A new roof had stopped the roof leaks, but the downspouts drained too close to the garage walls rain leaked through the basement walls. Gary Salerno, the owner, analyzed the problems correctly, and filled the cracks in the walls and garage floor, and regraded the ground next to two walls to divert rainwater away from the walls.

Very good experience. Gary is very professional, knows his business, showed up on time, and completed the job within time and budget estimated. Nice guy, too.
Description of Work: Gary, the owner and operator, repaired the sides of the steps up to my house, repaired the front of the porch right above the steps, and put a new surface on the entire concrete porch. This required grinding down the whole surface and the front above the steps, then putting several coats of priming material and then paint/sealant on it.

It was owned by a single person and he came out and did the work himself. He had a helper to throw up the basement walls using the fiber carbon strips that he recommended. This was to get our house ready to sell and it was sold it. I think it was a large part to the work he did in the basement. He was very accommodating. He was just very thoughtful in cleaning up after himself. He was just pleasant to have around the house because he was around for days. I would recommend him to anyone who wanted this kind of work done.

He also repaired the basement floor and sealed cracks and holes in the masonry. He was very patient with me and addressed every one of my concerns... just very nice to deal with. I had both the block wall on each side of my driveway and my Trex deck power washed. We agreed on the price of $475 (before the $50 coupon), and set the date. Gary arrived on time, started immediately and worked about 2 1/2 hours. In addition to power washing the deck, he also sealed it to help keep it clean. Both the wall and the deck look wonderful. Gary was efficient, polite, and very knowledgeable about his work. I am very pleased with the results, and I will definitely use Gary's services again for future concrete and power washing projects. I recommend him without hesitation.

Gary did everything he said and kept me updated throughout the process. He did a good job at explaining why each thing needed to be done and was willing to say that you could get a patch job for cheaper, but that it wouldn't last and the same thing would happen again. He finished in a day and a half and it looks great. Even my neighbor commented on how good it looks and how hard it is to find someone to do a good job with concrete repairs. I can't comment on the price, as I did not get any other quotes, but it seemed fair to me.
Description of Work: Gary fixed some concrete steps that were crumbling on the top and the seam to the house. He also fixed the elevated patio that had chunks of concrete falling off and recemented the concrete block sides under the patio. He powerwashed everything first, so the new concrete would stick better.

Gary arrived at 9 am and worked until 3pm. He was punctual, professional and knowledable. Since he has been here, there has not been ONE drop of water in my basement even with major rain and snow melt. The actual price came in LOWER than what I was quoted. I would defnitely use A+Concrete again and have already recommended Gary to friends.
Description of Work: I called Gary because I had water leaking into my basement and after talking with companies who wanted to put in a sump pump and french drains, I wanted someone to look at my cement front porch. Gary powerwashed the porch, patched three cracks, patched the front of the steps leading to the porch, sealed between the house and the porch, put down three coats of waterproofing on the porch and patched the ceiling in the basement where the most water damage had occured.

It is good news and bad news. We needed front concrete steps repaired due to crumbling. The Crack Team was responsive and able to come out on a short notice and tried to help us out before we had a lot of people coming to our office. That was helpful. But the work he did was not really as good as he had represented that it would be. He said he would color the surface of the repair work to better blend with the masonry and he did not do that. The steps were very uneven. He did not get them smooth like he said he would. We decided we were not happy with them for the price we paid. I tried to contact him to see if he would come back out and make it right. He was very unresponsive to my multiple attempts to communicate with him. He had said if we were not happy to contact him. I finally said please call me before I submit a report to Angie's List. He finally responded, came back out and made it right. He did not charge us to redo the project. We are happy with the end result but he was very hard to get to respond when we needed to follow up with him. We had him look at a second job inside our building. He was helpful as he looked at it and gave ideas on how it should be done. He said he would submit an estimate and never followed through on that. I contacted him several times and at least twice he said he would send the estimate and he never did. There is good and bad. The initial service was very responsive and helpful. But the end result was not satisfactory. He was unresponsive, but once he came back out he made it right. But then he did not follow through the second time and was extremely unresponsive again. He did end up following through and doing a good job. At this point I would have to say I would not use the Crack Team again.

Gary arrived on time and was courteous when he came to look at the job. He did not try to sell me an expensive fix. He knew how to fix the problem and told me what he would do. He quoted a price and it was the amount he charged upon completing the job. He was very respectful, practical, and honest and I would hire him again and again. After several hard rains, there is no water leaking into the house.
Description of Work: My front porch was leaking into the finished basement beneath it. The front porch floor is cement with a roof over it and brick walls around it. It had been painted several times and had carpet glued on it at least twice since it was built in 1930. I could see the cracks and the glue and several different coats of paint. A+ Concrete and Foundation Repair opened the cracks a bit and injected a sealer into the crack. He then smoothed hydraulic cement over the sealed cracks and built up a few low spots that collected water. He sealed a seam with silicon caulk and then sprayed a clear sealer over all the sealed cracks and seams.
