A+ PLUS CONCRETE & FOUNDATION REPAIR

Garry Salerno, Owner, runs a very professional concrete repair business. Most impressed by his responsiveness and punctuality. He returned my calls promptly. He showed up on the date & time agreed to assess the job and give an estimate. Liked what heard (knowledgeable about process of repairs, expressed uses superior concrete & sealant, backed claims up with 2-yr warranty). Warranty VERY important to me and was near impossible to get from others who gave estimates. Others would only warranty work if stoop & steps were completely demolished and repoured. They would not warranty patched repair work. My stoop was in bad shape but not to the point of requiring a very costly demolition. My thinking was confirmed when Mr. Salerno arrived for my estimate. In his professional opinion, my stoop & steps were 85% "still there". Cautious consumer that I am, Mr. Salerno was able to assuage my fears and apprehensions. I decided to move forward with him (though not least expensive estimate I got - - but again value of a 2-yr warranty trumped saving a few hundred dollars). This was a 2-day job. On day 1, a two-man team arrived on the date & time as promised! Joe & Chris were pleasant enough and wasted no time getting started. They hooked up to my outdoor water spigot and power washed my stoop & steps first. Then hooked up to my electricity to power an industrial fan to hasten the drying process. Joe & Chris worked well together with Joe applying the concrete and Chris right by his side directing air using a leaf blower and/or the powerful fan. They both worked diligently and only stopped once due to a down pour of rain. Their teamwork was again amazing as they quickly unplugged things, gathered up cement and buckets, covered my entire stoop & steps with a substantial grade plastic, and dashed into their professionally marked van to wait out the rain (and hopefully have lunch - - these were hard working men). Rain lasted an hour and they promptly re-set up and promptly continued working without any prompting from me. They were self-starters and a hard working team (though it seemed Joe was the Lead?). In fact, a week later on day 2 of the job, only Joe returned to do any necessary smoothing out, building up, sanding down, etc. (again very attentive to my needs). But they had done such a good job that touch ups were minimal. I was very impressed by Joe's patch work which he did "free-handed" and without benefit of any wooden forms. MOST impressive....and I don't use those words loosely! Amazingly, Joe and his trusty trowel returned the badly eroded corners of both of both steps back to almost good as new! After completing the touch ups Joe proceeded to carefully apply 2 coats of a tinted sealant (which matched my house's tan-ish beige wood trim almost exactly!). The sealant was the final step of the job and Joe cleaned up behind himself as carefully as he had set up and done the repairs! Professional, professional, professional. I have only 1 fear remaining: What will the harsh winter do to my lovely stoop & steps? But I'm not overly worried about that because, again, the value of a 2-yr warranty (and here's hoping the job was so well done it lasts beyond 2 years!). I have no doubt that Gary Salerno will stand behind his work and warranty. This is my first experience with Mr. Salerno. And he has already proven himself to be trustworthy. And he will be my first choice for any future concrete repair jobs I might need - - and have given him good word of mouth to two of my neighbors (one of which he has already been back out to give an estimate). I certainly can see why he named his company A+ Concrete & Foundation Repair. I agree!!

Our house is surrounded by a sea of concrete and the Siklaflex caulking was about 25 years old. They used self leveling caulk in many places because the joints were to wide for Siklaflex and other places they did use Siklaflex and other materials of which I do not know the name of after pulling out the old caulk.

It went very well, I was very pleased. Finding a contractor has been a harrowing nine months, The reason I left a B for the Price was because i was having trouble finding a reliable contractor and i was finally relieved to find a company like A+ after the many searches, estimates, and NO SHOWS for this project. While he was not the CHEAPEST estimate, and a little bit more than i had planned for my budget, he definitely was the most Professional, Reliable, and the ONLY company who would guarantee on their work. While he does not offer a senior citizen discount, he did offered a fifty dollar coupon from his listing in Angie's List.His confidence and his ability to do the work to the point of offering a guarantee gave me the confidence to try him out. And I am very glad I did. I am anxious to see how the repairs hold up through the winter, But he assures me that if i don't put any salt on my small stoop that the repairs should hold for two years or hopefully longer.

It went really well. Gary was easy to reach via phone and his team showed up on time and did great work. They were friendly and cleaned up after themselves.

They were amazing!!!!! They told me I didn't need to spend money on something I thought I did. They were on time, honest, beyond nice, great customer service, did an amazing job, they were on time every time. Would definitely use them again especially since they were so honest and did an amazing job.

He took his time with us and showed us several corrections that need to be made, even though his company doesn't handle the types of repairs we need. He was very professional, polite, and we were not charged for the consultation. I would definitely recommend this company.

Gary and his team were friendly and prompt. The work was neat. They had to come back several times to finish the job due to the weather. We are satisfied and will like to share before and after photos with others. Hopefully, we do not have to make any repairs to this for a long time.

Set up an appointment for estimate. Gary was right on time. He was very professional in explaining exactly what he would do and how it would be done. I had many questions and he answered them all. We had him come out a second time to go over some details and show him some additional work. The work date was scheduled. Gary and the crew showed up right on time and got busy. They worked through the day and worked very clean. We had a minor problem with electricity which we were able to solve in short order. They did the work, answered questions, and made a few adjustments along the way. I was very pleased with the work, the crew and the cost. I would use A+ again if the need arises.

I called A+ Plus Concrete & Foundation Repair the second week of July to schedule an estimate with the owner, Gary Salerno. Since I wanted a Saturday appointment, he could schedule me for the 25th of July between 9:45. Mr. Salerno arrived promptly and we showed him our garage walls and our concerns with cracks and peeling of of the one wall. We were concerned that we might be developing a problem with the foundation. After looking at the garage walls, he reassured us that the cracks ran with the seams of the blocks, it was just normal settling and nothing for us to worry about. It would be a different situation if the cracks appeared in the middle of a block. He stated that the cracks could be sealed and he would have all of the peeling removed and repaint the two walls. We also showed him where we were missing some mortar on the outside sections (right and left sides) of the garage. He listened to our concerns and was very professional and thorough when answering our questions. On 8/27/2015, his worker, Joe, arrived on time at 9:00 a.m.. We went over the work order and he explained what he was going to do. He then went about grinding and sealing the cracks. He brought it to our attention that one part of the wall was sticking out more than usual and he was about to remove the hanging sheet of paint. He wanted to know if we knew why it was sticking out so far but we told him that was the way it was when we bought the house but not as prominent. We told him to continue and if any problems would arise then we would face it at that time. When he fixed the area, it was remarkable. He did such a beautiful job making it blend into the rest of the wall. He explained that the block was very stable and there were no problems with it. It took all day for because it was a lot of work to grind, seal, prime and repaint the walls. He also replaced mortar on both sides of the garage lintel. When he was finished, we were extremely happy. It looked like a brand new garage. He cleaned up the area and left it immaculate. We are extremely satisfied with A + Plus Concrete & Foundation Repair. The owner is very professional and his worker was just fantastic. The price was very reasonable. We are keeping their number for any future work and would recommend them in a heartbeat. Gary stopped by my house to check why I am getting water in basement. He told me his honest opinion was to just grade the dirt from away from my house. To me that is a easy fix. He did not charge me and took the time to stop by .. I would use him if I ever have real water issues.. Thanks Gary

I had Gary come out last month (early August, 2015) and give me an estimate on some repair work I needed done on my side porch / garage. My porch contained a large crack which had been previously repaired by another company. Unfortunately, even though repaired, it managed to leak into the lower garage over time, causing some pretty significant water damage. Gary was called out to help re-seal the porch and get rid of any ongoing issues. Gary's estimate was fair and involved everything I needed done (which included): sealing several large previously repaired cracks; leveling the porch low-spots; repairing the garage ceiling water damage; and completely re-sealing the entire porch surface to help prevent any further leakage. His crew showed up promptly at 10am and got straight to work. They were courteous, professional, and did an excellent job with all aspects of the repair work. They explained everything as they went along and were finished in a timely manner. I highly recommend "A+ Plus Concrete & Foundation Repair" for any concrete or masonry work one may need done in the Pittsburgh and/or surrounding communities.

Contracting these guys was an aweful decision. Do not make this mistake. I dont even know how their rating is so high on this site. Here is why you do not want these people working at your home. 1) I hired these guys to repair my driveway and one step. The work was performed in September, by the following March everything was deteriorated. So they obviously did not know what they were doing or they used cheap materials. And I do mean EVERYTHING fell apart over 1 winter. 2) They have zero craftsman ship. My driveway looks aweful because of them. They came here and got the job done asap, they did not care how it looked. They did not even form my step with wood to repair it properly. They just buttered concrete on it, it looks soooooo bad..... everything just looks terrible. 3) They were 3 hours late, I took time off work to have them here working. 4) Before I contracted them they swore that they would warranty their work. After it fell apart, it was like pulling teeth to get them to come back. They finally came back, twice. Their work is still not 100% repaired, and I don't want them here anymore. Every time they touch my driveway, it looks worse and worse. They did another repair on my step and I said I wanted it done right and I want it formed and poured this time. They just buttered it AGAIN, it looks like garbage. This was honestly the worst experience of my life. Don't hire them, hire a real professional that knows what they are doing and does nice work. I don't even know how to fix what these people did to my home.

Our patio landing was originally done in slate tiles and over the years it started to crumble and fall apart. The service was to clean up the area and fix up the concrete that was under it. I called a couple of other places and they all quoted $2500 and above for the work. Gary quoted $1500 and did an excellent job cleaning the area, fixing up the concrete beneath it. The end result looks new.

They showed up on time. The work was completed in the specified time frame - 2 days. Hopefully this will extend the life of my driveway a few years and stop the cracks that were developing in my garage.

Gary the owner came out himself and gave the free quote. He is a very nice guy and will talk to you about the work and other things. Once he came out he emailed me the quote to go over what we talked about. There was a little bit of confusion on his part. When we did the original quote it was also work to be done on the sidewalk and he thought it was just listed as the steps. He originally quoted the steps to the front porch and the sidewalk. When he started the work he was only going to do the steps and was not going to do the sidewalk. When I showed him the email that had the original quote and the description I said those steps to the front are not a sidewalk. The public area right here is not a sidewalk. I had to go to a meeting and stuff like that so I told him I had to go. I pointed out to him what the sidewalk was. Then he did the sidewalk and it was rushed and a little bit sloppy, but at least it was done.

Gary provided a fair and helpful quote for the repairs we needed. Once hired, Gary showed up when he said he would and performed the work we expected him to do. We had a question days later about the size of the concrete pad, and Gary came back & made adjustments. There was a third item we felt needed a slight tweak and again, Gary was professional and accommodating, making sure we were satisfied with his work.

Gary Salerno, the owner, came to the house and then sent me an estimate on September 28. I called to schedule the work and was put on the list. The work then got scheduled for November 3. Two men performed the work, one did the repairs to the wall and birm and the other to the front sidewalk. They were very accommodating in doing what I wanted for the job. Unfortunately, I had a problem with the wall in that the material used to resurface it left streaks along the whole wall. I thought it might have to have time to cure but after a few weeks it still was streaked and so on November 24 called Gary and he said he would resurface it. Unfortunately the weather was too cold and so called Gary on May 27 to remind him. The wall was then resurfaced on June 13 and it looks wonderful. A different type of resurfacing material was used and it really looks good now. Concerning repairing the cracks on the front sidewalk, the patches came away from the rest of the existing cement. I don't know if it was due to the cold weather this past winter. But most of that problem was fixed because a large portion of my sidewalk was dug up in the spring when the gas company replaced all of the gas pipes on my street and the company concreted a portion of my sidewalk. So I would say that I am very pleased with the final outcome of the foundation wall and birm. As I said it looks wonderful. Not so sure about the sidewalk patches. There are still a few that the work done by the gas company did not concrete and the crack to the step that was rebuilt has started to appear. All in all, I would hire this company again because the owner fixed the problem I had called him about. and did a great job.

Gary came to the house and looked inside and out. He asked questions about how long we have been getting water, etc. He then told us quite frankly that we really did not need his services and proceeded to explain to my husband what to get and how to fix the outside of the house to prevent further water. He did say we could pay him to do it, but felt we could do it on our own. We had another contractor come for the same issue (appointment was previously schedule). That contractor definitely sent a salesperson to look. He never looked at the outside, he was rude and in the end gave us an estimate of $5,643 and could not do the work until September. Needless to say, my husband got to work right away fixing it himself and with this last deluge of rain, our basement was DRY! Thank you Gary. You seem to be a person of integrity and I will recommend you every time.

Excellent work by Gary. I have used him twice and he does great work at a fantastic price. Did the job on time and didn't leave any sign he was there other than the work being done. I trust one of my largest investments to Gary. Can't say much more than that.

Gary performed work for us starting in July 2014. He used bright white fill for pock marks in driveway even though our driveway is sand colored. It looked very unprofessional in my opinion. I called Gary and he tried to convince me that this was the normal way it looks after work is completed and that it would fade over time. We had family and friends visit us a few weeks later and they asked if we had done the driveway ourselves--a testament to how unprofessional it now appeared. I called Gary again and told him about these comments. He offered to paint the spots a darker color. After he painted a few test spots darker, he did not respond to my voicemail and texts asking that he come back to the house to finish the job. On 10/15/14, my husband sent him an email advising him that he needed to get back to us. Finally, he came back to take care of it. As you can see from the photos, even after painting them, they did not look like the rest of the driveway. Gary had suggested we powerwash and seal the driveway in order to prevent further deterioration of the driveway. The money we spent to prevent further damage did nothing. By this spring, not only had most of Gary's fill and caulking come out, we had much more significant damage to the driveway. In addition, much of the paint he had used had come off, leaving a chipped paint appearance. He arranged to come out June 4th but never advised us of a time. We were not home and had to call him back out because during his time there, all he did was repaint the front pad. He came out again on the 21st and said he would be back to address the remaining issues, yet I still haven't heard from him. This has been ongoing since July 2014 when the work was originally initiated. I am tired of having to chase him and I feel we have waited long enough to get the work completed in a professional fashion. I have lost faith in his workmanship and now I will have to pay someone else to re-surface the driveway and repair the damage.

The professionalism of A+ Plue Concrete & Foundation Repair exceeded our expectations from the beginning phone call through the completion date of the work and even after. Mr. Salerno took the time to inspect and provide a throrough estimate and explain exactly what needed to be done in a professional easy to understand manner. Upon scheduling the work, we found that he was punctual and began the job right on time. The work was preformed quickly and all work met staisfaction. There was a very small issue 24 hrs following completion and upon being notified, Mr. Salerno resolved the issue immediately and without question. It is our feeling that A+ Plus Concrete & Foundation Repair went above and beyond and we would gladly recommend them as well as use their services again in the future if the need arises.

Gary returned my initial call promptly (he was the only one of 4 providers to do so) and within two days, he came to my property to analyze the work that I needed done. My insurance company was requiring that the small retaining wall adjoining the rear steps leading to the basement entrance was buckling and crumbling and needed to be repaired and that the bottom two steps of that rear entrance were crumbling and unsafe as well. Gary determined that this was not work that he normally performed, but he took on the job, provided what I thought was a very reasonable estimate and scheduled a date about 2-1/2 weeks later. Greg and John arrived promptly and were done in about 5-1/2 hours. The retaining wall was rebuilt and the extremely heavy bottom two concrete steps were removed, shored up and evened out. They also installed and painted a handrail along one side of my basement steps so that the area is now both safe and attractive. However, my insurance company was still not entirely happy with the rebuilt retaining wall and I called Gary to explain this. With no hesitation, he scheduled another visit by Greg and John, who improved the wall to the satisfaction of my insurance company. I was very happy with professionalism of A+ and the results achieved and would definitely use this company again.

Gary was professional and courteous from day 1. When I called initially he returned the call promptly. He came to assess the problem area and provided a thorough explanation of how they would make the repairs. He came out in February and he called as promised at the end of March to schedule the job once the weather broke. They arrived on time on the day of the job. Unfortunately it started to rain almost immediately after they finished the job. The plastic they put on the stoop to try to prevent damage caused wrinkle marks to dry in the cement. We contacted Gary on Saturday to explain what happened. He came back out Monday morning to fix it. In a series of unfortunate events 10 minutes after Gary left the second time we had a service contractor for the gas company walk onto the stoop in spite of there being caution tape. Needless to say he left big footprints in the freshly done cement. Again we called Gary and he responded promptly. He came back Wednesday and resurfaced with no questions asked. The stoop looks great! This job was definitely a test of patience which Gary passed with flying colors!! I would recommend Gary and A+ Concrete and Foundation Repair to anyone needing this type of work. I will definitely call them again in the future should I need any concrete repair.
