+ -1 moreFound Jim on Angies list. I needed a non-standard opener that the big box stores do not carry and Jim was one of the recommended installers from the company who makes the opener. Jim spent a lot of time helping me with door selection. Answered a ton of questions. He installed the door when promised. Door and opener are great. It need a small adjustment and we wanted to add a feature, He was back the next day. Squeezed me in to his schedule. Everything is great. I would recommend him highly.

+ -1 moreWhen one of 2 main cables that lowers/raises door became unspooled, it was repaired in 15-min for the price of a service call. Although the service call price was a bit more than expected--however, i must admit that I have not had a service call for any reason in years, so my assumed estimate was likely conservative by today's standards--the work was completed w/in 30-min of my call, so I have no complaints. Very pleased with the service.

Description of Work: The Big Deal for a garage door tune-up and safety inspection was purchased on August 12th with a Rapid Connect guarantee of August 14th. After I did not hear from the provider by August 19th, I called Angie's List. I was told to contact the provider which I was not able to do until August 20th. The provider, Jim, stated that he does not do the Big Deals anymore and has not done them for over a year.

They initially apologized for any confusion and we opted to schedule them anyway even though it did not sound as though they would honor the deal (I can't be sure of that though). They no showed for their appt with us and we never heard back from them.

Description of Work: Jiom had to first get the garage door down safely the top 2 sections were in the tracks one wheel out i had to put a rod thru it keep it from collapsingso we put the bottom sections the nwe droped the ohter 2 on top had to readjust torsion springs t then straight out the track

+ -1 moreWhen they repaired it they over-tightened the springs. About a week later our garage door opener failed. We called Jim and he took a look at it and three days later they repaired the garage door opener for free. When the door failed, I went to open it manually and it flew open which it's not supposed to do. But he came out and made it right.

+ -1 moreI was extremely pleased with Jim's promptness, price, and attention to detail. I highly recommend him.
Description of Work: I have a two-bay garage with powered door openers for each overhead door. One spring on one door snapped which rendered the door inoperative and trapped one car inside (the force also split one of the metal brackets supporting this opener - but I did not see that until Jim and I were looking over the damage). Also, unrelated to the broken spring, neither door had functioned properly for some months - each required multiple pushes on the button to be raised or lowered. I set the appointment for after 12:00 noon and, on the appointed day, he showed up almost exactly at 12:00 noon. I looked at the replacement of the spring and the adjustment of the other door as being two jobs. Jim gave me an estimate of $135 for the spring replacement. For this price he replaced both springs on the broken door, installed a metal splice to fix the split metal bracket, and adjusted the other door so that they both worked perfectly. He then lubricated all of the rollers on both doors and told me how to maintain them in the future.

+ -1 moreI phoned Jim at Horizon, one of three companies I contacted, to come look at our old wooden garage door and determine if it could be repaired or would require replacement. He made an appointment to come and assess the situation, which he did, arriving on time on April 18th. He discussed the benefits of repair versus replacement and was fair in his assessment. He left me with an estimate, and a time frame. He required no money down. I ordered the door in April and expected installation 6 weeks later. This was the only problem; when the door came in, Jim was busy and so installation was delayed two weeks. On the appointed day, June 12th, Jim and a colleague arrived on time and went about their work efficiently. They took about half a day to remove the old door and install the new one, including replacing the old frame, the tracks, everything. They cleaned up well and the new door works beautifully. They charged exactly what they estimated.
Description of Work: Garage door replacement, including removal of old wooden door with rotting bottom panel, installation of new track for door and new frame around door, reattachment of electric door opener, installation of rubber seal at bottom of door.
