Description of Work: Recently had both the front and back door to a 100 year old townhome replaced. Guida provided a nice selection of styles and since they are custom made, the odd sized doors were not a problem. Installers arrived a little late but worked hard and completed the job well within the expected time (2 doors removed and replaced in 6 hours). Cannot speak to the quality of the doors or the weather proofing as they are still brand new and have not had to face much bad weather yet. Can say that Guida provided excellent customer service and I would recommend them to anyone who asked.

Description of Work: They were prompt and professional through the entire process. They kept me informed of the timelines and met them. When my brand new, beautiful door was vandalized, they were more than willing to help me and ensure I also got a replacement. Although they aren't the cheapest, I never felt I was overpaying for the quality or the service and would definitely use them again for other projects.

Description of Work: The two installers replaced the cracked door frame, replaced the entry and storm doors. They created a new transom window for the opening that was above our existing door. Lastly, Guida created the gate work that served as both a security and decorative overlay. They were responsive, punctual and installed a sharp looking door and doorframe.

What I liked most about these guys was in addition to working with Steve, the Sales Manager, I also worked with an owner, John Lomonaco, who is the Production Manager. It gets no better than 'I hear you and promise to get it right' coming from the people who are directly responsible for making that happen - - and they did. Steve's laptop presentation was professional; John, too, was professional and especially helpful through the selection process; and Bob ---Bob, the installer corrected a couple items with the inside door locks, which had nothing to do with the security door installs. The inside door locks, which were improperly installed by another company, compromised my home's security. A couple days after placing the order and leaving the deposit, I received a Thank You letter in the mail and a few days after the install I received a Congratulations letter. I even received a voicemail from Anne, wanting my feedback about my experience with their company. Overall, I'm giving a solid B. I definately considered the A rating, but there's just no getting around their pricing. While they did give me a discount from the original price quote, the adjusted price was still high.

I would use Guida again in a heart beat. From the Salesperson to the installer were wonderful. Any time I had a question Ron Jr. got back to me within hrs. The door I replaced and the side lights were installed in the early 1940's so needless to say there was so much trouble with the front door not locking letting air in and now matter what was done just did not look very inviting. When my daughter stopped by the house to see the door she stood outside for 5 mins just looking at it and saying how wonderful it looked. Very happy with everything.

Our house was broken into and the glass sidelight to the door. The company we bought the door from is out of business and the glass company gave me Guida contact info. Steve and Fran helped me and they were extremely professional, responsive, and quickly got me a quote and emailed me the details. We didn't use them because we found someone in area that located the window. Anyone who live in PA and needs someone should call this company because based on their professional and quick response I am sure they deliver a high standard as well.

When the windows and doors were installed, everything seemed fine. The installation crew was professional and did a good job. There were a few minor problems but they fixed them right away. When they were here they stated that there was a lifetime guarantee which they didn't specify what the warranty covered. We explained that our old windows were coming down from the top and the salesman guaranteed us that we wouldn't have the same experience with these windows. I have a written guarantee for the doors but they didn't provide me with anything other than their verbal guarantee for the windows. Now that we are 5-6 years later, the windows have started to come down from the top again - although we were guaranteed not to have that problem. When we contacted them about this issue, they stated that the window guarantee was for glass only and not the frame. Addendum After this report I found that there was a misunderstanding and the issue was resolved. It was amazing. They couldnt have been any nicer.

Their price was really high. It was not a very pleasant experience. It was difficult to get details from them. They have just too much overhead in the company. It’s really hard to get the problems addressed to them. The owner was great. The installer was very unprofessional. Overall I was not happy with them. I wouldn’t highly recommend them. I wouldn’t use them in the future.

Response from Guida Door & Window
At Guida, we take our customer's concerns very seriously. We have worked extensively with the customer to satisfy her requests regarding her expectations with the custom security storm door and matching transom she received. We have done everything we could to address any of her issues, including remaking a new custom transom at her request. Based on recent conversations with the customer, her concerns and issues seem to have been resolved to her satisfaction.

. Everything went well. They told me that it would take four to six weeks to get the doors and windows custom made and in exactly six weeks it was ready and the installer came out and the job was all completed in two days. We had couple of issues with the sweeps. They had to make new sweeps and it took them a week or two and brought them back. The thumpers were keyed on both sides. I wanted them all keyed on one side. Those are still in the process and that is the only thing that is left over. If there is a need, I will use them in the future.

I love them. It's about $6000 for 8 windows. Their product is terrific as are their installers. I would definitely recommend people to get quotes from them first because their product is excellent. I have a peculiar house and everything has to be custom ordered and custom made. They come in and they do the job quickly and efficiently - no problems. I was pleased with the price even tho I did not get other bids I felt I was being charged fairly. The installation went quickly; the installers were lovely people. They cleaned up perfectly. Just a positive experience all around and we love the windows!
Description of Work: I bought 8 windows from Guida Doors& Windows. Of the 8 windows there were 5 different sizes, none of them standard in any way. We had a few finished with a Solar E-coat. It only took 4 weeks to get the windows, which were all custom made. "Elements Windows by Softlight" - very nice product.

The good part first...the installation and the quality of the product is excellent. As the doors and frame had to be customized to fit our house it took more work and longer install time than normal. The craftmanship on the install was excellent. Very Happy with the product. Now the bad part......getting to the installation. Met with Larry their sales person who came to our house for measurments. What I thought would be a 20 minute process turned into 2 hours. The company is not computerized so Larry had to write and calculate the order by hand....three times. Their pricing is suspicious. Basically they raise their prices to give you a " discount". It is confusing, even for Larry the sales guy. Everytime he wrote the order the numbers were different. Even with the discount they were more than Pella. However they offered several things that Pella did not - customized color matching, hinges, door hardware, etc. I wanted break resistant glass and was told no...they only have one type of glass. However they sell themselves as a custom door manufacturer. We came to a number. I figured they would send a proper proposal and invoice. They Don't...everytime I asked for one they said they would send it to me. They didn't. I even went to their office and met with Ron Jr...the son. He promied me a proper computerize legible invoice. It never arrived. Delivery day came. They did not ask for a dime. then at 4.38PM when the installation is finished the installer hands you a bill and wants a check. I had a huge fight with Ron Jr. the son as I told him I would not pay without an invoice. They give you this run around. I paid the installer the number that was on the original invoice. In closing, the loss is really to Guida. The reason to use them on our personal house was to see how good / bad their company is. Were were looking for companies to work with on the ronovation of our office building. So while Ron Jr. was playing around to screw us out of a thousand bucks or so. Guida lost out on a commercial project that included $89,000 for vinyl siding, $ 15,000 for roofing, 36 windows and 5 doors. Guida's problem is typical for a family business. They hire the "kids" who all think they are hot shots. And bascially they have no idea of business. It about doing the right thing and being honest. A lesson that cost them $ 217,000 in future business.

Response from Guida Door & Window
This customer's issue with the company has been resolved to their satisfaction. The Member has even encouraged Guida to respond to this complaint on Angies List, and mention that it has been resolved. This complaint is based on the customer's desire to receive a typed invoice, in addition to the written contract he signed and received on the initial date of sale. It was an honest mistake that this was not sent to him prior to installation. However, it was immediately mailed to customer the day after. The customer's main concern with Guida was not with the quality of the product or workmanship that he received, rather that he did not receive a computerized invoice.

They are very responsive. The salesman, Larry Miller is very, very thorough. We wanted a storm/screen door for the back of the house. The door is small - 29 3/4 inches wide - the standard door is 32 inches and sometimes you can find a 30 inch door. We had contacted several other companies before we found Guida. They all talked about cutting away the existing door frame - all kinds of craziness. One guy refused to even get involved once he saw what was needed. Larry said "No problem" We now have a fabulous back door that was CUSTOM built to the proper size without having to alter anything on the house. The door fit the house instead of trying to make the house fit the door. Originally we were told it would take 8 weeks to get it, it was done in 5 weeks. The installer came in and just whizzed through the job with no problems at all.

The work went well, but it was kind of cheesy. They installed a steel frame door over the existing framework. It is fine if the existing framework is in good condition, but mine particularly wasn?t all that great. It is going to work long enough for me because I am not going to live in this house forever. However, their price was right. They charged me $1200, which meant that I only needed to pay for the materials. They advertised free installation, so I can write off the entire $1200 under taxes. I didn?t have to pay taxes, so I went with them. The reality is that as I get the government check back it is going to be about $850.

Pretty good overall. My door is small (28.5") so I couldn't use a standard door from Lowes or Home Depot. I contacted Guida and their sales rep, Wayne (very nice guy), came to my home, measured the door, and gave me an estimate of ~$685. I called him back a few days later and asked for a lower price based on other estimates, and we agreed to $640. Two months later (yes, a VERY long delay) after calling Guida several times they finally told me my door was ready to be installed. The installation went well with only minor issues (below). Overall, the door is fairly high quality, but there are several jagged edges and I feel that a standard door from Anderson would have been higher quality. Also, the door sweep on the bottom of the door is way too short because my stoop isn't even (a very common condition on old Philadelphia row homes.) I was surprised that Guida didn't have a solution to this problem, as it is so common. I am going to have to find a long door sweep and custom cut it myself, something I would think a professional door installation service would have done. Overall I don't have any big complaints - the door is pretty nice, but it wasn't a perfect transaction in my opinion. If your door is a standard size, I would recommend getting an Anderson or something comparable.

Very good experience. We visited the showroom, saw a lot of doors to choose from on the floor, and even more in the books. Didn't feel too much pressure from the salesman, although they were getting ready to close by the time we were completing our paperwork. The doors came in within the time promised, and the installer showed up when he said he would. Once the main entrance door was brought out of the truck, my husband noticed that the finish was not correct. We had paid extra for a certain woodgrain finish. The installer said he would go ahead and install the one he had, and could then see whether the size and fit were correct. This was a custom-made door, not a standard size. He hung the door, replacing our entire front door jam and sill area (which it needed) and the fit was perfect. He said he'd take care of the re-order and estimated how long it would take. Within that time frame, the new door came in and the same installer came back and quickly removed the incorrect door and installed the second one. It, too, was a perfect fit. This was many months ago and I still love opening both the storm (security) door and the entrance door every night when I get home from work. Note: The products of this company aren't inexpensive, but having looked at other places, I feel the quality was worth the extra money.
