Gomez General Contracting / Big G Roofing & More

I DO NOT recommend Big G Roofing. They did a full roof replacement on my home in 2020. I purchased this home in 2022 and in only 3 years later it's leaking and they will NOT come to repair the roof even though it is under warranty. They refuse to transfer the warranty as almost all roofing companies do. Even when asked if I can then just have the previous owner call to have the roof repair, they still will not do it. So they will not honor a warranty, transfer a warranty, or honor it to the name associated with the warranty. They put their name on this roof and will NOT stand behind there work. I have called multiple times over the past few days speaking with multiple people and "their boss" will not honor their warranty. My great grandfather, grandfather, father, and myself are all small business owners. The one thing you learn is that you need to put your name and reputation into your work. As you can see from their terrible reviews, they do not do that.

BE AWARE !!! DO NOT use this Company by any means => Big G = Big Gambling. I had a leak in 2 parts of my roof, they were close to each other, both caused by the same issue. I got a flyer in the mail from Big G stating "We're in the neighborhood...call us". I call them, met with Mr. Juan Martinez from Big G Roofing, we went to see the roof and got in a contract to make the repair for $3K on Feb. 9, 2019. The contract had one-year guarantee covering any issue with the repair. Big G did the repair on Friday 22 and Saturday 23, Feb. 2019. They didn’t install the tiles to test the roof but didn’t rain. The following weekend, they tested the roof with my garden water house (big mistake). The job was supposedly completed on March 06, 2019. I paid the pending amount the same day. On May 2019 started raining frequently, and on the 3rd week the leak showed up again in the same spot but worst than before. I reported the problem to “Big G” but nobody showed up in a month. I had to buy and install myself construction plastic barrier to cover the roof and mitigate the leak. On June 26, tired of making phone calls, I sent an email to Ivan Gomez (Big G) stating that if doesn’t take care of the problem immediately, I would hire another roofer and Big B had to pay for the costs. The next day Mr. Juan Martinez showed up to see the problem and sent the roofers on Saturday June 29. The roofer removed the tiles, applied a coat of roofing asphalt cement that got in home depot, and left the tiles aside to return the next day to finish the work. The roofer told me that “Big G” pay per job to him and that in my house he got only $500. After that day he never returned to finish the work and Big G didn’t return my call ever again. It did make sense to me what Big G did: paid $500 to a roofer, saved $2500 for them, and doesn’t take responsibility or honor the guarantee of the work. On July 26, big rain Friday night and the leak got worse, around 9:25 p.m. a section of the ceiling felt to the floor, when I was cleaning out another part of the ceiling felt on my head. The hole in the ceiling was about 4' x 6'. I made an emergency call to another roofer that met previously. The new roofer showed up on Saturday July 27 and we got in contract for another 3K. This roofer did a good job and the problem was resolved. Including the new roofer, the handyman that replaced the ceiling, the painter to eliminate the mold and paint all the related area, about 4 times, I ended up paying $ 6K additional. I did a claim in court for negligence and bridge of contract. His attorney has asked 3 times for time extension with the argument that "need more time to know the case”. At this moment, I am waiting for the court day. Case number: coso19014363 in the courthouse of Hollywood, Broward County.

Excellent work. Completed needed repairs from winter storm damage. Had a leak about 2 months after repair. Came out on time, professional, found my siding had separated fixed on spot w/ no charge and a smile. These guys are great. 3rd time I have used them. Highly recommend.

Sounded like the cause of the leak was found and I scheduled the service which included a full roof maintenance. The worker that showed up was only here for 10 minutes. Needless to say the roof still leaks at the same spot.

Gomez roofing said that they would replace the flashing along the entire back of my roof. they also promised a downspout and to redo the tar coating around the parameter of the roof . As you can see from the attached picture they only put a small patch on one side of the roof and did not seal it all the way. on the tar patching no fiberglass seam tape was used. in the initial estimate they said that it would be necessary to use fiberglass tape to keep the tar from cracking and shrinking . also gutter did not extend all the way in to drain. did not return calls back.

responded quickly to all calls, scheduled promptly. two minor issues. had to adjust sistered beam on porch floor to allow deck boards to lie flat, and several attempts to get roof gutter drain sealed

Both jobs went well. Repair and tune up took under an hour, went fine - and they came within a day or two of my initial call. I'm sure it helped that we mentioned we also wanted a quote on replacement. Roofing job did need 2 sheets of plywood, covered by initial contract price. Extra plywood beyond 2 sheets had been quoted at $65 each if needed. Job was done in a single day - rip off and replace, including synthetic felt, ice barrier film, new gasketed flashings for vents, etc. Crew did good job of cleaning grounds. Roof looks good, has not leaked after 2 storms. Only tiny glitch was some nails left behind in gutters which were otherwise blown clean during cleanup. When I called about the gutters, they promptly returned to recheck and empty all gutters, and even blew clean the driveway, where the dumpster had now been removed which shook loose some small debris. They left me with a full unopened pack of shingles for any future repair needs. Would happily use them again, assuming that we continue to enjoy no leaks and roof wears well. Roof is only a few weeks old :)

They did a fantastic job. The roof was replaced in a day, we also had gutter guards installed as well. They were punctual, respectful and did an amazing clean up job. When they left you would never have guessed an entire roof was replaced that day. I can't comment on the gutter guards yet but hoping this fall they will make a big difference.

They did a great job. Ivan Gomez, the company president, came out on a Wednesday, gave me an estimate that was very fair, and they were here the following Monday first thing and finished the job in a day. They were prompt, courteous, professional, and did fine work for far less than the other estimate I had gotten. I would definitely hire them again to work on my home.

The company was great. I called and they came out the same day and fixed the problem. I would most definitely use and recommended them again.

I really liked the way they were so willing to come up with the answers and just the way they do their business. I haven't hired them yet so I can't really say anything about them. I just liked the way they did their estimate. I've had other estimates and they really seem to know what they are doing. Someone is telling me they will match their price but I really think I'm going to go with Gomez, I really like them, I'm pretty sure I'm going to. I had a lot of questions about roof vents, ridge vents, roof fans, I just had a lot of questions. They answered my questions way more professional than anyone else has. Because I have had other estimates I know what to look for and I know what questions I'm asking. I'm well versed on it now and they were the best.

Ivan Gomez responded right away and it turns out it was not his problem at all. The gutter was blocked with leaves causing it to overflow. They fixed it anyway for which I am very grateful. That's why I used then for all my work and that's why I highly recommend them. Good people. Good Company.

Overall : Good. I would have appreciated if the contractor spoke with customer (me) after completing the work to provide an update rather than just driving off. His supervisor indicated that his team will typically not talk to the home owner after finishing the work. However the supervisor indicated that everything is good and no other issues were found and invoice will be mailed.

Fine. They weren't here that long. They were the only ones that called back quickly and were here when they said they would be.

They did a very nice job. They did a good job. They They were here during the winter because part of the roof did actually leak but it wasn't completely their fault. It was just something that didn't get caulked properly. But somebody came out with some caulk and gave us some caulk to fix it. They worked on the roof last fall. I might use them again, but I'd still look around though before hiring them again. It takes a lot to get an A out of me. You have to be way over the top notch type thing. They did a good job and I would recommend them but I wouldn't give them an A. I don't know how to tell them to be better. Some companies just go over the top for you and some do a very good job and do exactly what they promise and that's it.

They were punctual, addressed all concerns. When they came back to complete a few things they did not clean well. Little papers were left on our lawn. But this was a minor thing. Overall great.

I used them last year. This was for a roof job. They did a good job in terms of pricing. Also the people are very professional; they also did a very good job in quality.

The experience was great. We have actually hired Gomez Contracting several times over the last three years. We have hired Gomez Contracting to put on a new roof, siding, shutters, soffits, an attic fan, and complete general repairs. Simply put, they are the best in the area. Their work is great and the pricing is very fair. Tom B. is very responsive and personable. He communicates well and is punctual. (It is refreshing to know that a company values customers' time, which is not always the case with contractors). Tom B. and his crew are careful and respectful of customer property; they do their best to protect property and spend a lot of time cleaning up (again, refreshing as some companies fail to see the importance of leaving property clean and safe once the job is done). In short, I cannot say enough good things about Gomez Contracting, Tom B. and the crew. The work they do is always well done, hence why they have become our "go-to" contractors. I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of general contracting.

Tom and his crew did an excellent job. He was very professional and explained everything thoroughly. Tom was available in case we had any questions. He walked our property with us after the roof was installed to ensure we were satisfied. The roof looks great and we could not be happier. Thank you Tom, and Gomez Contracting!

I can not say enough about Tom and the work that was done at my shore house. He responded to my questions immediately and came when he said he would. The property was neat and clean when the job was done and they even cleaned up as they were working on the roof. The roof is perfect. This is the fourth time I have used Gomez General Contracting and I will use them again should the need arise. They are courteous and professional. I could not ask for more from a contractor.

Work was excellent. Job site was completely clean after completed. They helped me with obtaining the necessary permit as the building was historic. They were very responsive and arrived when they said they would. I will use this company again and recommend Gomez General contracting to anyone for business or personal jobs.

It was great. the price was a little more than other companies but the work was fenomenal clean up was absolutely inmaculate. I am glad I went with them, I will recommend them to everyone .

Very well. Gomez General Contracting was referred to me by a friend who said they did good work. I scheduled an estimate online and Ivan was out the next day with Tom to do the estimate. They explained the process and answered all my questions. I felt as though I was in good hands. I did an apples to apples comparison even though Gomez used better materials and they were fairly priced. I chose them because they did not play games like some of the others with their proposals. It's been about a month since the roof was installed and it looks great and no issues. They even cleaned up all the debris as I was worried about the nails from the roof the took off. I highly recommend Ivan and his crew .
