I initially spoke with the owner's wife on a Wednesday and she did warn that they were extremely busy, however, she would try to work us in for the estimate Thursday morning or Sunday. I received an email from her Thursday morning notifying me that her husband was booked for Thursday morning but they were looking to come out Saturday morning. She was supposed to give me a call Friday evening to schedule. She never got back to me as she had mentioned she would in an email. I specifically selected John Shinn Roofing based on the excellent reviews as I had mentioned to the owner's wife.

Entire project went very well. Started as planned and finished as promised. John even came after the completion and took me to the roof and explained in details what is done in the roof and answered all my concerns clearly. I had three stone chimneys and he explained how the flashing was installed and also recommended me how to take of them. He went beyond my expectation. John is extremely knowledgeable and courteous, taking time to discuss all options that would meet our needs, offering advice, and educating us without doing a "hard sell." The job estimate was very detailed. He and his team worked very carefully -- leaving no "surprise problem" unsolved, leaving no mess behind, and in the end, provided a superior product and exceptional service, at a very reasonable price. I couldn't be more delighted with the results. The job was completed in a single day. Integrity and Efficiency well describe this company.

There was a bit of a slow start due to inclimate weather, but once it was started, it went like lightning. Communication between myself and Mr. Shinn's office was clear and consistent throughout the entire process of scheduling and getting an estimate. Mr. Shinn and his crew were courteous and professional to my wife and made it a point to contact me directly when an unexpected complication arose. His pricing was, bar none, the most reasonable (and I researched a dozen other places). Mr. Shinn's experience is apparent by the fact that he brought an appropriate number of workers to get the job completely finished (including cleanup) in just a few hours. When I got home, there wasn't even a trace that anyone had been there at all, save the new roof of course. It was an absolute pleasure to have done business with this man, his office, and his crew. I would not hesitate to retain their services in the future and I wholeheartedly encourage others to consider them for projects as well.

I'm a weekender in pa & asked my realtor to recommend a roofer when we were having a moisture problem in my attic---thought it was a roof leak--John came out immediately & surveyed the situation--turns out it was caused by a non-vented gas fireplace---in speaking to him we built a rapport & i decided then he would be the roofer i called in the spring when it was time to replace the roof---he came out, gave me an estimate & some roofing samples & was able to do the job the following week----John & his crew were very courteous and went out of their way to do an outstanding job!---let's just say i'm VERY picky & everything exceeded my expectations!! Everything was cleaned up & my house & property looked like no one had been there--BOTTOM LINE---showed up when he said he would, did everything he said he would---what else can you ask for?? this is a no-brainer---just call John!

Punctual. Was a bit worried about skylights; however, the owner John Shinn kept explaining until I was satisfied. The workmanship looks great! So happy I can let my anxiety about a leaking skylight go by the wayside. I would recommend John's company to anyone who was looking for a fair price coupled to quality workmanship. I'm going to reuse John when I do the upper portion of my roof next year. A job well done!

John is refreshingly honest. He explained our options and he detailed what he was going to do. His estimate was spot on. We luckily didnt have issues. It may sound odd but my wife even had commented how smoothly it all went.

Overall, a great experience. Mrs. Shinn always made herself available should I have questions or concerns. Mr. Shinn and his men did a thorough yet efficient job with my roof, and managed to put up with our nosy, disrespectful neighbor, for which I'm forever grateful. This provider offers exemplary service at an affordable price. Due to weather (rain) we had to wait a little for our installation, but they always kept us in the loop with updates on our installation date. On the actual installation date, they were prompt, worked non-stop with a short lunch, and continued through to completion. Once the roof was done, they did a very thorough clean up which included going around the property with a giant magnet looking for loose screws, nails, etc. This attention to detail along with the beautiful roof make me happy to recommend them!

I found John to be a very nice person and he sat down with me and explained in detail about the new roof and shingles and everything that was going to be done. He came over right away when I called and I had a date for the work to be done in less than two weeks. I appreciated the promptness since so many workers say they are going to come and don't show up. And when they do, they make you wait so long. I found the price I was quoted to be reasonable for the quality of materials used and all the things that were included. His wife was very sweet and kept me informed of everything from start to finish. My new roof looks really nice and I like the high quality of the materials that were used and the work that was done. John showed up on time to do my new roof and with five other workers, the job was finished in less than one full days time. They cleaned up well when they were finished and it looks like no one was there except for my beautiful new roof. I am very happy with my new roof, with the exceptional quality of the work that was performed and I also received a 7 year guarantee on my roof. The estimate was written and accurate. . When it was time to replace the roof the crew came early in the AM and worked until the job was complete. I would recommend Mr. Shinn to anyone interested in replacing their roof, I will certainly use Mr. Shinn for any future work I would require, and consider him an honest resource. The roof looks great We were given multiple options in shingle prices and colors. He and his wife both returned phone calls and answered our questions. We were pleased to find someone who has been in business locally and with experience to come to our home to perform the job The price was very reasonable and the job was completed promptly

Mr. Shinn was everything we value in a contractor. He replied immediately to each communication we sent him (whether it be through Angie's List, email, or by phone). He also followed up after each meeting or phone-call. He gave us such a THOROUGH evaluation of our roof and the options we had for replacing it, that we felt very confident about making decisions thereto. He obviously possesses the vast knowledge of one who has specialized in quality roofing for many years, takes pride in his profession, and has great personal integrity. The only reason we didn't hire Mr. Shinn was that we decided to add an addition to the home and chose to employ a general contractor for the entire sum of the work. John and his wife Chris(who manages the office) are wonderful people. They helped me through the whole process of estimates, materials and even securing financing. My mom's house needed a new roof and I was going to help her finance it because between my salary and her fixed income we needed someone who could do the job right and at a great price. John came in with the best estimate long and by far. They maintained a great line of communication with me, were open and up front about everything and even scheduled my job quickly. John and his crew came in just one day completely ripped down and replaced my entire roof. Everything was cleaned up perfectly ad you can easily see the roof was done by someone who has some great skill. I can sleep at night no longer worrying about replacing shingles after storms and having wet spot to paint over post heavy rains. When you replace your roof, the timing is at the mercy of the weather, but the result was well worth the wait. John Shinn and his wife were very professional and easy to work with. John presented his estimate and explained each step in the removal and replacement process - why each was important and the pros/cons of the available options. He and his crew were on-time and worked together like a well oiled machine. We had a non-standard roof, but the replacement, including new skylights, only required a day and a half. The shrubs and the area surrounding the house were covered. All debris (including nails) were removed at the end of day one and upon completion. Thanks for a great job!

I had to have my roof replaced. After reviewing and meeting several potential roofers, I chose to go with John whose pricing was fair as well as competitive. I found both he and his wife Christine to be very professional. Christine always returned my calls and answered each and every question no matter how many times it was asked. Once we settled on a day for the roof to be replaced, John arrived at the appointed time, did the job, removed all debris an left my home looking beautiful! We had problem of a leaking roof which appeared to be related to a lack of ventilation. I had approached Shinn about applying engineered roof panels that provided both ventilation as well as additional insulation. Shinn spent a lot of time researching & talking with suppliers about going this route. He & I had many conversations concerning the approach. After all of the work he did, we mutually concluded that going that route was not a good option for my house. Shinn was very open about the options & didn't push this more expensive route. We worked through this together & I appreciate Shinn's work & honesty. He is very knowledgeable about roofing & his desire is to do the right thing for the customer. I truly believe I got the best option with high quality work at a very reasonable cost. His crew came in & did the work in basically 1 long day. The cleanup was great. There was nothing found on the ground; you wouldn't know that roof work had been done. Since the house was not my primary home, John provided a lot of pictures to keep me apprised of the work & the issues he found with the roof. There were issues that needed to be fixed & he didn't just roof over the problems.

On 5 /12 I was contacted by Chris (John Wife) to inform us on 5/14/2015 John was going to start on the both roofs. Everything went well. The work was done quick and every detail was address. John workers were very good and they clean up very nicely. Thank you for everything.

What a great company. We needed a quick turnaround and Shinn Roofing provided it. Extremely professional and their quotes are reasonable for the work. Chris in the office is friendly and professional. She kept in contact throughout the process and answered any questions we had. John and his crew were amazing. They were able to replace all of the rotted wood (36 sheets), do all the other work in a day, and their clean-up was spotless. I would definitely recommend this company. Also, the roof looks fantastic.
