Blakeslee Animal Clinic in Pocono Lake / Blakeslee, PA is a full-service, companion animal clinic located on route 115, 1.9 miles south of Blakeslee corners in Blakeslee. It is our commitment to provide quality veterinary care throughout the life of your pet. Our veterinary services and facilities are designed to assist in routine, preventive care for young, healthy pets; early detection and treatment of disease as your pet ages; and complete medical and veterinary surgical care as necessary during his or her lifetime. We understand the special role your pet plays in your family and are dedicated to becoming your partner in your pet's health care. We treat your pet as we would our own. At Blakeslee Animal Clinic, Our goal is to practice the highest quality medicine and surgery with compassion and an emphasis on client education. Our entire health care team is committed to providing personal attention to the unique concerns of each individual pet owner. The office staff and Dr Church are remarkable. I have had dogs for decades and have never had a vet who was so genuinely passionate about care and quality of service.
Description of Work: Dr Church prescribes my dog's heart worm medication. My dog would not take it in July because I could not mask the taste in food. The office staff helped me order another brand through an online supplier.

Took xray pointed out a heart murmur and prognosis as well as prescribing medication to alleviate symptoms. Other recommendations for my other pooch. Consultation was good. Was seen without a long wait but since there were a few things to look at with both dogs it took a little longer than I expected. Hey everything is a step by step process no matter where you go. I was also late due to a traffic problem.

It went GREAT. He's a great vet and his staff is awesome. Always respectful and friendly. Awesome people!
Description of Work: Dr. Church is awesome. He's kind, understanding, takes his time with patients..He doesn't rip you off like other vets. I was going to a vet who did surgery on my dog.Roc had mast cel cancer. They removed it then she told me he would need chemo. She was a horrible woman. If my dog would have had chemo he would have been dead by now. That was 8 years ago. Another growth came up and Dr. Church did the same surgery for 1/4 of what she charged me and he said mast cel cancer grows outside and no chemo needed. I have had dogs all my life but NEVER had a vet like Dr. Church. God bless him. My Roc is 14 right now and I thank God for Dr. Church.

Staff is friendly and professional. Dr. Church is terrific. It is obvious he loves animals and cares for them as if they were his own. He is patient and takes the time to answer all your questions. Would not take my pets to anyone else!!
Description of Work: Performed initial check-up for my rescue cats. When one got sick he did all that could be done to care for her but was honest in his evaluation of her survival. Treated her...and me...with understanding and compassion. After she passed Dr. Church stored her remains until the ground thawed so we could take her home for burial.

I love going there. Every time I go through the door the people working there remember you and your pet. It's very personal and they care about your pets.

this vet came highly recommended from many sources. However, I was not impressed, at least so far. The care was rushed, a pet history was not asked for, pet was not weighted, vet spent a total of about 7-10 minutes with me. I will give him another chance, simply because of previous recommendations. The care was at best average and rushed. The waiting room was chaotic. Not the level of care I have come to expect. I will give him one "off day" and hope to see what others see next time. I was disappointed in the whole experience.

Response from Blakeslee Animal Clinic
This "client" presented with a chihuahua puppy whose leg they had injured. Radiographs revealed a fractured and displaced leg and a VERY painful 4 month old puppy. The puppy was sedated and a splint placed. The puppy WAS weighed, it weighed 6lbs 2oz, as we needed the weight to caclulate the dose of medication to administer. I would NEVER give medication to any animal without an accurate weight! If the visit seemed brief to the client it was because an animal with a displaced, painful fracture is in need of immediate treatment, not extensive history taking. Additional, the puppy was not brought back for his follow up examination and splint removal. I am assuming that the splint was removed but I have no way of knowing this. I take exceptional pride in my care of my client's pet family members and, unfortunately, I can not be resposible for what happens in a client's home or whether or not clients follow through with recommendations for the care of their pet. It is my sincere hope that the puppy's leg healed nicely and without any problems for the little guy.

Do be on time: his practice is growing fast as more people recommend him to friends. Do: ask questions..he takes time with each client . Do: follow directions as to treatment and medications. Do: call immediately if you even suspect a problem.
Description of Work: Excellent diagnoses and correct treatments, specialty consultation when necessary, gentle handling of pets by Dr. Church and staff, reasonable prices on all services. He is a wonderful, caring professional and an asset to the animal community.
