Shively's Moving & Storage

Our family has had the benefit of Shively's help with moving household goods over the course of many years, and we would not choose to work with another firm. Their employees are diligent, organized and a pleasure to work with. Shively's is the best!

Everything went great. The packers were here and I had a lot to pack. I have a lot of valuables and it went flawless. The move had to wait until accommodations could be made and I was very happy with everything. Kelly is the epitome of the best customer service with communication and being accommodating. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for, and I would pay Shively's again to do it.

We had to have our sump drainage system replaced in our basement, and we needed to have the items removed completely and then brought back after the job was complete. Shively's was great! They arrived on time, were very professional and courteous. Both times they were here, they got the job done very efficiently. They were also careful with the items and packed them in a storage unit outside our home. When the time came to move it all back, they got it done, again, on time and very efficiently. I would hire them again in a heartbeat. Great work!

It went well. Five men and two trucks. Arrived on time. Very professional and careful with our furniture. Moved during Covid pandemic and all were masked throughout move. Felt safe under the conditions. This was the second move with Shively, the first was 27 years ago. The quality in both moves was consistently good. While the crew who moved us were great, hard workers, our job was grossly underestimated. We were told it would take seven hours with one truck. After over 14 hours, we asked them to send someone back the next day to finish putting outer furniture back together. Had the job been estimated properly, they would have sent two trucks and it would have still been over seven hours.

We were very impressed with movers from Shively's. The guys were professional, careful and efficient. I highly recommend them and would definately use them again.

From the start to the finish, thanks to Shively's we had the best move we've ever had. We moved a large household from one part of town to another. They were professional, courteous, friendly, and very careful with our things. For example, they noticed that an antique table was a bit wobbly and applied wood glue before wrapping it, so the table is actually in better shape after than before the move. They were also quite fast and came in under budget. At the new house, they put everything just where I wanted it and were flexible and accommodating about the fact that our builder was still there and there was some equipment to work around. Not too mention three stories and some large items going on the third flood. I would not hesitate to use them again.

We have moved 7 times in the last 9 years. We have used a different mover each time and this is the first time I have been happy with the service from start to finish. I have already recommended Shively's to a friend who is moving soon and would use them again if we have to move.

We've used five different movers over the last 14 years. Shively's was the only one that I'd recommend without hesitation to my friends. They were prompt, helpful, and caused no damage to the contents or the houses involved. They started work at 8 a.m. and continued working until 10 p.m., when they finished moving in and placing the last pieces. The worst part of moving is figuring out where everything should go on the destination end. The crew had helpful suggestions and were patient when we asked them to change where we wanted some major pieces to go The crew for our move had been with the company 8+ years and worked very well as a team. Their estimate for the cost of the move was a bit optimistic, but, given the amount of work they did and the number of items them moved, I was OK with the additional cost. Also, this move was based on actual time on the job and not the number of items moved. The big plus to this approach: they took the time to make sure we were happy with the move. This move was within the same municipality. Shively's specializes in local moves in the Lehigh Valley, PA, area. My decision to go with them resulted from friends who had used Shively over the years and NOT Angie's list. Every one of them was extremely pleased. The biggest beef in the Angie's List write-up was a claim that Shively's was NOT insured. THIS IS NOT TRUE. Shively's provided a coverage certificate from one of the most respected insurance agencies in our area in advance of the actual move. We didn't have to ask for it. Bottom line: A big thumbs up for Shively's Moving & Storage.

It went beautifully. They showed up on time and were fast and efficient. They even provided an extra mover for no extra cost. They didnt break anything and were especially careful because of the weather/snow. Shively's Moving was professional all the way through.

Pretty well, they arrived on time; reviewed what we would like done and did it. Pretty quickly. I wasn't planning on bringing the pictures initially so when we asked them if we could move them we weren't sure if it would be ok. It was. They took it all in stride.

The crew of 5 men arrived exactly at their promised time 0800. Since they had packed out belongings the Saturday before, they went right to work removing our furniture and boxes and carefully placing and packing the items in their moving vans. The entire house was packed in a relatively short amount of time. The crew immediately left for our new home. They did not stop for lunch and had all our boxes and furniture in place by 7:00 PM that evening. They even hooked up some of our electronics and assembled the beds. We did not have to replace the furniture, they put it exactly where we wanted it. The crew was polite, professional and did not waste time standing around, they always had their hands on items carrying something. This company is excellent, and I used them way back in 1970, and a couple of times in between, they only get better. I had one other bid which was 3 TIMES more that Shively. Obviously the other company was not interested in the project. Shively took care of our dozens of paintings and prints, our china, flat screen TV's and other sensitive items. NOT ONE THING WAS DAMAGED!!! Don't waste your time with the "big names", go with the reliable name: Shively

We hired Shively's to move us from a rental house to our new home. They came out and gave us a quote, and seemed courteous and honest. The day of the move, they arrived a few minutes early; three men, as discussed. After a little direction, they got to work. They were really polite, and thoughtful of the fact that I had a one year old baby to mind. They took apart several furniture items and reassembled at our new place, with no problems. We haven't found a single item damaged or broken, which is pretty amazing to me - doesn't something always get broken? Although they had difficulty with a few items, there were no scrapes or dings in the walls or furniture at either place. They were extremely careful to protect our hardwood floors. It did take them quite a bit longer than we were quoted, but I don't blame them at all. It was pouring rain, and as mentioned, there were a few difficulties. Overall, they were great to work with. I'd definitely recommend them!

They began with a prompt arrival at my office. Office furniture was moved out and loaded on to truck. Drove to my house where we were taking the office furniture to create a new home office. This was a complicated move, since it required furniture going from the basement to the 2nd floor, the 2nd floor to the basement, and from the truck to the basement. Several pieces needed to be dismantled in order to be moved. Everything was done promptly, cheerfully and professionally. Not a single nick, dent or scratch. The two men paid attention to detail and showed honest concern and respect for our home and our belongings. Both men were pleasant and courteous. I would not hesitate to use them again.

Shiveley's was great. I called them in a panic when another moving company who promised to pack and move us cancelled two days before our pack/move date. Shiveley's was awesome. They told me they could pack me on Sunday (in 2 days) and move me on that Tuesday. They were very apologetic that they had no time to send anyone out to give me an estimate and also that they had to pack one day and move on another, which didn't bother me; after all they were doing me a favor at the last minute so I wasn't about to complain. The packers arrived on time (a few minutes early) and packed almost everything on Sunday by 2 pm but had to stop then because they ran out of packing materials. They asked if I would mind if they came early on Tuesday and pack the last hour or so our stuff. I said fine with me and again they came on time and packed/loaded everything carefully and efficiently on Tuesday. At out new farm house they did an incredible job unloading under some difficult circumstances: It poured rain all day and night, it was extremely cold and very windy. Our headboard didn't fit up our curved staircase so they had to take it apart and reassemble it. They worked a long day without a lunch break and basically had a trying day all around. All of our belongings made it to our new house without any breakage or scratches. They were very careful even though they had a long, hungry, wet, cold day. It took them until about 10:30 PM to unload everything and the entire time all the men had smiles on their faces and were happy and joking around with us. I LOVE Shiveley's, that i why I always call them when I have to move. I don't know why I ever called the "other" movers this time since they stood us up and in the end Shiveley's cost was less than the other guys quote and their service was top notch as always.

What a great group of guys. I called Shively's last minute when another local company failed to follow through. Thanks again to Diane for her help in scheduling my appointment!! The guys were incredibly punctual and professional. They knew what to move and when and did it with what I assumed was great ease. They took care with all of my belongings, taking extra care around the oddly positioned staircase to the main floor of the former house. It took all of 5 hours, even in the pouring, driving rain. I would absolutely recommend these guys again.

Movers showed up on time (even a bit early) so they could start at 8am on the dot. Hard workers, polite, eager to please. Took a shorter time than estimated (which was good for us) because we had moved some of the bigger stuff the day before. Would definitely recommend!

Despite some unforeseen challenges Shively went out of their way to fully satisfy us. We highly recommend this honest vendor.

tI had used Shivelys at least 5 times in the past 25 years and found them to be honest and reliable. They were always my mover of choice and I recommended them dozens of times to friends and business associates. I used Shivelys on June 2012 for the last time. One of their movers BLATANTLY LIED to me and then charged me for time that they did not work. I was charged for time while they sat in the truck talking when they arrived, for lunch while they sat and talked, for time when they sat for a full hour in the driveway before leaving for the storage unit(they thought no one was there or watching) AND they charged me for working UNTIL 3 PM while asking me to sign and pay them in full at 240 PM. It is a very long story......but I never use the word LIE if there is any chance it was a miscommunication or misunderstanding. I was very angry with these two and the LIES. I was very clear about my disappointment. I paid the entire bill on the spot after telling them why I should be paying at least $115.00 less. I made my point clearly and concisely with the movers and expressed my frustration. I left a message for Diane, the contact person at Shively, I never heard back from her. No excuse for this lack of honesty and professionalism.......or follow up.

Excellent overall experience! Shively's is a local Moving Company for my area. The 3 men arrived promptly at 8:00 AM start time. They evaluated the situation, went over the game plan with us and started to move right away. They asked questions, used caution when needed, assisted in anything we needed done. The whole house and the storage drop off move was completed by 2:00 PM!!! I had, had a previous horrible moving scam with another moving company, 4 yrs ago, so I was very concerned about this not happening again. I cannot say enough good things about Shively's Moving and Storage. They were and are so trustworthy, honest, courteous, respectful, and timely. I could go on and on. I would call them again in a heartbeat and will recommend them always!

The two men (Mike and Mike) were on time, very helpful and professional. They also moved the old furniture, that was being replaced, to the garage for storage. EXCELLENT !!!
