Here's what happened to me regarding Hecktown Glass: I've been in several times. When you visit their shop/showroom, they're courteous, professional and knowledgable. I bought several pieces of cut glass from them, and, though it was a bit pricey, they were great to deal with and I had absolutely no problem with this transaction. But last summer (2011) I asked them about a project I wanted done (glass panels and wood railings) for a stairway. They said they could do it and would have someone come out to look at the space and give an estimate. Once again, in the shop, they were knowledgeable, helpful and professional. Someone came out and took measurements and said they would call us with an estimate once they priced out the materials with their suppliers, and that's when this job went into a black hole. I called them four times over the course of two months and was told 1) "somene will get back to you", 2) "someone will get back to you", 3) "the supplier was supposed to give us prices but hasn't", 4) "the supplier still hasn't given us prices, my boss is on the phone yelling at the supplier right now and will call you back" (I'm still waiting for that phone call by the way). Ultimately it was really hard finding someone to do this job, which I'm sure was too small to interest most experienced contractors, and that's the only reason I tried them back after the first two times. But I offered them the opportunity to back out the job several times by saying "Look, if this job is too small for you, no problem, I don't want to waste your time" and was repeatedly told, "No, we can do this." So this last experience left a bad taste in my mouth because of the ducking and lying. If a job is too small, tell me, especially when I give you the chance. I wouldn't have hesitated to use them in the future if they'd been honest with me up front but I can't see that happening now.
Description of Work: Bought glass there on one occasion, and attempted to use them on a home remodelling project. See story below - - the grading system Angie's List give you to rate businesses (above) is pretty inadequate when you have several experiences with one business that have varied.
