Description of Work: We had Dugan's service our aging York Heat Pump and they provided an estimate to replace the unit. The service on the heat pump was thorough and in that service it was discovered that our system was leaking freon. They had originally installed the unit, some years ago. We have received many compliments on the quality of the original installation from contractors who have worked in our attic. Given the age of the system and inability to use the new freon, replacement was needed. Dugan's spec'd us a new Amana Heat Pump. Ultimately, we went with a different contractor and used a different brand of heat pump, but I really thought their service was outstanding and they have very fair prices.

Description of Work: Typical, on the coldest day of the season so far, I came home with my heat pump sounding like a lawn mower. I called Dugan's, and got advice on using my emergency heat setting for the night. The next day the service person came on time, he assessed the pump, and performed an annual heat pump service. It was fixed!!! (pump was unbalance due to ice and caused the pump to be off balance). I would use the company again.

Description of Work: Removal of old HVAC unit. Installation of new unit. Changed the duct work for quieter air flow into a bedroom. Added a air vent in a storage room. Replaced old thermostats with newer digital ones that can be set for temp and time of day.

+ -1 moreI get rebates from an electric company for installing it because they are energy efficient systems. I will probably get a tax credit on my income tax too, I am not sure though. My experience with Jim Dugan Heat Pump & Air Conditioning, Inc was excellent. Their price was competitive. I got six different quotes from six different companies. They seemed the most knowledgeable. Their representative came to my house to look it over, to measure it all up, to look at the size of the air conditioning, heating and so forth. They kept to the facts. They were the first ones to come back with an official quote for me compared to the other five. I even had them come the second time to modify things after I changed my mind. They gave me excellent service. As far the price is concerned, Jim Dugan wasn’t the lowest. He came in the second lowest. Out of the six, he was number two. His bid wasn’t high but it wasn’t the bottom bid either. I was comfortable with his service and the information of what he was going to do. Therefore, I just didn’t take the lowest bid, I took the second lowest bid, and I am glad I did. The quality of the work done was excellent. I would recommend them to anybody else immediately.

+ -1 moreThe project went very well and I am pleased with the outcome. There were a few difficulties that were encountered during the installation (which is expected), and they were handled properly. They also took the time to do a few "extra" things, which I was not necessarily expecting. Underneath the old concrete basepad, was an even older concrete basepad. They helped me remove both of them, and move them to a different part of my yard where I could reuse them. I was interested in the details of how the unit operates, specifically how/when it transitions from 1st stage to 2nd stage. Jim's son (one of the installers) took the time to show me the transition of the compressor unit with a clamp-on ammeter. The existing ductwork had an old Aprilaire bypass humidifier which they preserved. They wired it to the new furnace, and plumbed it into the new condensate pump.
Description of Work: We had our gas furnace and central air conditioner replaced. The air conditioner had stopped making cold (leak in the coil), and the furnace was a beast (original unit from 1971). They were replaced with top-of-the-line high-efficiency Amana units - 95.8% for the furnace, and 16 SEER for the air conditioner. Our existing ductwork was adapted to the new inside unit. A PVC pipe was installed for venting of the furnace, and a new condensate pump was installed. A new line set was run to the outside unit, and a new basepad was provided. Also, a new Honeywell thermostat was installed.

Description of Work: Dugan Heat Pump & A/C, Inc is a family-run business for year-round service. I have used Dugan's for over 20 years and have never had a complaint or a non-response to my inquiries. They provide semi-annualy reminders to service my two heat pumps and have also made calls in the dead of winter when one of the heat pumps would not function properly. The father/owner is teaching his son to eventually take over the business and his wife is involved in the office administration of the business. I have two YORK Heat pumps and through the efforts of Jim Dugan and staff they lasted far longer than expected and have recently been replaced at a fair price and prompt service. I wholeheartedly recommend DUGAN'S A/C services to anyone. I'm sure you will not be disappointed.

+ -1 moreI was delighted to have cool air again in hot July. Of 3 AC companies I called and paid for service calls, Mr. Dugan was the only one who recognized what the problem was and fixed it. My AC has worked fine ever since. I would definitely call Mr. Dugan again should the need for heating and AC service arise.
Description of Work: When my central air conditioning would not cool, I called two other companies, both of which did not fix the problem. One technician from one of the most reputable AC companies in the Lehigh Valley charged a whopping bill but did not fix the problem. I then called Mr. Dugan, who came out and immediately determined what the problem was and fixed it, which was a clogged drain pan in the attic unit. When the pan filled with condensation water, the upstairs unit cut off as a safety feature although the outside unit would run and run without cooling. This repair necessitated someone willing to go to the trouble to check both parts of the system, one of which was in the attic, which Mr. Dugan realized.
