Carlina and David are hard-working, diligent, caring people who love what they do and it shows in the quality of their work and timeliness of completion, in time for me to move into my house the very next day. I couldn't have asked for more, they really go out of their way to make you happy, amazing people, I can't say enough about them.

I was looking to install hardwood floors in my 100 year old house, which I knew would be a challenge since everything we do in the house is a challenge! I called 3 companies for quotes and Calm Construction was right in the middle. When Dave & Carolina came to provide the estimate they walked me through the process in great detail and answered all my questions. I could tell that they really love what they do, and have a real passion for old homes. The hallway was exceptionally challenging since there were stairs with several balusters to work around. Dave came back and actually created a custom template for this section and then built a custom bullnose that matched the wood I chose beautifully. I am really blown away by the level of detail and quality of the workmanship, and I'm thrilled with the final result! If you want high quality at an affordable price, this is your dynamic duo!

I would definitely recommend this company for any work. After having hardwood floors installed by another company in the bottom portion of my home and being totally disappointed with the work, i decided to hire another company to do the upper floors of my home. A friend had recommended calm and carry on construction. I'm glad i called them. Dave came to my home and gave me an estimate and explained the work he was gonna do and i immediately felt comfortable with him. All the work was done in 2 days which included ripping up laminate floors in two rooms, installing moulding and installing hardwood floors. The work was flawless and Dave is an amazing contractor. I will be using this company for any type of work i need in my home for now on.

We met Dave Freitag, the owner of Calm and Carry On, after we purchased a new hardwood floor for our Park Slope Brownstone kitchen and needed someone to install it. Dave came to the house to do the measurements and gave us an estimate on installation. We had a previous estimate done by another contractor, which seemed to us excessive. Dave's estimate was significantly lower and he struck us as very capable and honest. He did a fabulous job on installing the floor and, when done, it looked great. We immediately hired him to install a tile backsplash in our kitchen and to repair a ceiling moulding in our dining room that had been damaged by a leak. Again, he did a fabulous job on the backsplash which looks terrific. The moulding on the ceiling turned out to be a very complicated job because it was not wood as we had thought, but rather injected plaster (which apparently was common a hundred years ago when our brownstone was built). Nonetheless, Dave spent nearly 8 hours piecing together and shaping several different pieces of wood moulding so that he could match the intricate shaping of our ceiling moulding. He clearly had not factored that into his estimate of the cost, yet he insisted on sticking to his estimated cost nonetheless, saying that he enjoyed the challenge. In the end, I insisted on compensating him for his time, but you don't often come across a highly skilled tradesman who goes to such lengths without expecting to boost the price. It was really a pleasure to meet Dave who is clearly such a profoundly decent guy, but also someone with real skill and a lot of pride in his work. I recommend him highly.
