Amato Roofing

Project completed 6/1/2023 by Amato Roofing. Joe Amato and his crew did and excellent job of tearing off my old asphalt shingle roofs on my home and detached garage and installing a GAF Timberline HDZ shingle roof system on both. I had met several roofing contractors for quotes and Amato Roofing was very reasonable and affordably priced in comparison to the other contractors for the same exact products and workmanship. When you call you will be speaking directly to Joe himself. This I liked. There is no secretary answering the phone and relaying messages back and forth. There was no time wasted. He came to my home himself in a day or two to look at the roofs and I had a formal estimate describing all the proposed work in detail by e-mail in a day. Joe right from the start gave me piece of mind because he is a communicator and has a likeable personality. I did not have to wait for replies. He went out of his way to answer all my questions and concerns promptly. I'll admit I am a very particular person and I did not stress when the work was being done. Also reassuring is the fact that Joe has many years experience doing the work himself and had learned it along side his father who started the company 40 years ago. Early this Spring Joe had told me I was on his schedule for the work to begin end of May. He notified me a few days in advance of the exact start day and he, his crew, and equipment arrived that day. He also had it arranged that the building supply company delivered all the shingles and related supplies to my home that morning at 8 am. The crew is his, same guys everyday. Not guys that move around from contractor to contractor. They did an excellent job of protecting all my plant beds in front of my home with tarps that attached to the gutter area and sloped to the ground. No heavy vehicles or dumpsters were ever on my sidewalks or lawns. Clean up was great. Not a piece of shingle to be had anywhere on the lawn when completed. They also roll the street and yard with a magnet to pick up any remaining nails after the tear off and at the end of the workday. Blew off all the sidewalks and porches. Joe remained onsite the entire time supervising and also up on the roof at times helping his men. The estimate process and payment process went without any issues. My new roofs look awesome and perform as expected (it has rained heavily since completion and no issues) and I am very pleased with the products and workmanship. I would highly recommend Joe Amato of Amato Roofing to family and friends or anyone out there needing roofing work. Amato's staff were everything we wanted in a roofing job. They were punctual, efficient, thorough, and courteous. They did an excellent job and we would highly recommend them.

We had two contractors come out to find a leak. Amato said the roof was not pitched enough for shingles and should be rubber. We really didn't want rubber because it would not match the rest of the house. We decided to get a second opinion and estimate. The second contractor said it did not have to be rubber and said he would provide an estimate for shingles. We received two estimates for the same price. We went with Amato because he was available sooner, assured us that a rubber roof would fix the leak and we liked him as a person. He completed the work quickly, but with substandard quality. To date we still have a leak. We have asked him repeatedly to fix the leak, for which we hired him. However, he fails to return phone calls in a timely manner, if at all. We were told on numerous occasions that he would be over between certain hours to take a look and he was a no show. We made ourselves available only to be stood up on 3 occasions. In frustration, we asked that if he himself could not make it out on the date arranged to please send a representative (in this case his son). He provided his sons number, but asked that we don't call him because he was busy with another job. The two times Vince did show he threw caulk at the problem and even placed nails through the capping between the two homes in attempt to add additional capping. I'm not a contractor, but caulk and capping over capping are band aids and not an attempt to get to the root of the problem. During a discussion about the how to fix the leak and address increased ice damming caused as a result of a rubber roof (potential problem, we've learned the hard way, of a rubber roof that was not mentioned prior to installation) VInce said "well I always thought the leak was coming from the neighbors side." Thanks for telling us after you replaced a section of our roof. The ice damming even tore off the caulking he placed. Our contract has a 5 year workmanship warranty, which in this case means nothing when the contractor has poor workmanship, is unresponsive and has not made a good faith effort to resolve the problem. His advertisement states "the leak stops here." To date we still have a leak and an unresponsive contractor. I believe in my heart Amato is a very nice guy. Unfortunately he provides substandard workmanship, has zero intent on taking the time to actually find and fix a problem once paid. Simply telling a costumer he/she is unable to do the job (find/fix a leak) and recommend another contractor or root would have made this experience easier to digest.

Vince gave me a quote very shortly after I called him and his price Was very reasonable. Him and his crew showed up every time they said that they Would and cleaned up nicely. They finished on time even with a small rain delay. This companies trailers and tools were nice and respectful looking and they seemed to Take pride in staying on budget and doing what they said they would. I will most likely have them to do some more work on my property.

Excellent job. Crew was prompt, professional, focused on doing a great job. On site supervision by owner was evident throughout the job. Left job site neat and clean each day. We are very pleased.
