They were a groupon. I thought they were pretty expensive. It was not clear. The groupon we bought, we thought was going to take care of everything and it was $800 later. The groupon was $49 and we paid an additional $800. They did not put back some of the heating grates. They were just resting there. There were some like hand prints on the wall when they were done. They could have cleaned up a little bit after themselves. I would tell a friend or family member to just be clear on the cost first.

I bought a $49 Groupon deal. Having had my ducts cleaned years ago, I knew full well that it was going to cost a few hundred bucks despite the coupon. I called to schedule in mid-October, and was told the next available appointment was mid-December. I took off work that day, and even called to confirm the appointment time. I was given a 2 hour window, and after no one showed up an hour and a half past the end of the window nor called to say they were running late, I called them. I was given no apology nor any indication of when they would be showing up. So I wasted an entire day sitting around. They told me I could reschedule - and the next appointment day would be mid-February. It kind of defeats the whole purpose of having your vents cleaned near the end of winter after you wanted them cleaned before the furnace started running for the season and blowing all the bad air around. I guess this was lost on this company. The good news is when I contacted Groupon about this, I fully expected them to say too bad. They issued me a refund. Which makes me believe plenty of people have had an issue with this company. I can't speak to the quality of their work, and I normally don't write bad reviews. But I expect a level of professionalism that was clearly lacking here. And when you waste my time, I don't care to give you my business. And this kind of stuff is precisely why we need Angies List. Thanks, Angie.

My story is very similar to other reviewers who stated that they thought "whole house" air duct cleaning meant cleaning out all the air passages throughout the house. Within minutes of the guys arriving, I learned that to get all passages (including the main feed into the furnace) cleaned and sanitized it was going to cost me an additional $234. I declined. One of the workers apologized for the confusion and said he had suggested that the company re-word the coupon, because it was common for customers to complain to him that they didn't understand the limited service they were buying. I don't really know if the cleaning they performed will provide any benefit to the air quality in my house, but it couldn't hurt. For $60, I'm a little wiser and more certain that I should be checking Angie's List before buying any more Groupons or LivingSocial coupons :)

The workers arrived without the promised 15 minute warning call. They were polite but talked a-mile-a-minute selling services above the value of my pre-purchased coupon. I felt that the job would be ineffective without purchasing the add-ons, so I went along. No effort was made to demonstrate effectiveness of the service; no before and after views, no visible debris removed; no confidence builder. It was clear more than once that the workers had not fully-assessed their ability to reach all ductwork. The crowning glory was finding every vent cover replaced in a closed position, resulting in one very cold house!

Extremely poor service. Do NOT use them. I bought a special for $149. Three young men came, completely unprofessional, with their jeans hanging down below you know where. No company ID on their jackets or shirts. The 'head' technician immediately asked if he could borrow a pen to write up the order. They basically were trying to sell me more service. For $149 they stuck what is essentially a large vacuum cleaner hose down the vents and vacuumed out whatever the hose may have encountered. That is all. There are greasy handprints on my newly painted walls where they leaned while removing the vent covers. It would have cost another $200 to have them clean the area around the furnace, which I have learned is actually the point of it all. They also tried to sell me a 'sanitizing solution' for the duct work, and when I asked exactly what it is (I am a pharmacist as so could determine if it was worthwhile), the tech just kept repeating the brand name, oblivious to what I was asking. At that point I just wanted them to get out of my house as quickly as possible. When they drove their van into my driveway they missed the corner and dug a trench about 8" deep and 2 feet long, dragging the mud in a 10 foot streak down my driveway. I asked them to clean it up. They asked for something to clean it with, which I did not have, as I had just moved in and those items were packed away somewhere. They drove away without any attempt to clean it up. I have emailed the company with photos of the trench around my driveway, but no response. This is the closest to a scam as I have had the misfortune to encounter.

We bought a Living Social coupon with these guys for 'whole house air duct cleaning'. What they didn't mention was that this only covered vacuuming through the air vents. It was a hook to get us to buy the main duct cleaning at full price. They did not mention in the deal that this service through the coupon won't make much difference if the main duct was not cleaned. However, once they arrived to provide the service they pulled out a list of these other services, that were full priced and were required for proper cleanliness of the ducts. The technician was rude, and when we declined to buy any additional service he commented that his boss would be p***** that we only got the service through coupon. He removed all the vent covers and left without putting a couple of them back. Same for some furniture that he had to move.

I called in mid-October to schedule the duct cleaning giving the dispatcher my Living Social coupon number when I called. The first possible date he could give me was November 2 at 1 pm. This was beyond the expiration date of the Living Social coupon, but that was okay. I was working out of town on November 2 but made sure that someone was working at the house on that date. Tim sent me a text at at 4 pm asking me to call Ventilation Purification. He had been holding off going to Hone Depot and could wait no longer. I called Ventilation Purification to find our what had happened to the crew. The dispatcher had to call me back. He said that the crew that was to have shown up at 1 pm had run into a job earlier that had two furnaces and much more work than they had scheduled. The dispatcher asked me if I could have the carpenter stay there until 5:30. I told him that paying the carpenter to stay late for a crew that should have shown up earlier and didn't give me the courtesy of calling to let us know was not a very good idea. The date was rescheduled and the crew showed up to do nothing. Ducts weren''t cleaned; the areas just inside the vents were still covered with dust.
Description of Work: The Living Social coupon read: Whole-house air duct cleaning. Unlimited vents, unlimited returns, and main duct; surcharge may apply for additional main lines, or furnace and blower motor cleaning/cleaning sanitizing. All services must be redeemed during a single visit and used by same household. Valid for estimate on systems that require additional services. Two people showed up, walked around the house and told the carpenter working at my house that they would need to speak to me to give me an estimate of the work for the work that would need to be done. There was no mistake that there dispatcher wasn't aware of the Living Social coupon.

I called about two weeks in advance and made an appointment to get the services performed. The company called me the morning of to tell me the guys were on their way and they arrived within the window of time I had originally been given (8:00am-11:00am). I had a living social deal the company honored to clean my main duct and all of the vents. Once the guys (Matt and Jason) arrived, Matt went through my entire system with me and explained how everything worked. Then he opened up my furnace to see if it needed to be cleaned. I doubt my system has ever been cleaned, and sure enough there was dirt covering everything. He reached back to check the motor and wiped off a gross ball of dirt and grime from the motor. He explained to me how this amount of dirt and grime is effecting the amount of air getting through my system as well as my heating/cooling costs. Matt wrote down an itemized list of everything that could be done and then numbered them for what he felt was most to least important. I have very bad allergies and have been concerned about the quality of air in my home. I also have two big dogs that add to the dust/dirt. I definitely did not feel pressured to purchase anything beyond the living social deal but went ahead and purchased a substantial amount of services for my air system. This was a big decision for me because of the amount of money, but I have been concerned about my air quality and have noticed an increase in allergy problems since moving in to my house two years ago. The guys worked quickly and efficiently. While Matt was talking me through the system and what could be done, Jason immediately started removing the vent covers and putting together the hose. I felt the guys were focused and professional while they worked, and I appreciated the amount of time Matt took to answer my questions and explain the system multiple times when I asked about additional cleaning services. They were very careful when moving my furniture and even had me cover some clothes and things in the basement that could get dust on them during the cleaning.
Description of Work: The living social deal included cleaning of unlimited vents and returns and the main trunk line I payed additional to have the additional main trunk line cleaned, supply trunk line cleaned, my blower motor cleaned, cut-ins needed to be done to gain access to the trunk lines (because they had never been cleaned before so there was no access point for the hoses), the furnace was cleaned, and then I had my system sanitized to eliminate bacteria, mites, and pet dander, and also had a polymer sealant used to capture the soot in my system (huge issue in my house living in Pittsburgh).

The crew showed up over 1.5 hours late. They were dressed shabbily. Their vehicle was old and dented. Their duct cleaning equipment did not appear to be connected to a powerful enough vacuum. We called this company because of a "coupon" deal stating that if we bought the coupon we could receive whole house duct cleaning for $xx.xx. So we bought the coupon and scheduled an appointment. My wife called me at work to tell me that the tech from Ventilation Purification was telling her that the mains and the "compacted" furnace were not covered by the prepaid purchase and that it would cost her an additional $500 to clean our 3 bedroom, 2,000 sq.ft. home. I came home and had them define the jargon on the cleaning coupon to determine what was (not much) and wasn't covered in the coupon "deal". I deleted what I thought were unnecessary services from what they proposed to my wife and had the additional charge reduced to $295. I chalked the experience with Ventilation Purification off to being had by a bait & switch scam but I thought at least my wife would have less dusting with clean ducts. I left them to do their work and returned to my place of employment. When I returned that night and inspected their work I found that extra screws remained on the floor in front on the furnace and found that they had reassembled the furnace without using them. Dirt and grime were present at each of the main floor registers from where they didn't clean the area after they removed their extraction hose or brushes. And the access holes that they were going to cut into the mains to facilitate cleaning where never made even though we were charged for this labor. Apparently they used the registers in the basement ductwork for access (at least hopefully they did.) Finally we have noticed that after spending over $300 between the coupon cost and the additional charges, the dusting after this cleaning is not substantially different than before.

I signed up with a coupon for a basic $69 service knowing that more work would be needed and extra charges added. I expected an outrageous amount and a high pressure sales tactics to add in those additional services. I was very pleasantly surprised to not only get a reasonable estimate but they made no attempt to talk me into anything I didn't need. They explained each option, told me what they could do, and how much it would cost. I could pick and choose any or none of the extra services or just have them do the initial work included in my $69 coupon. With a dog & 2 cats, I choose to go with most of the options.Mark & Zach were my 2 technicians and did a great job thoroughly cleaning out my entire duct system. They were real nice guys and seemed to know their jobs well and wanted to do a nice job for you. We couldn't be more pleased with their efforts and the overall work they did. I feel a lot better having my grandsons over knowing that they will be breathing in good quality air.We think they did a great job and would highly recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: Whole house ventilation cleaning and sanitizing. They took off all of our vents and cleaned them with a high powered truck mounted vacuum and then cleaned all of the duct work and returns. They also cleaned an extremely dirty furnace blower motor and finished up by sanitizing the entire system.

We were pleased over all with their service. This company had been recommended to us by some friends who were extremely pleased. We probably would not have chosen then except by this recommendation. They were prompt and called 20 minutes prior to coming to our house. They were very courteous and professional as they went about their work in the house. Prior to their visit we have been given a coupon for $36.00 from our friends for this company and the lead ?technician? explained what they would like to do and how much it would cost based on our duct configuration minus our coupon. What impressed me the most was that after the inspection of my heating and cooling system, they did not try to sell me a new filter or that the plant was dirty. To the contrary, they said, they could not find anything wrong. They also discovered that the ceiling events were held up by screws that went into the dry wall rather than wood and recommended that they used compressed air to clean those vents, which I agreed to let them do. Over all this was a good experience and met my expectations. The only negative thing is that they did leave a film of dust on the floors which meant we would have to clean floors and dust.
Description of Work: This company cleaned all vents including air return vents Completely brushed out all ducts and vents Vacuumed all vents and ducts with a powerful on truck system Inspected the heating and air conditioning plant Sanitized the whole system by sending a midst through the system

I made an appointment after finding a coupon in the Clipper Magazine for a "whole house special" for $39.99, which included unlimited vents and returns (we had 14) and one main duct, as well as free sanitizing. I hoped this would help with allergies in our new home. The two guys who came were very courteous and friendly, and explained my system in detail to me and what they would be doing. They were very knowledgeable. Of course the coupon did not cover the entire system. Additional main trunk lines (we had two more) and cleaning/inspection of the blower motor was extra. A cut-in was required to be able to access one of the main lines, and that was also a small extra charge. When he gave me the estimate, I was quite shocked - I've never had this kind of service before and I did not know it would be so expensive. The original price he quoted me was $339. The service guy called his boss and they agreed to give me a "First Time Customer Discount" - my total out the door cost would be $295. I had researched some of their competition's vent cleaning service before they came and this was cheaper, so I agreed, but I was really hoping to only pay $40 that day. Our system was really FILTHY! I honestly don't think it has ever been cleaned. They took about 2 hours to do everything and they put my house back together when they were done. When they turned my system back on, the vents seemed to be flowing much better and the house heated up much quicker than usual - the system seemed to be much more efficient. It also smelled much cleaner and less musty. I was surprised by the cost of this type of service, but overall I am happy with the outcome. I would recommend Ventilation Purification to others.
Description of Work: Cleaned all air vents and returns, main ducts, and blower motor. They made one cut-in to the main duct to access it for cleaning and then sealed it afterward. They also inspected the motor and sanitized the system.

Three guys came and they seemed to be college age drinking buddies. They used a shop vac to clean the vents. They asked to use the bathroom 2 times to 3 times each and were done after an hour. I looked online and it said it should take 3 to 4 hours. On a fluke I checked the bathroom because they were in it so much and my Vikadin bottle that I had from an operation in my bathroom was empty, I can't prove they did it but I have my suspicions. I had another company come in and they ran a camera through the vents and it wasn't clean at all. The service wasn't done at all. I called the owner and he apologized profusely and gave me a refund. He said he fired the workers immediately also.
