All went as promised - from the original estimate of goods to be moved and pricing, to the actual move and timing. We needed to move the date as our new home wasn't ready as originally scheduled. South Hills Movers worked with us to find an alternative date - much appreciated!

Great Job, Great Crew, Rodger, Chris and Evan did a great job. Nice guys, very professional, everything we've unpacked is in good condition, I highly recommend them. HOWEVER, they used a third party called RMS to move our delicate and expensive clocks and this company did a terrible job. They added charges after they got to our house to pack....which I understand might have been because the clocks were more intricate than they expected, but they did some pretty significant damage to a Grandfather clock. They have done very little to follow up and correct the situation. This clock is over 100 years old, hand carved. The damage might be beyond repair. Really poor job with this clock. But South Hill is great, I highly recommend them but watch our for RMS if you have nice clocks you need to have moved. South Hills moved our baby grand piano....no issues so far.

Smoothly. Kelly called every day to make sure the loading and delivery of furniture went well. Communication with the company was excellent! They were so responsive and easy to work with. We had some complications with our destination, and they adjusted so easily. I would hire them again in a heartbeat!

This was the second time that we used South Hills Movers. We were very pleased with the whole process. They were very easy to work with, explained things well, were timely, and followed through. I would highly recommend them.

If there were ZERO STARs that is what I would select but an F is close enough. Not because SHM did my move, but because after planning the move with them for 6 weeks, they called me the day before I was leaving Pittsburgh to tell me they could not accommodate my move. Further, they had a total technology shutdown where they couldn't remember my appointments, move dates, wouldn't return my phone calls, and even confused my sister's move with mine. About 2 months ago I started planning a move from Pittsburgh west. I was coordinating with Kelley and then Tom Gennis, who seemed like a reasonable person. Kelley coordinated dates, logistics, insurance, etc with me. Tom came out and inventoried my items, gave me a quote which I accepted, and we planned the move. But then the day before I left Pittsburgh Kelley called me to say that 'none of my move dates would work.' I had SIX WEEKS of potential move dates, ie a lot of flexibility. When I asked her why this sudden turnaround she said 'we just don't have any trucks going west.' She then said I should speak with the manager Joe, who got on the phone to simply say 'we cannot move you.' Again, I asked why, after meticulously planning this move with SHM for the last 6 weeks, they would all of a sudden cancel he said they had done nothing wrong as they hadn't taken any of my money. It sounds like a $5k move was not worth their trouble. Further, a couple weeks before their technology went down, rendering them unable to remember or keep any appointments. After I called back 3 times I was finally able to secure the walk through with Tom. I understand that technology systems sometimes go down, so at that point I was willing to hang in there. I guess I should have seen the warnings then that they were overloaded and not professional enough to commit. My sister did and was smart enough to find another mover. Being in a services business I was shocked at their unethical behavior. I was told they have enough business with CMU and the health care systems that they just don't care anymore. I really hope this review SAVES YOU the pain of using SHM. Too bad after experiencing this I checked reviews on YELP. Should have done that before!

Efficiently done. Courteous staff. No damage to anything. Significantly under budget. What more could one ask for?

We used South Hills Movers in October 2015 to move my in-laws from their home to a retirement community. When they needed to move again just 6 months later, we didn't even bother to get other quotes, we just called South Hills. We had the same estimator, Dave, so he was able to use the information from the first move as a starting point. Dave went through everything in the apartment and made sure he had a good understanding of what needed to be moved to each location. This second move was unplanned and needed to happen as soon as possible. He was able to fit us into his schedule for the estimate and also to get us scheduled for our desired move day, which was only 4 days away. When the team, led by Aaron, arrived right on time, we discovered that the elevator that had been identified for our move was out of service. So we ended up having to share the only remaining elevator with the residents of the building. This significantly slowed down the team. But the didn't complain and worked quickly and efficiently to make the best of things. They had everything queued up at the elevator so they were ready when it was available. Unloading at the various locations was quick and easy. Everything was delivered to the correct location and they placed everything exactly where we wanted it. Even after losing time with the elevator issue, they still finished up a little early and the total cost came in a little under the estimate. We will definitely use South Hills next time anyone in the family needs to move.

I'm a little late in writing this review. The estimator was prompt, friendly and courteous. The final cost turned to be $500 less than the estimate. The movers were prompt and very careful and arrived promptly at the destination. Everything arrived in excellent condition except for one white spot on a mahogany table which must have come from rubbing against a piece of white furniture, but it came off with a few repeated applications of furniture polish. I've moved a number of times, and all said, this was the smoothest move ever.

South Hills movers packed and moved us out and in on the dates I selected. The team did an excellent job of packing, ensuring that I was aware of some of the items which were not in perfect condition, and ensuring that boxes were labelled for the new location rooms, rather than the old location. Contents descriptions were also good. Of items unpacked so far, there has been no breakage or damage. My only irritation was that papers I had sorted in small boxes were put together in a larger moving box; I wish I had asked that each bundle be wrapped in paper separately to keep the topics distinct. (This was a problem in prior moves as well) Delivery was on time, and the South Hills Movers helped strategize where to put the boxes in the new downsized places. Unloading took less time than they had allowed, but that was efficient, not rushed. Overall, I highly recommend their services.

We recently contacted South Hills Movers for an estimate for a small move. We were looking to hire them to move only our large pieces of furniture from a small 2BR apartment to a house less than 4 miles away. I was told I needed to have a sales rep. come see our home before we could get a quote. After waiting for the sales rep to call for more than a full day, we contacted SHM again to see what was going on. When the sales rep finally called, he informed us he didn't have time to come look at our home soon. He gave us an informal estimate based on hourly rates over the phone. We had gotten estimates from several other companies, all of which were within about $200 of one another. SHM's estimate was $1000 more than any of the other estimates! SHM estimated $1700 for moving approximately 15 pieces of furniture 4 miles. No packing. No boxes. Perhaps we got the sales rep. on a bad day, or at a bad time, but I expected more from such a highly rated service provider.

They were excellent. I'd give them the highest rating. I would absolutely use them. I'd recommend them to anybody. These guys were very efficient.

Everything went very smoothly. From the estimator through the packers and movers, all were on time, professional, and very helpful. Follow up phone calls from the office to make sure we were happy.

South Hills movers was very professional, prompt and efficient. The movers were very kind and got the work done very quickly. They packed up our entire home (about 1500 square feet) and moved us to a new home. Price was a little higher than other companies; but still very reasonable. They did an excellent job; we would highly recommend them.

It was pretty good, but they were pretty unprofessional. The guys were complaining about their job while they were moving furniture in my house.

They arrive on time and were very helpful and careful. They had to work around some workmen who were installing a breaker box and everything was done smoothly and quickly. I was very pleased.
