Residential and commercial local, national & international moving, piano moving, storage & warehousing facilities.
The guys arrived, packed up our large manufacturing equipment, relocated it across town and seemed to have a ball during the entire process. They were fun, friendly and did a great job moving our equipment. Nothing was damaged in transit..in fact, great care was taken to ensure our equipment was safe and sound.
Description of Work: South Hills Movers were the BEST to work with! We hired them to during our business re-location. We asked them to move just the big stuff and could not have been happier with the level of service, customer interaction, quality and friendliness. We will definitely be calling them in the future.

My wife and I packed the house items. South Hills Movers packed paintings and wrapped furniture. They arrived on time, worked fast and professionally, loaded the truck and unloaded it at the storage facility. A very good experience. I actually forget how much I paid, but I did think it was a little high. But, over all it was well worth it.

i was amazed at how fast, efficient and high quality the move was. I have used other movers before, but these guys were the cream of the crop. I definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: they moved our 4 bedroom house into a temporary 1 bedroom apartment and lined the walls with our boxes and furniture. everything was well organized with boxes and furniture floor to ceiling and wall to wall. some walls were 3 levels deep. I couldn't believe they would be able to do it, but they did. there was very limited damage - mostly just some minor scraps on my wooden chairs. I was very pleased with the job they did. it took them only 2 hours to empty the house and less than three hours to bring it up the elevator to our apartment. truly an amazing and excellent job.

Everything went very well. We used to live on a hill and the larger truck couldn't get to the house, so they loaded it onto a smaller van and then transported onto the large moving truck and they treated all my belongings with great care. Nothing was broken and everything was accounted for. They were very thorough and great to work with. I got quotes from two other moving companies and their pricing was very fair and I would highly recommend them!

Picture it: Pittsburgh, 2012. Pouring rain on a Saturday morning. It was my first time using movers, and by the end of the morning I was wondering why I ever moved without using movers. South Hills made a normally horrible process a great experience. It was a relatively small move -- from a 600 sq ft apartment to a house -- but they really took care with my belongings and worked hard. There were two pieces of furniture which I would have bet wouldn't make it out of the apartment (they were assembled in the room), but the crew took the initiative to figure out a way to make it work. All in all, I'd recommend this company again!

I called South Hills Movers based on reviews from Angies List and from talking to other people who have used them. They came very highly recommended and after calling them to set up times and change times I would say their reputation is well deserved. They are always professional and were very helpful. Tom came out to give the estimate and he explained how it will all work. He also said that South Hills Movers would give us some boxes to help with the packing. I've moved several times and never had that happen. They showed up with the smaller truck that is required by the community that we are moving into. 3 young men took care with absolutely everything. They did an initial walkthrough to get an idea of what is going and how to pack the truck. The wrapped everything that could be damaged. They were always respectful and polite. The loading of the truck went well, with no problems. But there were several items in the house that we decided not to take but I asked the movers if they would bring a couple of large items out of the basement (up a flight of stairs) to store in the garage. They took care of it without a negative comment. It helped us a great deal. Once the truck was loaded they took another walk through with us, room by room to see if anything was missed. We drove straight over to the new place and unloading went quicker. No furniture was damaged or scratched. The newly painted walls didn't have a single mark. After bringing in everything we started rearranging furniture and one of the movers jumped in immediately and said "let me do that for you". When they left they took lots of empty boxes with them and cleaned up very well. I would use them again in a minute.

We called every single mover we could get from Angie's list as well as our own yellow pages. We finally found one who would come and complete the survey South Hills required. South Hills came highly recommended and were the only movers who would give us the dates we needed. Everyone else was already booked for the month of August by the time we learned of our closing dates. No deposit or contract was asked for at this juncture, though Iwe would have gladly given one. We were told no deposits were taken for long- distance moves. "First come, first serve.. " A local company finally responded after we made several calls, did the survey and also told us they could NOT possibly do the move before Labor Day. I didn't much worry by this time because I thought we were set with South Hills Movers. We were finally emailed the results of the contents and weight estimate to be moved, after waiting almost a week. I called to get the email address of the agent I worked with at South Hills moving company to forward the survey. I was immediately told they had nothing available until September. I was devastated and panicked. I told the woman on the phone I had already been assured I had those dates reserved. She looked up my name, and had my information on file, gave me the email address and extension and passed me on to the agent. All I got was voice mail. My call was not returned. My email was not returned. I then called her supervisor who said she would contact her and have her call me. In the meantime while waiting for that call, hoping this was just a misunderstanding and that there was a reservation someone perhaps couldn't find, I called a few more moving companies only to get the same answer - everyone was booked! I recalled the original local people who did the survey and explained our situation. Luckily, the people who are buying our house are military and get priority status. We have to move a little sooner by a few days, but they are accommodating us because they are handling all military moves. South Hills put us in an awful position and we are very disappointed given the recommendations received and promises made. By the time the agent I was working with called back, I had resolved the situation on my own, not without growing a few more gray hairs in the process. Moving is a very stressful time. This is the 19th time I have done it. Some we have done ourselves others have been done commercially, but to have something like this happen, is one of the worst experiences of things that can go terribly wrong in a move. This is VERY bad business and the least South Hills should do in a situation like this is find some alternatives to back up their shortage of trucks or recommendations of other companies so that people aren't left hanging out to dry like we were.
Description of Work: I called in July to get an estimate and to reserve two days during the last week of August as soon as I knew the approximate closing date of our home in upstate NY, as well as the closing for the home we are buying in Pittsburgh. I was given a "ballpark figure" as well as instructions on getting a survey done by a local mover here in NY, to get an approximation of weight and the size truck needed to send, as soon as possible to get an accurate quote.

Working with South Hills Movers (SHM) was a great experience. In the process of calling to get estimates from several moving companies I called SHM. The person on the phone indicated that they typically provide free estimates in person after a representative has a chance to assess what is to be moved and she offered to schedule a day/time to have someone come to my house. I was able to schedule the following morning for an estimate. The woman who came was punctual and very friendly. We walked through my house and I pointed out what we would have the company move (versus what we planned to shuttle in our cars). After the walk through she worked up the estimate on the spot. The estimate was for 3 movers and a specific number of boxes with an hourly quoted rate (a little higher for a Saturday move) and a time estimate. The hourly rate was competitive with the other companies that I had called so I ended up booking it. SHV called a couple days ahead of the move to confirm and provided a time to expect them. On the day of the move the truck showed up a little early with 3 younger guys and one that was a little older and clearly the director of operations. One of the younger guys was in training so he was considered a free-be since he wouldn't move as fast as the experienced guys. After a quick walk through of the house they got to work. They were able to clear out the house in a remarkably fast amount of time and we were on our way to the new house. Upon arriving at the new house we showed them around and they got back to work (I stood outside and directed what went where). Saying they hustled would be an understatement. The one guy literally ran back to the truck after each load was deposited inside. They also loaded themselves down pretty heavily with each trip they took. They ended up finishing way faster than estimated so the cost was less than expected. All of the guys were polite and took care not to damage anything. All in all it was a really good experience and I would definitely recommend them to a friend.

South Hills Movers came on 7/20/2012 to move our 4 bedroom house. The 4 gentleman that moved us Dennis, Shane, Sawyer and the driver (I do not remember his name) were nothing short of phenomenal. They took such care to protect our doorways in addition to our furniture at both the origination and the destination. During the move it started to not just rain but pour. The 4 guys literally ran back and forth from the truck to the house to eliminate the time our furniture was in the rain. They were extremely pleasant, courteous and efficient. My only complaint was the sales person that accessed the items prior to our move. We have 3 TV?s (32?, 50? and 70?). We told the sales person, Steve Mlinarich, that we would move the 32? TV ourselves. We asked that South Hills Movers box the 50? and build a crate for the 70?. On the day of the move, there was a crate the 32? tv (that we were supposed to move ourselves) a box for the 50? and nothing for the 70? TV. I looked at the e-mail estimates from South Hills Movers and it specifically said: ?WE ARE TO PACK LARGE FLAT SCREEN TV IN LR AND WE ARE TO CRATE LG FLATCREEN IN BASE MENT 64{L] X 39[H] X W[1] ?SHIPPER WILL TAKE FLATSCREEN IN BEDROOM?. I am not sure where the disconnect was but we were told that the only crate in the warehouse with our name was a 32? TV create. Also, when Steve came to assess the move we discussed the dumbbells and weight plates in our garage. When the movers arrived, they said there was no mention of pairs of dumbbells (ranging in weight from 55 lbs down to 10 lbs). The movers also said there was no mention of the pairs of weight plates ranging in weight from 45lbs to 5 lbs. The movers were surprised that another van to carry these items was not added to the move. Despite the shortcomings of the estimate of the items we had the move, the movers did an amazing job. To say they saved the day is an understatement. The items BARELY fit on the truck they had. I think they even had to move their cooler to get the last bit of furniture in the truck. The movers said having another van for the overflow would have saved time since they could have backed this up to the garage and load the weights and plates faster and easier. In essence, this incompetent estimate cost the movers time and in turn cost us money. I can honestly say that if they did not have such diligent movers, this review would not be glowing and I would not be a happy customer. The men that came to move us that day are truly the face of the company and I feel they were flexible, accommodating and hard-working enough to MAKE things work. They had to work harder and faster because of poor estimation. The movers had to take the time to pad and wrap the 70? TV?something they did not plan on doing. They were also well versed in customer service and credited us cost of the crate for the 32? TV since it was something we never ordered. This saved me time, and a phone call to the office to get this credit back. A few of my friends who will be moving in the near future and also one of my best friends who is a Howard Hanna agent asked me how the move went. I spoke highly of South Hills Movers and told everyone how hard working the movers. I said I have never seen 4 men work so hard, careful and fast. I also mentioned how they made accommodations for the poor estimation. I also advised them to ask for another sales person so that if they are not as lucky to have the movers I did, the transaction will still go smoothly. I am giving an A+ review on Angie?s list, only because I feel the 4 men that did the actual moving saved the day and the face of the company.

My experience with this company was horrible from the very beginning. I emailed the VP of Sales, William Brack, almost one week ago regarding my dissatisfaction, and still have not heard anything back. The following is a description of my experience: I initially contacted the company via the website on Sunday evening, June 24. I filled out a detailed form regarding the furniture that I would like to have moved. On Monday morning, I received an email from Kelley McCord, saying thank you for the request, and to give her a call at my earliest convenience. I called at approximately 10am, but was sent to voicemail. I did not hear back from anyone until almost 4pm, and as I was at work I was unable to answer the call. When I called back Kelley said no more than two words before transferring me to someone named Erica, who did nothing more than to ask if there was anything more to add to my request than what I had already filled out on the online form. She also asked if there was any flexibility in my move date, saying that because I was calling that far in advance that they would be able to work with me regarding arranging to have a truck in the area. I asked her if in the estimate I could be told how long it would take to get my belongings to Pittsburgh, as this would influence the pick up date, as I was not going to be up to PA until the week of August 6 and could not have the furniture delivered before this time. I was then told that someone would send me an estimate by the end of the following workday at the latest. When I didn't receive an estimate the next day I emailed Kelley, basically summarizing that I was frustrated with the progression of things and how I had been treated on the phone thus far. I received an email back on June 27 with the following: " I am sorry for any inconvenience, your information has been passed to the sales representative Tom Genis. Again I apologize for any inconvenience we were very short handed on Monday and this is the busiest time of year. I have left Tom Genis an urgent message to call you right away." I then received another email from Kelley shortly after with an estimate from Tom. After looking at the estimate and not seeing anything about a delivery date, I emailed Kelley again saying that I needed this information. I heard from Tom the following day, but I was unable to pick up the phone. I listened to the voicemail and he did not leave the information that I asked for, saying that I would have to talk with Kelley to arrange dates. I then emailed Kelley yet again asking for this information, and she said she would submit the dates to the planning department. The final email I received from her said that the only dates available before August was July 20, to deliver between 7/25 and 7/30. Obviously this would not work, as I had told them repeatedly that I would not be available until the week of August 6. I also was told that there was plenty of flexibility and they would work around my schedule. I emailed Kelley back saying that this would not work, and that I was planning on sending a formal complaint and leaving a negative ranking on Angie's list in the hope of preventing someone else from having to waste close to two weeks of their time. I am now scrambling trying to find someone to help me relocate at the end of the month. I am appalled at the poor customer service provided from start to finish.I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere for your moving needs, as this company has a lot of growing up to do.

I cannot say enough about how well this move went. These guys showed up on time, took inventory of the house and then proceeded to work for 8 1/2 hours straight in 98 degree heat. Throughout the whole day they were polite, professional, jovial, and worked incredibly hard all day in miserable conditions. It was hot and humid and they moved us out of a 3 floor house and into another 3 floor house. Not a thing was broken, not a scratch on our furniture, and everything was placed exactly where we wanted it. If they weren't sure where something went, they asked. This was such a nice group of guys and very professional service - this really exceeded my expectations. I have used South Hills for office moves as well and would recommend them to anyone.

The They were FANTASTIC. Why had we not hired a moving service before? I was really worried, but South Hills came in easily under budget, and not a thing was broken. The movers were professional and moved very quickly. They packed almost everything on the first day, and they came back to finish the morning of the second. They also made sure to leave a few essentials for us for the night so that we'd have a bed to sleep on and some dishes for cereal. I honestly have nothing bad to say about these guys.

They broke some things and I would never use them again. The guy came through and gave us an estimate of the price and how long it would take. The day of moving, we were trying to help. They kept telling us not to help, they would do that for us. They would tell us to stop bringing stuff out to the truck they would get it. When we got to the house, one guy dropped a couple boxes and broke some things. Every hour they would take a ten to fifteen minute break. The movers asked me how many hours were quoted and I told him nine. They started going even slower after that and actually came within 15 mins of the quoted time. I would not use them again.

Our experience with South Hills Moving was outstanding from start to finish: the best experience we've ever had with a moving company. We were pressed for time -- having only a week available to sort through things and make arrangements -- and South Hills happily accommodated us. David came out and gave us an accurate estimate for packing and transportation. He came out the day after we called, was genuine and easy to work with, and committed to having things packed and taken out four days later. The folks who came to pack and transfer the furniture and boxes arrived on time, were courteous, quickly but carefully packed things up (nothing was lost or broken in the move, including the 260 year-old dishes), and quickly had things loaded. Three weeks later -- several days before promised -- their truck arrived in front of our home in Seattle, and the drivers just as efficiently carried everything in and positioned a large antique corner cabinet for us (twice, when we change our minds about where we wanted it). Again: on time, courteous and efficient. Kelley, our contact at the main office, was awesome. She answered the phone when we called (if you've ever dealt with a mover where you go straight to voice-mail, this is huge), she was cheerful and professional, whenever we had questions about dates, etc., she had the answers. We were never in the dark about where our things were, or when they would be delivered. Again, the whole experience was outstanding. If we ever need to do another cross-country move, South Hills will be the first place we call.
Description of Work: We live in Seattle, WA and hired South Hills Movers to move my mother's belongings from Pittsburgh (where she'd recently entered a memory-care unit) to Seattle. We engaged South Hills to pack and load things, including antique furniture and 18th-century dishes, transport it across the country to Seattle and move it into our home.

They were courteous, quick and even unpacked me in Pittsburgh (while I was at work). It was the best moving experience (and I have moved domestically and internationally) that I have ever had. From others, I have heard that they are more expensive but I assumed given my needs and the timeframe, that most would have charged as much or more.
Description of Work: On very short notice, they arrived, packed and moved me from Atlanta, GA to Pittsburgh, PA.
