Tony - the owner - came out very quickly for an estimate and emailed the estimate within 24 hours. We called another company with good reviews and they gave us the exact same estimate. We decided to go with R&R because they had availability in 2-3 weeks. A few days after we received the estimate, Tony called to say they had a cancellation and asked if they could come the next day (a Sunday - I was pleasantly surprised they worked everyday). We had the work completed within a week to a week and a half after the estimate. They came early, set everything up and finished in one day. They came out the next day to clean all debris. Everyone was very friendly and Tony checked in twice during the day.

I telephoned the office four days ago and requested service related to rain dripping down the chimney. The woman who answered the phone said the owner would return my call, but four days later I have yet to receive a call back. I understand they may be busy, but I would expect a return call telling me that they were too busy to service my chimney.

I just went through my Answering Service message pages for the last 2 weeks. I do not have a message from customer. I do not no if you are thinking of another company. If you are an Angie's List customer proper procedure is to go through Anige's List messenger service. If you would like to contact me that way or call me directly I will be more that happy to take a look at your job. Sorry for any confusion. Tony 412-760-0835

Initial response was prompt. Bid provided in one day. I accepted bid even though it was not the lowest because the owner answered all my questions. He provided a summary of what needed to be done that I thought was thorough and fit my preconceived notions (I have some construction experience, but at 74 years old, this job was way too big for me!). The job was started on Saturday (6/20/2015) and continued over the weekend. It was completed on Tuesday morning (6/23/2015). The work force was friendly and very professional. They worked nearly continuously (2 or 3 men per day), even under adverse conditions on the first day (light rain nearly the entire day). The owner stopped by 3 or 4 times a day to check on the progress and to provide guidance where needed. It took 2 days to excavate all the old mortar (a labor intensive and tedious job) and 1 day to repoint all of the joints. The fourth day was for cleanup and sealing the entire patio and sidewalks (about 590 sq ft in all). Also included was the repair (rebuilding) of 1 large step (4x11 ft) and 3 smaller ones. I would highly recommend this vendor to anyone who needs an experienced contractor to do stone work.
Description of Work: Repaired stone patio and steps which had deteriorated (mortar joints) over a period of about 20 years.

A couple of days after initial call, we were contacted and we advised as to the chimney requiring repair. A written estimate was supplied and the work was scheduled. They showed up on the date promised and erected scaffolding, and the work followed over the next couple of days. The repair quality seems to be excellent and matches the old brick work very well.

We are extremely pleased with R&R Masonry Restoration yet a second time, (the first experience was eight years prior). The current excellent quality masonry work and professional experience of working with Tony to repair our chimney was consistent with previous masonry repair work done on a full brick addition at the back of our home. We'd hire them again. The finished chimney aesthetics and structural function are excellent. It looks like new - yet like it was constructed with the original house, not patch work. Working with Tony and his crew was an excellent experience, his honest and highly professional business practices, coupled with he and his team's knowledgeable, highly skilled no-nonsense approach was refreshing. We received a professionally detailed written proposal for the job - work followed the plan plus more. Once under contract, Tony was promptly in communication - securing agreement on prep setup and work schedule. A prep team set up scaffolding the day prior to masonry work start. Craftsmen were professional, experienced and industrious workers. Work was completed in less than 2 days. Scaffolding was dismantled by end of the 2nd day - you'd never know our side yard had been a work site.
Description of Work: Chimney Repair - Scaffolding was erected. Dismantled 2-3 feet of chimney bricks, and existing cement crown. Also cut out and replaced other damaged bricks below this line. Chimney was rebuilt using new brick with tinted mortar. Repointing was done where needed. Rinse and clean up of all debris at finish, and sealer was applied. A custom stainless steel cover was added at end.

Well, Tony probably needs another great review like a hole in the head; but I actually called and thanked him for the job he and his associates performed. This is old school craftsmanship. My walls look like new. He matched the brick and the mortar perfectly. He was also a pleasure to work with, as were his men who came each day. I would absolutely use Tony for any brick, stone, or mortar repair I would have in the future.

Time has come and gone. I called the phone number to which I was provided and left a message. Unfortunately, he was a no call no show! In my opinion this is extremely unprofessional and unacceptable. Furthermore, I would highly suggest any future potential customer consider whether or not to waste their precious time on someone unable to fulfill a simple business relationship.
Description of Work: I originally contacted Tony in September 2014 left a message and no response. I decided to give him a second chance yesterday by leaving a message. I was very pleased every step of the way. Notably, Tony honored a quote from several months ago even though the job ended up being more involved than initially guessed, including having to put in footers. They salvaged as many of the original bricks as possible, including new bricks (as well matched as possible for color) as necessary, and the final result looks great. Tony was responsive to communications before and during the job, and took care to minimize disruption at the house during the work. Thumbs up all around!

The work went really well. Tony was good to speak to. He came to see where we wanted the mailbox. We paid 50% upfront, which felt a bit high but was OK. The work was done on time as planned and the result was very good, just as we asked for. They built according to a photo we sent.

Tony and his crew did a professional job. Tony kept me informed as the jobs progressed, each member of the crew made sure their part of the project was done in detail. All the replaced bricks and mortar were matched exactly to the original. Tony also did some extra pointing in work that was unexpected. I highly recommend him to any person who is in need of masonry work, they will not be disappointed. He goes above and beyond what is expected.

Tony called and had team on the job within 2 weeks of returning signed estimate of work. The team set up scaffolding on a Saturday morning and wrapped it up Sunday afternoon for the price quoted. Athough I applaud their work ethic and their want to get the job done, my only constructive feedback would be to not be so eager to get to the job on Sunday mornings, come after say 8-830am..The team did excellent work, cleaned up after the job and were very professional while on job site. The chimney looks great and since I asked for the bricks they removed, they stacked them neatly out of the way for me to use for a new fire pit. I would recommend their services.

This company is awesome. Do yourself a favor and call Tony at R&R Masonry. I had no affiliataion with this company prior to having this work done. I had about 5 other masonry companies come out to my house to give me an estimate on repointing my old house prior to getting an estimate from R&R. They were all hesitant about taking the job on and only two actually gave me an estimate, both of which were much higher than R&R. The three story house is located in Pittsburgh and required scaffolding in a tight space with neighboring houses in close proximity. Tony showed up on time to give me an estimate and offered a positive, can do attitude from the beginning. Tony was the only person to show up and not hesitate when he said R&R could do the job. After I accepted the estimate Tony gave me a heads up when his guys would show up to construct the scaffolding. He had a crew of like eight guys come in and three hours later I had scaffolding surrounding my entire house. The teamwork his crew showed was quite impressive. His crew worked tirelessly for the next two weeks to complete the job. They were there every day and on time. I know it would have taken another company with only a few guys much longer (probably at least a month) to complete the job. All his workers were friendly and worked with my neigbors to ensure that they had no problems with all the work going on. The job site was always kept clean. Tony also worked with me to have some other work done on the house that required his scaffolding which saved me alot of money. Not many other contractors would be okay with this. Bottom line is that this Tony and his crew at R&R Masonry are the utmost professionals. When I saw the finished product and all the hard work that went into this, I knew I had gotten a bargain. The quality of the work was absolutely fantastic. People that drive or walk by can't stop checking it out. I feel so fortunate that I found R&R and that they took this large project on. A job like this could of turned into a nightmare with a lesser company.Tony said that he does jobs large and small, so if you need any brick work done you want to call this company.

We had a leak inside the home around the chimney area inside the sunroom of a ranch house. After an insurance inspection it was determined we needed a new roof and the chimney repointed. Tony Reber and R&R Masonry Restoration did the chimney work. (I also had roof work done by another company following the chimney work.) The communication with Tony and the office was excellent. When I called my calls were promptly returned. The team was respectful of my property and cleaned up after every day's work. A scaffolding was erected the day before work began and was promptly removed upon completion. The large crew was professional and work was completed in a timely manner. I had the inspection, bid and completion of the project within 4 weeks as had been promised. The stainless steel cap was put on after my other roof work had been done. Everything went well. I had a professional inspection and bid with no hard sell. The work that was to be done was explained in a professional way and completed exactly as described. I would highly recommend Tony Reber and R&R Masonry Restortation.

Received a call back from Tony the same day I called R &R to explain what was needed. Tony said he would be by to check it out. Much to my surprise he had attempted to come by on a Saturday. I was amazed at his response. Unfortunately he got lost and called to let me know he would be by either Sunday or Monday. I didn't hear from him nor did I receive a quote so about a week later I called to see if he was still interested, or if maybe the quote was misplaced or lost. He never returned my call. I can't comment on his quality but the lack of professionalism is ridiculous. If you don't want the job just say so. This caused a 2 week delay in moving forward and getting on another mason's schedule.

In a nut shell I think their work is outstanding! My comments basically echo the other recent reports giving them an A grade. I live and in an old house in the Highland Park section city of Pittsburgh. The house is three floors tall with 11 to 13 foot ceilings, the brick on the outside is a thin roman pressed brick with thin mortar joints. It is exceptionally difficult finding people who can do quality work or even have the capability of doing the job. We have four massive brick chimneys that are somewhat different. They are not just straight, smooth, up and down columns but instead have interior flutes or inserts which run up on all four sides of the chimney and have a brick top crown that goes out in ten layers for about a foot on the top. Each chimney also has a six inch high sandstone cap in about 4 pieces, each weighing from 100 to 200 pounds. Repair is made more difficult with a slate roof and the chimney?s location with no easy accessibility on some sides of the chimneys from straight up exterior scaffolding. Finding someone who could work on the chimneys was a daunting task. I received one estimate and, for two years, was given excuses as to why the work could not be done when scheduled. Another person could not find out how to get the scaffolding to reach all sides of the chimney even though he had asked Safeway Scaffolding Company to erect it for him. As I was waiting for someone to do the work, the condition of the chimneys deteriorated as caps fell off and bricks fell down. Parts of the chimney had to be rebuilt and brick that had been broken needed to be replaced. In addition the entire chimney columns needed attention. This year I hit upon R&R Masonry and Tony Reber, the owner. I can say whole heartedly it was a wonderful experience and the quality and speed of the workmanship was fantastic. The scaffolding turned out to be 60 to 75 feet high with multiple sections on two sides of the house. There were bridges across to a flat part of the roof and wood planking everywhere. Probably 150 sections of scaffolding were used. R&R is a large company (they had six or seven company labeled trucks parked at one time on my property during the course of the work) and already had all of the necessary scaffolding and wood. The crew that erected the scaffolding was personable, friendly, exceptionally helpful, and very hard-working. Before the job started I was worried about the type and quantity of the repairs. I asked Tony what the finished product would look like he replied that it would look like when it had been initially constructed. I must admit I didn't really believe it but the finished product is exactly like that. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Tony Reber and R&R Masonry construction to do difficult chimney work. I would assume they would be equally good on an easy job.
