R&R was on time, highly professional, courteous and willing to work within my required timeline. They provided a detailed written estimate along with an extensive list of references. When on the job, these guys hustled the whole time! I couldn't be happier with the finished product or the way in which the work was performed. They are now my masons of choice - I'll certainly hire them again and I'd highly recommend them to everyone!
Description of Work: I had a brick pillar at the back of my house that had begun to subside. R&R jacked up the supporting walls, took the existing pillar down brick by brick, made the required repairs to stabilize the pillar and reconstructed the whole thing using the original bricks matching the mortar perfectly to the rest of the house. They even filled in some gaps that the original masons in the 1940's left open, making the finished whole much more esthetically pleasing than it was when I moved in years ago.

FANTASTIC! We initially talked to a few differnt pointing/masonry companies and Tony Reber (owner) set himself apart right away. He came out and we received an estimate in the mail shortly thereafter. However, with the estimate were 3 pages of references throughout the area. Names, phone numbers, addresses...it was easy to do some due diligence on Tony's firm. Tony's estimate also included a cafeteria type price. He identifiied the minimum price and then gave us options for additional work (such as rebricking areas vice just repointing them, etc. The bottom line is that he let us choose what we wanted to do so there would be no surprises during the project. Also, we found out that there is a wide range between masonry/repointing companies. Some just show up, grind out the mortar, repoint and move on. With Tony's firm, you get an initial powerwashing, the grinding process, the mortaring process, another powerwash with a masonry solvent that gets rid of the film off the brick and then a sealant is applied. Its truly extraordinary. We chose to use his firm and were very impressed with everything. A week prior to the start date his guys started to show up and erect scaffolding. They started the process and at different times there were teams of 6-8 worker there. And, most importantly, Tony was a constant presence at our home. Also, Tony's workers are terrific. They are all very pleasant, honest guys and its the little things that count...like, putting our newspaper in the door every day, talking to our neighbors to make sure they are not impacted by the work, cleaning their driveways, etc. The project took about 8-10 days and Tony just kept everything moving forward. A long the way there were issues that came up such as some lentils that needed replacing and were not quoted and also our detached garage which was not part of the original quote. Tony took care of these at no extra charge. Now, our home looks brand new and the brick is ready to go another hundred years. I heartily recommend Tony's firm for jobs big and small. You will be thrilled with the result.
Description of Work: We bought an 85 year old clinker brink home that had been horribly maintained over the years. The home itself is large, over 3,000 square feet and the previous owners answer to mortar problems was solved with large quantities of caulking, which was smearer all over our entrance way. The house was permeated with holes due to missing mortar everywhere and the entire 3rd floor was missing all the mortar entirely.

Excellent! Tony was prompt with returning initial and follow up calls. When the work was in process he would frequently monitor the progress via phone and face to face visits. He would check in with me frequently to answer any questions and to monitor work as it progressed and ensured my satisfaction throughout the process. Tony appears to have experienced stone masons working with him. I was most impressed by the work of Nunzio who was extremely generous in sharing his knowledge of the trade and took the time to teach me about the process of laying brick. In addition, Nunzio and Tony appeared concerned about the outcome of the project vs the time and going to another job. Tony took additional time to ensure the work site was cleaned of debris. I highly recommend R&R Restoration and look forward to future projects.

I called them, they just came in and sent me a quote without even talking to me, that is why I didn't like them. They didn't even try to contact me and I didn't even know they will come or not. They gave me very high quote. I called them later and they told me they have a lot of experience, but they could not quote it properly. The quoted amount was $14,000.

I had many cracked, broken and loose bricks in my sidewalk leading up to my porch. They came when they said they would and completed the work on time. Now the sidewalk looks great and is much safer. I going to have them come back this summer to do some work on my patio wall.

Great people to deal with. Originally, I was extremely pleased with the job. Later, when I realized the cement wasn't a consistent shade/color around the house, I also noticed that it appeared that different people may have worked on my project. One was extremely good at matching cement color and whose work was very neat. The other was not as neat and the color match was off. Clean up was good and they were very quiet. I did not go out for bids so I cannot guage if they were in the range or not. I do know they honored the senior citizen discount after-the-fact. They gave a bid on the job, did it, and then I asked about their senior discount. The owner approved it on the phone. That says a lot from where I sit. As far as waiting so long to submit a report, I was waiting to see if the cement color was going to even out and it didn't. THe repair on the porch corner was great. Again, they were easy to deal with and really tried to meet your expectations. From that perspective, I would use them again.

Tony and his crew did the exact work they said they would for the price they quoted. Tony is very ease to work with. He started the job when he said he would and kept me apprised of all relevant facts at each step in the process. He even had his crew take care of some other tasks for me, while on-site. These tasks were not even related to the job at hand. The house looks amazing thanks to the work of Tony and his crew. He is very professional in his approach and I will definitely use him again. It is refreshing to deal with someone that does what they say they will, for the price quoted.

They did a great job and I would give them the highest recommendation. They were very efficient, the owner came out on a Saturday, looked at the work and gave us a price. I was concerned that they would get into the middle of the job and find that they need more bricks than originally thought and we might incur additional costs. He said the number he gives us will be the price no matter what they encounter. He was very comfortable in making that insertion based on what he saw. They did the work in a course of a few days. We weren't home, it was completely exterior work, they started the work and finished on the second day and everything was neat and tidy. I paid by credit card and that was it, it might be the most efficient interaction I've ever had with a contractor. I recommend them completely, they were absolutely awesome. Actually, I've recommended them to a couple of people.

Amazing..performed a fabulous job!!
Description of Work: Due to land sliding, the exterior of my home had began to crack and actually shift the bricks along with twisting the lentil above my garage door. Never did I believe my home could regain its beauty. The bricks had cracked themselves and the gate entrance had crack off from the porch and twisted, causing the cast iron gate to no longer work at all. Tony and his crew were amazing. Extremely hard working, perfectionists and never will you find a trace of debris from their day's of work anywhere on your property. My estimate was 1000.00 more but Tony being the honest man that he is, found that one of the pieces of material that he assumed needed to be replaced, actually didn't. And lowered my price of the job. Let's be honest...some would have NOT told you of this. They went above and beyond , to the point of finding a paint color that matched my homes bricks and painted the lentil the were installing, just to make it perfect. I recommend this company to all.....you will not be sorry.

R&R Masonry did an outstanding job in every respect. Tony Reber, who is the owner, was a pleasure to work and knows masonry restoration extremely well. He and his crew did excellent work. I only have very positive things to say about the fine work that they did and how they did it. I would highly recommend R&R Masonry to anyone who needs masonry restoration work done.
Description of Work: R&R Masonry re-built the top six feet of my house's chimney, which had bricks that were spalling. In particular, they did the following: 1. Erected scaffolding that was about 35 feet tall. (2) Dismantled the top six feet of the chimney. (3) Used new bricks in re-building the chimney. (4) Installed a new cement crown consisting of Portland cement, fine sand, and a bonding agent (Acryl 60). (5) Had a custom stainless steel chimney cover built and installed it on top of the chimney. (6) Did a good job in cleaning up all debris and hauling it away.

Tony and his crew from R & R masonry did an excellent job on all of the work performed on our home. They were onsite for one week to repoint our entire 3 story city house. Because the weather was nice, they worked on saturday and sunday, which I did not expect. Everyone associated with R&R was very professional when they were onsite. They cleaned the work area everyday and at the end of the job did a great job cleaning the the entire area around our home. If you have this type of work done, be sure your neighbors are aware and they cover anything up outside that they do not want brick and mortar dust to get on, and that all of their windows are closed. After my neighbor didn't cover their deck furniture (after I told them this work would be done), R&R came out again to clean up for them as well. I would highly recommend R&R Masonry to anyone!

Tony is an honest contractor who delivers exactly what he proposes. His crew is very thorough, efficient, neat and extremely accommodating to our neighbors. R & R pointed our entire house on the South Side. It is a stand alone 110 yr. old house in great need of pointing. Having neighbors so close, the scaffolding had to be set up on their property. Tony's crew was outstanding ~ they went well above the call of duty to keep everyone happy, hanging tarps around the entire scaffolding making sure the dirt was contained as much as possible and cleaning up daily. They also never stopped once the job was started, working everyday (including 2 weekends) until the job was finished. The end result was amazing ~ better than we ever anticipated. The house looks fantastic thanks to Tony and his crew!
Description of Work: Put up scaffolding around the house. Covered all windows, grind out all mortar joints where it was needed. High pressure wash 101 detergent to remove all dirt from face of brick. Re-point the whole house using tan mortar. Wash and remove any excess mortar from face of brick. Remove and replace damaged brick. Applied water repellent to complete the job. Installed new cement crown on chimney.

An old kitchen exhaust fan was no longer functioning and was loose in the wall. This wall is all brick. There was a small steel beam above the opening which had also cause some cracking. I called R and R and they called back the next day. Tony showed up within a few days to look at the job and to give me an estimate. The proposal was mail to me in a few days. I called to schedule the job and we scheduled the work to be done the following week. The day before the work was done, Tony stopped by and brought some examples of bricks to match the existing bricks and mortar. The following day the masons showed up promptly and completed the work by noon. They removed additional bricks around the opening so they could match everything with full bricks and remove all of the old caulking. The also removed the old beam. After the job they did an excellent job in cleaning up and I am very happy with the quality of the results.

Very well. Tony Reber, the owner of R&R, returned my initial phone call, came out to examine my job, and gave me a quote all in a very timely and diligent manner. He was able to schedule my job fairly quickly, and performed the job over the course of a few days (not full days: scaffolding set up one afternoon; prep work another afternoon; and then the actual brick work involving three men for about 5 or 6 hours on the third and final day). The work required erection of substantial scaffolding, including a cantilevered section over a portion of our roof so as to be able to work on the "house" side of the chimney without standing on the roof surface itself. This was very important to me because of the type of roof we have on our house - Alcoa aluminum "shakes" made to look like wooden shakes. These aluminum "shakes" are hollow, however, and will be crushed flat if walked or stood upon, obviously ruining the appearance and, perhaps, compromising the effectiveness of the roof. Tony was very cognizant of this issue, and assured me (correctly) that his people would not damage the roof. When the job was finished, the entire work area was very clean, especially considering the type of work and little pieces of old brick and/or mortar that were dislodged during the process (the cutting out of old mortar/bricks generates quite a bit of dust, so people should be prepared to move or cover downwind items before the work begins). All in all, I was very pleased with the professionalism, diligence and workmanship in completing the job.
Description of Work: I had a chimney that had loose/falling mortar near the top, and chunks of brick from the same area beginning to fall off / flake off - I don't know if this is typical for 45-year old houses/chimneys, but I can see that several houses in my neighborhood (all of a similar age) have apparently had this done, as well. R&R cut out the compromised mortar and bricks for about 8-10 rows of brick down from the top, and relayed the missing bricks with ones that had been matched for color. They also used tinged grout/mortar to attempt to match the aged look of the existing grout, so that the affected area blends in with the rest of the chimney. They also constructed a rounded concrete cap for the top, and repointed other sections of the supporting chimney structure.
