We were very happy with the work Tony did - he was very responsive, got the job done quickly and the results were great - we can hardly see where some of the repairs are. He does quality work and we would work with him again.
Description of Work: Repairs to lintels and chimney and re-pointing where needed, closed a hole from an old fan
The whole job was conducted very professionally. To start with Tony told us to warn our neighbors about dust and noise that would be caused by the grinding of old mortar. The grinding was indeed very loud but we went out for part of each of those days to escape it! The crews were all very courteous. The final clean-up was excellent. Tony checked on the progress of the work every day and sometimes came by 2 or 3 times a day. The result looks great! We're very happy with it. The final cost of $7,800 included a 10% discount for senior citizens and and $100 Angies List coupon.
Description of Work: This job was a complete re-pointing of our whole house (an average size cape-cod style). First a crew of 3 put up scaffolding around the house (half a day); three days later a crew of 2 started the grinding of old mortar; this was followed by pressure washing all round; then a crew of 2 and sometimes 3 started applying the mortar; finally everything was pressure washed again. Not counting the erection of scaffolding, the whole job took almost 6 days with work going on every day and through the weekend. Each crew cleaned up all the mess at the end of each day's work.

Overall A+ job from start to finish. He is a professional and knows his work. Best to let him get started and do his thing and he will probably beat his own estimated finish time.
Description of Work: Removed old brick coming away from wall and replaced it. Replaced 5 lintels and did Brick Pointing removing cracked brick and replacing them. Removed caulking residue from four old columns on front of house. Did an excellent job and I would highly recommend Tony and his company to anyone needing this type of work. Punctual, friendly and courteous; always pointed out things that needed fixing that we hadn't discussed; his crew did an excellent job of cleaning up. Well worth the money and was always willing to work with me on items needing fixing.

After calling them for an estimate, they gave a prompt reply for my request for an estimate. After receiving and accepting the estimate, they called immediately to set up a date for the work to be done. They arrived promptly at the day and time they stated. The workmen were friendly and personable and easy to talk with. Upon completion of the job they asked me to inspect the work, which I found to be fine. I also asked them to look at another unrelated problem I had with a crack in some of the brick under a window. I expected to get some advice as to how to get this fixed but they offered to fix it right then at no extra charge. This they did quickly and expertly. I would recommend them to anyone looking for masonry repairs.
Description of Work: Dismantled chimney to the roof line and rebuilt brick chimney with matching new brick. Matched the mortar with tint. Installed a new cement crown and recaulked the flashing. Water repellent added to complete the job. All debris neatly cleaned up.

I contacted this company on 2-6-12 at 1pm to schedule an appointment for work estimate. My call was returned at 4pm and appointment was scheduled for Sat 2-11-12 at 9am. On date of appointment I waited until 10am, an hour late, before contacting the company to find out when the representative would arrive. I was told that someone would call me back. 15 minutes later I received the call that the appointment had been canceled and the contractor had called me the night before. I did find the contractor's phone number on my caller ID but he did not leave a message informing me of cancellation. Why? There was no excuse to omit the message of cancellation. My time was wasted and I was certainly inconvenienced. This was unprofessional and indicative of unreliability. The cancellation itself was acceptable but not informing the potential customer that the appointment was cancelled, is not acceptable. When you have had many bad experiences with contractors as I have had, the little things prove to be red flags when deciding to hire or not to hire a particular contracting service.
Description of Work: No services performed after scheduled estimate appointment. Chimney/fireplace/masonry demolition and finish work.

All went great! We did most of our communication over the phone, Tony did exactly what we needed, no more and no less. He communicated to me when to let our tenants know they would be there, what to expect, noise, dust and when they would be gone. The brick work looks great, the cracks have all but vanished when looking at the building. There were there for two days and the place looked great, clean up was perfect! Very pleased with them and will definitely use them again! Only thing I wish I had remembered my coupon! OH well, Thanks again Tony!
Description of Work: Two story brick duplex, built approx. 1940's. One corner has been sinking for many years and caused the brick to separate in one corner and under 3 windows. The lintels also had to be re-pointed and small cracks in the cement foundation under the glass block windows. Tony was very prompt in going over to look on a Wed. and gave an estimate: Erect scaffold to the rear of the house. Clean out 2 window lintels with shop saw to relieve upward pressure. Dismantle brick work on lower window sill. Relay in tinted mortar and install wall ties. Re-caulk windows where brick work is separated from windows. High pressure rinse to complete job. Clean up all debris when done.

Everything was done that I expected and done very well. Several courses and cap was removed and new matching brick was installed with cement cap. Also metal cap was installed to keep rain and show from laying on cement cap which I didn't expect. Tony said he'll come back every fall to reseal the chimney free of charge for the lifetime guarantee as long as I own the home.
Description of Work: Chimney was leaking water for wood burning fireplace. The 65 year old home needed repointed in several places due to mortar failure.

Smooth all the way. Thorough. Nice friendly workers. Chimney looks great. Did all the brick work, down and back up, in one day. Everything coordinated nicely with the scaffolding people and Soot Seekers. No wasted time. No unexpected delays. On the first visit, climbed to the chimney to determine exactly what the original chimney looked like: how many flues, was it lined, how bad was the original morter. Experience working with Soot Seekers was a plus; made the entire project go well. Felt we got a quality job done on our project: new chimney, properly lined and new fireplace liner, all up to code. Daily clean up was good as was the final clean up. Site visit occurred quickly. Bid was received promptly. No miscommunications.
Description of Work: Erected scaffolding to 2nd story roof edge and then above that to be able to reach the chimney. Removed all brick from tall, old, leaning, un lined, morter iffy, chimney. Cleaned brick, found additional brick to add height to chimney. Rebuilt the two chamber chimney. After Soot Seekers finished installing chimeny liners, took down the scaffolding.

I had a lentil break and lost approx. 100 bricks out of the front of my house. I called R&R and they supplied a quote that was $300 lesss than the first quote that i got. I confirmed with Tony and he had a crew start within a couple of days. They did great work in trying weather and took great care to envelop the work area in plastic to get the necessary heat. They were done in three days. The job looks great and they cleaned everything up. Top notch job!

We contacted Tony in June and received a written estimate, references and copy of insurance via mail within a day to replace lintels and repoint damaged areas. While we chose to wait a few months and compare estimates, we knew that we would receive the BEST SERVICE from R&R. When we decided to contract Tony do the work, he came out again to review the scope of work with us. While other contractors said we needed to replace 16 lintels, Tony gave us 2 options which was to either replace the lintels or use a chop saw to remove the rust on the lintels to relieve the upward pressure. We initially chose to replace the lintels but the day before, we changed our minds to go with the less expensive option. Tony was VERY understanding and did not mind us changing (a great relief for us that he did not mind our last minute scope change.) Before starting, Tony had been out 3 times to talk with us and answer all our questions. He reassured us that he would do a good job and stand behind his work and he certainly did! To start, his scaffolding supervisor was very nice, respectful, hardworking and accommodating. The crew worked very hard and told us what to expect. Considering that we had a shared driveway, they erected narrow (3 foot wide) scaffolding on the driveway side to allow us to still get back into our driveway and not impede our neighbor. Tony's crew started the lintel and pointing work on a Monday and all was completed by Saturday. Tony was onsite checking his crew's progress every day. When I asked questions to one of his crew members about repointing some vs all of the sills and fixing some of the "home pointing" work we tried the prior year, Tony followed up immediately with me, and assured me that all would be repaired and it was! On the last days of the job, Tony asked if we had any more questions or concerns. Even though my questions were about minor, small spots, Tony followed up and made sure all of the places we questioned were fixed. Even though these were minor, they were addressed. On the last day, I asked if he could add on filling a few holes in the front step and where the step met the house (not in the scope of contract) and he did the work without charging any extra. We are extrememly pleased with the work done by R&R and at the responsiveness and follow-up of the owner, Tony Reber. He did more work than he quoted and all looks great! We are pleased with the work and know that we will contact him again if needed in the future.
Description of Work: Erect scaffolding around the duplex. Cover all windows with shrinkwrap. Clean out 16 lintels. Repoint areas damaged from lintels, holes or discolored mortor and on foundation. Dismantle loose stones and brick on one side and relay. Repoint all window sills where needed.

I was very pleased with the job. It was done quickly; in part because the crew worked so hard and diligently. The supervision was appropriate but the workmen were very professional and competent. They were also polite and cleaned up after themselves. We live in an older brick house and I will definitely be using them again.
Description of Work: Several window lintels were rusted out and the wall panels above two of them were buckling slightly. Another window had been replaced at an earlier date with shoddy masonry . All of this was taken care of and some additional pointing was also done.

I first met Tony Reber earlier this year when we contracted with him to repoint our entire home and as a part of that process, restore nearly all the lintels on a 90 year old clinker brick. The first thing you need to know about Tony, is that when you decide to do business with him you are not getting a contractor but a partner. You will never have to ever worry about finding a new masonry contractor. Further, as we have restored and remodeled this house, Tony has worked with us along the way. Many of the projects are "steps" in the process and truthfully, minor jobs for him. However, by being flexible in our time frames, he has worked us into his schedule and the work got done. As far as the work, we are closing in former doors, relocating them, enlarging windows, etc. The great part about Tony's company is that his employees are true craftsman. As a result, on a 90 Year old clinker brick home, you wou world never know that the work has just recently been completed. It looks like it has always been there. I highly recommend Tony.

This guy is a joke. He seemed great at first. He was one of the only masonry contractors to get back to me. He seemed professional when I explained how I needed the work done quickly and was completely able to work within the deadline. He said on Monday that he would call sometime that week to schedule an initial evaluation. To my delight, he called on Tuesday and said he was coming. Then, he called back and told me he would have to come Wednesday. I explained that I was selling our house and no longer lived there so I would need a heads up as to when he might be coming. He never called or came on Wednesday, and I spent the entire night in an empty house waiting. When I called him, the first time it rang four times and went to voice mail. The second time, it rang twice, which tells me he saw my call and hit the ignore button. I would not have minded if he rescheduled again, but I needed to know so I could leave the empty house. He never ever called back after that. I cannot believe another human being would treat someone like that - especially since I am a consumer, it's not like I was asking him for a favor!!!

I called R & R Masonry/ Reber Restoration to get an estimate on having 2 of my chimneys swept, & have some exterior repairs done as well. I spoke to a Tony and he told me they do not do chimney sweeps, but that he was going to be in my area later that week and that he would give me a call to set up a time to come over to take a look at my chimneys for the repair work to give me an estimate. So I said ok, and the week went by and I never heard from him. I figured they must not have wanted the business so they didn't bother to call me back. I ended up going with another company I found on Angie's list that was able to do both chimney sweeps & repairs & they were very responsive. I'm sure R & R does a nice job, as they have positive feedback, but unfortunately I was not going to chase them down for my business.

I was extremely pleased with their work, it was outstanding. A tree fell on my house and chimney and I was concerned about the chimney. I had a difficult time finding someone to work on it until I looked on Angie's List. He came out to give me an estimate to replace 6 rows then I took it to the insurance company. The insurance company thought it needed about 3 more rows replaced than R&R said. I let R&R know and they said for $400 they would take out the additional rows and replace them. The insurance company okayed the price. I told them to go ahead with the job. There were 5 men and they arrived on a Saturday morning. They built the scaffold all the way around the chimney, They were very professional and knew exactly what they were doing. As it turns out he had to take out 15 rows of brick and replace most of it, originally he estimated 6. I saw them do that and when he was done I asked him what I owed and he said I owed what we agreed on. He did more than we originally talked about for the same price. It was excellent, a first class job. It is in A-1 condition now.

I called R&R Masonry Restoration on 7/11/2011. Tony came out the same day to look at the problem. The next day I received a quote in the mail for 1100.00. The envelope also contained references and a copy of the declarations page of their insurance. This was very impressive. I called Tony the next day and also asked him if he could clean some brick on my home as there were some marks on my brick. He said he would include it in the price because the area was not too big. On 7/15 Tony called and informed me that they had a cancellation and could come out today. They replaced both lintels and sport cleaned the brick. The next day my neighbors remarked on how nice the brick looked. The mortar abobve the windows where the lintels were replaced matched the existing mortar as well! I could not have been more pleased with the work performed by R&R masonry Restoration.

I called to make an appointment to have R&R come out and evaluate cracks that i had in my home's mortar joints and some bricks. I had recently had the foundation repaired and was now looking to restore the exterior of the home. I called R&R based on the reviews I saw on Angie's List. When i called in, the receptionist took a message and had a representative call be back within about 15 minutes. I explained the situation and he said they would be out within the next day or two to look at the home and would then follow-up with a written estimate. He did say they would call first and I gave them my cellphone number. They never showed-up or called me to reschedule. I find this very unprofessional and was surprised given their previous reviews. Perhaps they felt, based on our conversation, that the work was not extensive enough to warrant their visit. If that were the case i would have preferred that they tell me that up front so that i could continue looking for a company willing to do the work. I would not recommend this company and will never call them again. I unfortunately feel that this type of behavior is far too common with businesses today, and is a waste of everyone's time. If they didn't want my business i wish that they just would have told me so that i could find a quality company that does.
