+ -1 moreTerrible experience, Steve Hoppe charged elder couple for a month's salary while conpleting a weeks worth of work. He did not even stay late, he worked 9-5 M-F for ONE week. Now this family cannot finish the kitchen due to lack of funds. As of this writing there is the old refridgerator-no working well, leaking. There are the old counter tops and the cabinent doors are off because the walls cannot be finished. The money was enough to finish the floor, counter tops and get a working refridgerator but not the kitchan sits unsightly and unfinished due to lack of funds. The have not been able to have friends or family over for events or holidays due to this half a** job.
Description of Work: Kitchen floor approx 12x12 space in kitchen replaced w/ small interior brick design. Cabinents were already in place. Refridgerator needed moved 10 feet to dining room and oven removed so floor could be finished underneath. These tasks themselves were charged by contractor and assistant in addition to overall hourly rate given to helper and contractor. Duplicate charges for numerous items. Flooring bricks were purchased and layed out for proper design by homeowner. This job took 5 days to complete, primarily by contractor alone, only used assistant intermittently, to complete w/ only three trips to local stores for items needed. The contractor Steve Hoppe did not provide elder homeowner with an estimate prior to start of job, not even an estimate was given or discussed as a professionsl contractor should do. This 12x12 floor ended up costing $3600.00 dollars and the flooring was purchased by homeowner. This is a perferct example of elder abuse seen more and more in Western PA due to increasing population.
