The guy would not help me in the paint department, so I just walked out. He was not very helpful. He acted like he didn't not know anything. He did not care to wait on me at all. No one has ever ignored me in a place when I was trying to get help. It was an older gentleman in his 60s. He did not seem very pleasant. I will not be going back to this store.

Subcontract to shady individuals. Fence not installed correctly. Had to practically camp out at Home Depot until they would send a manager out. Manager of Home Depot finally came out with the manager of the fence company. Home Depot manager agreed with me and told the fence manager the fence was not installed properly and to take it down. Fence manager came and took it down and Home Depot refunded my money. The took about 3 months to resolve. Very stressful situation. Home Depot should screen their contractors better. The subcontractors were a real joke. Unprofessional to say the least.

We shopped around and the price offered by Home Depot was $800.00 cheaper than anyone else, so we purchased Quartz countertops through Home Depot with the work being performed by Continental Surfaces. The consultant @ Home Depot was professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. The personnel @ Continental were the opposite with the exception of the first Continental employee who measured our cabinets . The scheduler refused to accommodate our schedule, totally inflexible to the point where my wife had to take 2 days off work to accommodate them! The first time our countertops were measured the problem was on my end because my cabinets were unlevel- my fault. Continental charged me $150.00 to remeasure my cabinets, wasn't happy about this considering I was already paying $4,200- strike one. Continental didn't return for 3 weeks with them telling us what day they would come- strike 2. When the countertops were ready Continental told us what day the install would be instead of accommodating our schedule. The countertops were cut so badly it was laughable. The cutout for our undermount sink was too small, saw marks in the quartz, side splash, back splash, and a shelf cut incorrectly. At this point I'm ready to blow my stack. Too add to the debacle, I had hired a plumber to install everything to do with the sink that evening. so now i had to call him and explain he was out of $300.00 because I didn't need him. Needless to say, the plumber was p***** because he turned down another job to accomplish mine. I called a supervisor at Continental telling him that since they totally screwed up the countertops causing another delay and another day off work I wanted the $150.00 they charged me to come back to measure my cabinets refunded, and I also wanted the $300.00 the plumber wanted for the no show I had to pay refunded as well. The supervisor told me it should be no problem, that he would get back to me. The Continental Surfaces supervisor later called and left a message telling me the plumber was my problem, and he now wasn't sure about the $150.00. Add this to the fact they weren't even sure when they would have the countertops completed- strike 3 Continental is out! I called Home Depot and explained the situation along with my complete distrust of Continental Surfaces. I asked for a total refund of the job. To Home Depots Credit they apologized, offered to have another company perform the work, and the store manger also offered to compensate me for the horrible way Continental Surfaces treated me and my wife. I refused and Home Depot fully refunded me with no strings attached. This blistering review is in no way a reflection on Home Depot. Home Depot was concerned and professional and they will continue to get my business. Continental Surfaces on the other hand was one of the worst businesses I have ever had the misfortune of interacting with in my entire life.
Description of Work: Continental Surfaces through Home Depot was hired to install Quartz countertops.
Home Depot charges straight M.S.R.P. for all their cabinets minus any current promotion that they are currently running. Please do your research. Read the blogs. Cabinets have a huge markup. Approximately 70% or more. Most retailers discount heavily. I found 4 here in the Pittsburgh area that discount 50% or more. 2 of which also sold Kraftmaid. When I asked Home Depot if they would match prices as their advertising states, they do not match prices and get away with it because although the Kraftmaid door styles are the same they give each door style a different name. We all understand that a business needs to make money to stay afloat, however a 70%+ markup is a ripoff.
Description of Work: I was looking to buy Kraftmaid cabinets for a new home. Large kitchen, a large laundry room, 5 vanities. Quote is way high.

After emailing twice and getting no response, I phoned asking that the correct cabinet be shipped two day shipping so that installer would not be delayed. The manager, Erica, informed me that I would need to send a picture before anything would be done. I offered to pay for the new cabinet being sent out and we would straighten everything out afterward. She said she could not do that and she was not interested in receiving the incorrect cabinet back, "just throw it out". I phoned back asking if I could text the picture as I have no email capabilities on my phone, but you guessed it. NO texting received, we can't do anything without a picture. Then I asked for it to be taken off my bill and I would not reorder. NO again, you must call a Home Depot store. I called Home Depot, talked to the cabinet department, front desk and manager. Manager said she would handle and I texted her the picture of the incorrect item. There is now a discount on the items I had ordered, which would save me over $300. I asked that the discount be applied. Store manager called The Home Decorator Collection to discuss and request a discount (remember, The Home Decorator Collection personnel could not assist me telling me to go directly to a Home Depot store). Manager phone back stating that new cabinet will ship tomorrow (my contractor is arriving tomorrow which means an additional cost to ME to have contractor return and finish job when cabinet arrives). In the past two weeks I have spent over $5,000 cash at Home Depot and I will NOT be coming back.
Description of Work: The online kitchen cabinet provider (The Home Decorator Collection) sent the wrong kitchen cabinet.

Person came and measured for countertops with lases. Was very good in asking about our input as to exactly what we wanted as to sink, edges, etc. Was told we would be contacted when the tops were ready and set up installation date. The date was set up and they arrive promply at time they indicated and installed the granite time in about 2 hours. They checked with me couple of times to insure the placement of faucets etc. was correct before doing the final installaiton. When they left the place clean and we were instructed how to care for the tops etc. Before leaving they called the main office and had a person talk to me and make sure everything was as we ordered and that we were satisfied with the job. The 3 man team was very professional and interested in making sure the job was done right. For you info the name of the company doing the installation for Home Depot was Continental Services.

Person answering phone at "Crystal Clear" somewhere in Eastern PA was very abrupt, bordering on rudeness. Virtually insisting on a commitment over the phone before he'd send anyone out to measure & provide an estimate. I made the appointment anyway. Bad decision. Tri-State came to my home & took measurements on May 22nd. Signed contract. Took Deposit. Said usual lag time from contract to installation was approximately 2 weeks. On Wednesday, June 5th, I contacted Joe at Tri-State to find the status of the doors. Joe never answers his phone. Joe returned my call the next day morning (June 6th) at 9:00 AM. Said his dog ate his homework, so to speak, and he had forgotten to call me. He said he lost the measurements and needed to send someone out to re-measure. Said the guy would be here by 1:00 PM. I informed him that I had to leave by 3:00 PM. He said "NO PROBLEM." At 1:45 no one had arrived and I called Joe (he didn't answer) and left a message. He called back at 2:30 and said "his guy" would be here in the next 15 to 20 minutes. I reminded him that I needed to leave by absolutely NO LATER than 3:00 PM. He said "NO PROBLEM." No one showed or called. I left.

They did a fine job in all regards. They came out before they took any money. They did the pre-checks and measured everything and insured that everything would work. Then at that point, once they hit that they came back and gave me a final price estimate. Once I had the estimate and I approved it, and I put the money down on it, they proceeded with the order. So they checked it out before they did the order. When they came here they had everything they needed to do the job.

On October 13th they lasered it with the countertop on. I had wanted corner shelves. When I first called them, they told me they were in. They never ordered my shelves so they refunded me for the shelves. In November 2010, they cut the shelves and set them on. I wanted them all flush with back splash. They figured out how they could On November 30, 2010, they took out part of the back splash out and they broke it. Every time they sent someone out something was not done right. On December 7th, they advised me that the order for the back splash came in. I later spoke with them throughout the month and they got the district manager involved because the two shelves were not right and they wanted to know what was going on. On January, 4, 2011 they called my husband to cancel and they called our home phone asking for the wrong person. On January 5th, they came and took out the rest of the back splash and I noticed a big chunk taken out and they said it was fine. Later, the district manager contacted me that he would be out of town and would have Dan Thorton, another DM, contact me to help me. I contacted Dan Thorton and he advised me that he would be out of town for the work and couldn't’t help me. On January 11th, the president of Continental Services called me, Peter Korowsky, and I told him what was wrong. On January 14th, his guy was set to come out and didn't’t show up, Gary Cloon. He then called and said his car was broken down, okay. On the 17th, I called the district and spoke to Courtney and then on the 18th I spoke with Mike McGovern, the original district manager again. He said that he set up an appointment with a plasterer to come and do work. On January 24th the plasterer sent his retired friend out to do the work for him. I think they sent the plasterer out to shut us up. Gary Cloon finally came out to put the back splash in and we realized that the plasterer (who was supposed to make things smoother on the wall for the back splash) made things worse. On February 1st, Gary Cloon came out to check on things again and they said it was going to be finished by February 15th and this ended up going into March 9th. They then decided that I needed to put tile in the gaps above the back splash. I spoke to Mike McGovern on March 9th and he told me the kind of tile that I chose would not work. On March 21st, their tile specialist came over and said they would have to take the door jamb off to do the work right because they made my wall that bad. On March 26th, I spoke to them again and they said that they would have my tile guy do the estimate. My tile guy came out in March and gave me an estimate of $750.00 for him to fix the tile plus the cost of the tile (which came to $1300). I waited for them to confirm that I could use this tile person to do the work and it ended up being approved on May 2nd. On May 16th, I was told by an assistant manager of Home Depot that the check for the tile would take no longer than two weeks. On May 30th I had no check and I contacted them and they advised me that it was mailed out and that they would have to investigate it. I told them that they would have to do their investigation with the post office. On June 14th I went up to the Home Depot and picked up my check and I shopped around for tile. I found what I wanted and ordered the tile on July 18th. I ended up speaking to Candace from the district office on August 8th to see what Home Depot could do for me since this process was taking so long and she advised me that they would call me back and she called me at work on my cell and I never got to talk to her. Now, on September 3rd, they had called my cell phone again and I am not sure if I spoke to them. Over this entire time period I spoke to Courtney, Andrea, Candace, and Mamie. On October 18th, I was told that Candace would call me and she did. Last week, the first week in November, I spoke with them again and she said she would contact me to do a conference call. They ended up offering me $250.00 when I had originally asked them to take the countertops out because I was not happy with the service. I just felt like they kept passing the buck. My husband took off time from work and they never showed up. They kept saying that I was going to have it done for each holiday, it was just bad.

Perhaps Home Depot now has dedicated employees who do this work, but at the time of our installation, they were using sub-contractors (we were not told that when we ordered). It was a large, square room, simple installation, and we thought the price was good and the quality was excellent. However, the trouble started on the first of what would be three days of installation (we weren't told that either)! The end result is good carpet that was very poorly installed with a visible seam and ripples in several areas of the room. More than one post-installation visit took place but nothing was resolved and one tear (in a corner of a tiled entryway) was actually made worse and more noticable by their "repair". We made multiple attempts to get Home Depot to take care of this carpet within the first year. I would strongly advise that you know who is going to be doing your installation. These installers ruined our carpet.
Description of Work: We purchased very good quality carpet and padding from Home Depot and scheduled the installation. The room is large, and we did the removal of the old carpet.

After checking several stores I felt that the best price/option combination was at Home Depot. I was told that the carpet would take three weeks (from the order date) to be sent to the installer, and approximately one week to schedule and install. In fact it took less than two weeks from date of order to install. Home Depot and their installation company kept in constant communication with me via phone calls and emails. The installers gave me a 4 hour window to arrive, and came about 15 minutes early. The installation went very well, the carpet looks great. Seams cannot be seen in the individual rooms, and the seam in which the two color carpets meet is very straight. I had a change during the install (I wanted the Hollywood style installed on the stairs rather than the Waterfall style); I called Home Depot and the change was made on the spot. I am very happy with the entire experience. If there were any negatives they were as follows: 1) The installers did not speak clear english, so it was hard to understand what they were telling me. Please note that they were very nice, polite, and did an excellent job. However, when I asked any questions it was hard to understand their answers. 2) The installers did not really go over the job with me. As I had previous experience with carpet installation I knew what they were doing. However if I were a novice they did not explain much to me. Their procedures state that they would go over the entire project with me in advance of the install, but they did not. 3) They did not clean up completely after the job was completed. If I were to give it a grade it would be a B+. There were stray pieces of carpet fibers that I needed to clean up after the job was completed. They did vaccum after they were done, but could have been a bit more thorough, All in all I am very happy with the overall project, and would not hesitate to use them again for carpet installation.

We purchased the "Vangura" type manufactured countertops for two sinks in a bathroom remodel. Picked Home Depot because they were about $300 cheaper than local kitchen designer's price. Was a little nervous because was using a "big box" for this but am so glad we did. They called promptly to have measurements, came when they were supposed to, installed when they were supposed to and did a great job. Also called for follow up to ensure that we were happy with everything. We didn't have any seams to deal with or anything so I think it was an easy install but would still recommend them for future work.

I had my handyman come with me to pick out the type of granite countertop I was going to need for my kitchen. The men at the store were very helpful and I then set up a time for them to come out and install the new piece. They came right out later that week and the quality job they did was fantastic. I would highly recommend this store for their price and their quality, and will use them again.

Carpet was a good buy for the price. Padding was excellent. Installation was on time, and they were concerned about neatness. The crew moved my furniture and then put it back. They cleaned up after themselves and were neat during the job. After the carpet was installed, spots were found by installers. This was resolved by Home Depot with no hassle to me.
Description of Work: I compared carpet at 3 stores. For the money, I felt that that Home Depot had the best deal. When I went to purchase the carpet, I stated I had a very fixed budget and could not go over it. They were willing to work within my budget. As a matter of fact, they did the layout twice so that we could stay within the budget. I ended up purchasing the carpet after the sale was over, and they still gave me the sale price. In addition, a new promotion giving free padding was given to me as well.
