Another company could not clear our line and return with required equipment in a timely manner. We called Beverly Services and they came that day. They jetted the main line from house to the street and ran a camera following jetter. They also jetted from the floor drain to the cleanout and was able to obtain some water flow, but there was still a blockage in the house somewhere. They approx. an hour and half and could not clear the line. The next day, a different technician, Bernine returned with a helper. He also jetted from house to main and ran a camera to look for blockage, but was not successful. His final attempt, he managed to feed the jetter backwards from the house trap back to the house and was able to open the blockage. We applaud Bernine for his willingness to try everything he could to find our problem. In the end, he recommended we convert to a different toilet tissue that would dissolve better. We took his advise and have not had a problem since. :)

Furnace fan stopped blowing. It was diagnosed as needing a new blower fan, which the technician replaced in under an hour. Professional service. A little pricey, but would hire again.
Description of Work: Installed new blower motor (~$464); also had an automatic diagnostic fee (~$80) for coming out to look at the old furnace.

The tenants reported that their representative on site was prompt, polite and professional. They took care of the problem quickly and no more leaks downstairs. I would recommend using this provider. (This was a home warranty call, which accounts for the price we paid is our flat rate for a call).

They came 3 times, first to diagnose, the next day, Thursday, they had to replace the piping because it was corroded. They removed the damper, and charged me $55 to rewire everything and the problem still wasn't fixed. On Friday, I spoke with a man about how to fix it, he said every time the vent would come on I would have to go down and flip the switch to get it to turn the boiler. This went on all night Friday night. I put an emergency call in on Saturday to have him back and he wanted to send a different tech who came in and replaced the ignition module, which was the original problem. The problem was not even related to the part he took off. Now I'm worried it will void the warranty having that part off.
Description of Work: They replaced piping, removed the damper, rewired, and replaced the ignition module.

Please see above. Thanks! Update 6-30-13 We do have a working unit and are please but our opinion of a "average" company has not changed! The part taking 6 months to be install on a new unit was only one issue.
Description of Work: We had a house fire on May 7th 2012 after a lightning strike. We hired Beverly to put in duct work and two high end heating and cooling units as we rebuild our home. They were very attentive and mostly did good work, at least until payment was made. During the install the workers were polite and pleasant. With only a few "small" issues i.e.; We hate smoking and they did have a hard time not smoking around our garage where we were partially living and storing clothing, and other household items etc.. I stayed on site when they were working to keep our many dogs out of the way of the work but yet one of the workers went in the dog area without my knowledge walking on top of the dog crates, bending several. Every evening I think of him as I struggle to latch the crates. It was unnecessary, it would have taken 2 minutes to move the dog and a few crates. There were other small things of course, there will always be some things, that's just the way things are even in the best of situations. I marked off "yes" we would hire them again. There isn't a "maybe" to mark. We would need to have lots of things settled up front before I would rehire them. We chose them in part because of the Angie's list rating. I believed we were hiring an above average company and what we experienced was very average. Just today!!!! the air cleaner on our downstairs unit is working. First time it's worked! They had to order new parts, wrong part first and it took months between attempts to repair our new unit. Just a few days shy of 6 months. IF this had gone over 6 months I was going to give them a "failed" rating. I've been waiting for our unit to work before rating. The technician that was to tweak the unit right after the install in September, stood me up several days without calling and was over 3 weeks before he came. Then he complained we were too far out of his region. IF we are too far out, then why sell us units that would be hard to get serviced? I wish we could give a glowing report…we did in the beginning to friends and neighbors…we were very pleased….the little things we were very willing to over look, but as phone calls were not returned, then the lots of little things start adding up and then the service issues, well, we are not as happy as I hoped we would be. :( Update on March 13th, 2013. James from Beverly brought out our remaining floor vents and he was very apologetic and offered to try to repair the dog crates. Most of the employees at Beverly have been very professional, polite and considerate. James was no exception. I appreciate the kindness he showed. It's unfortunate that where they let the ball drop, it dropped hard. Even after we returned the report card/survey they sent; we requested to talk to management and we didn't get a call from that request either or many phone messages. I wish I could change the scores but I truly think they are fair and rated on a generous side. NOT because of the small issues or the majority of the employees but for the few that were unprofessional, the areas that were long in resolving and the lack of returned calls.

In September of 2012 my sanitary sewer backed up and when I called the plumber I normally use, he was unable to fit me into his schedule. After reading the reviewes I decided to call Beverly Services, and left the information for what I needed with the scheduler who answered the phone. I was quite surprised to receive a call back in 30 mnutes from a repair man, telling me that he could arrive at my house within the hour. The technician was so knowledgeable and helpful and I was impressed with his responsiveness, professionalism, and with the service and the price for the repair. As a result of that experience, I scheduled my yearly furnace cleaning and maintenance through Beverly Services and was again totally satisfied with that service call as well. I would highly recommend this provider.

Furnace stopped working on a Saturday, my regular hvac serviceman wasn't available, so I called Beverly. A repairman was at my home within 2 hours, spent about 1/2 hour before declaring the control board defective. He stated that he didn't have one on his truck, and would find me one by the next day. The charge for this visit was $79. He called the next morning, and arrived before noon with a replacement part. He installed this within a half hour, and the charge for the part and installation was $540. This seemed excessive to me as I found t he part online for $119. when the Beverly office called the next day to verify that I had received service I asked if that parts price was indeed accurate, and they said it was. The service was great, the price was excessive.

I got an estimate for some electrical work. They showed up on time, answered my questions and were very professional. However, their costs were significantly more (almost double) than 3 other estimates I received so I did not use them. The work was for an outside outlet, a 220 line for an electric dryer, and replacement of a closet light. I would definitely try them again for other services but not for electrical.

My furnace wasn't' working properly. I called, and an appointment was set. The day before the appointment, I called to cancel because the furnace was behaving normally, again. Several days later, I had to call, again, because the furnace was, once more, not behaving. Another appointment was set for the following day between noon and 4:00 pm. At 3:50 pm of the day of the appointment, I called and w as told that the serviceman had been held up at a prior appointment, but that he was definitely going to come, that he would call before he headed over to my house. I never received a call, and he didn't show. I called at about 6:30 pm and left a message, saying that no one had come and that I would appreciate a call from them. They never called. That was on a Friday night, so I really didn't expect a call until Monday morning.(Although it now seems to me that they should have called, even over the weekend, because a furnace not working in the winter is not a thing to ignore.) In any event, they never called at all.

They came back for the second time because they had not fixed the whole problem. It came out real nice. They got the work done. It has been good since they had been here. The service and clean up was great. That was my favorite part of what they did as far as taking care of everything and making sure that there was no mess left. They reasonably knew what they were doing, and they were outstanding. The people I dealt with were fine; they were professional.

We have American Home Shield and called them about a leaky water valve that happened after a previous contractor installed a new water heater. Beverly Service was the one that was chosen by AHS. They called to schedule an appointment and worked with my wife's schedule to make an appointment. They showed up early after calling beforehand to let us know they would be early and replaced the leaky valve. AHS has sent them in the past for various issues (plumbing, electrical, and HVAC) and they have always done a great job!

Jim arrived on time and explained exactly what would be done. He was misinformed about the extent of the work and the time it would require, but he called his office and arranged to have the work done as promised. We were very happy with the work and the cleanup and condition he left the work area. Price seemed a little steep but well worth it.

We had 3 people come out and give estimates. The person from Beverly was thorough and explained things better than the other companies. He explained that, when the heat is on, the fan should be as well. He also took his time and explained the contract. The contractors who came to install everything were very nice. One of the installers was a veteran and was a pleasure to have in my home. The only reason that I gave them an overall “B” is because they drop off the contract, but I physically had to drive the contract to the office. Everything was great with that one exception.

Wow, am I glad I went to Beverly for a second opinion. Earlier today, a technician from a different company red-tagged my furnace; that is, he identified a crack in the heat exchanger, shut off the gas and pressed me to buy a new furnace at a cost of $6,000-$10,000. Fortunately, a Beverly technician was able and willing to add more service call at the end of his workday, and guess what? There's no crack, and the furnace, while old, is perfectly safe and could last another 20 years. Plus, Beverly's prices for a new furnace range from $2,700 to $4,500. Let this be a lesson to me: check Angie's List first. If I'd looked, I'd have seen that the other company gets mostly failing grades, while Beverly earns mostly A ratings. Too bad I got taken in bya lowball Groupon offer; it cost me time and money.

On a Sunday morning, my husband and I discovered a large puddle on the floor surrounding our hot water heater. We suspected it was on its last legs because we have lived in our house for 17 years and have never replaced it. We soaked up the water with rags and put a phone call into Beverly Services' answering service (it was a Sunday). (My neighbor recommended Beverly Services, plus I checked them out on Angie's List and saw that they got "A" ratings. The answering service took my information and said that someone would call me back shortly. Frank, who was on call for Beverly Services, called me back and asked me the necessary questions. He answered my questions professionally and competently. He was able to give me an estimate over the phone. He told me that he had an emergency situation ahead of mine, and was on his way to that customer, but would call me later to let me know when he would be able to get to my job. He called as promised and came over. He confirmed that our hot water heater had broken and did all the work necessary to remove the old heater and replace it with a new one. Frank was just the kind of repairman one hopes for: responsible, knowledgeable, competent, polite and neat. I highly recommend Frank and Beverly Services.

They were on-time and very courteous. He was very clean and wouldn't wear his shoes on the rug. He explained how to fix the problems during the first repair. He even went out of his way to go down to Murraysvill to get the proper parts and would setup another day to properly fix another in-the-wall problem that I have.

noBeverly Heating and Cooling showed up and looked at a three year old air conditioning unit that wasn't dispensing cold air. The service man came out, did a diagnostic test. The pipes in the air conditioning unit were clogged and that was preventing the cold air to flow through. The service man unclogged the pipes and changed the filter for over $400.00. The service man also asked to perform a leak test. When asked how much that would cost he said another $300.00. We told him no way!!! After paying the $400.00. I called Beverly Heating and Cooling to complain about the price and how I thought it was way too high. I spoke to Brian Jackson. He said he would get back to me and of course never did. So, I called him again 6 days later to see if he reviewed my invoice. He said that the price was in line and he would not be reimbursing us. To clean pipes and change a filter you can buy at home depot this price was way too high and I will not use them again.
Description of Work: My three year old air conditioning was not working properly. A called was made to Beverly Heating and Cooling to come out to look at the problem.

I was very, very pleased with the service provided. I called in the evening.during the heat of this summer My call was answered promptly. The service call was scheduled for the next day. The technician called before he came and arrived on time. He assessed the problem and worked quickly. He was proficient and friendly. He worked to get the problem corrected in less than an hour. When making out the bill, he asked if we had a phone book which had a $25 discount coupon. I thought this to be very kind and condiderate. I would highly reccomend their services and would definitely call them in the future if I had any problems with my air conditioning or heating.

We had been having trouble with my daughter's air conditioning system for approx a year. The landlord had several different heating and cooling services come to her town house and not one of these companies had been able to locate or fix the problem. I live almost two hours away and she works so it was very difficult for someone to be there to meet the service people when they could be there and they were not always on time, some were up to three hours after the appointed time. Yesterday the appointment was for 11:00 in the morning. They were very prompt and called to make sure I had arrived so there was someone there to let them in. Lou K*****, the Senior Service Technician, listened while I explained the problem and stated he would find out what exactly what was causing the lack of heat and air. Honestly, it took him less than 5 minutes and the thing was fixed, the man is a genius! After an entire year with very little heat in the winter and no air in the summer the man solved the problem in less than 5 minutes? If this is any indication of how their techs work I would hire them for any job in their field! Extremely pleased. Thank you Lou and Beverly Services for a job well done.

Our AC unit is covered under our home warranty and Beverly Services were the contractors our warranty company dealt with. Our appointment was intially set for the following day, but the lady I spoke to on the phone called back within 5 minutes saying they had a cancellation so a technician could come by today. Our technician, Chris, arrived within 30 minutes and explained to us how an AC unit works and how often it should be checked and whatnot. He was friendly and seemed knowledgable in his work. Chris explained to us that the normal protocol is to come back in 2 days if the pipes were frozen, but since we were in the middle of a heat wave of 90+ degree weather, he instead cranked up the heat in our house to help with the defrosting process. He then did what he needed to get our AC back to working order. There were no suprises with the cost of service. Our home warranty charged a $50 service call fee, plus any parts needed for repairs - in our case, the filter (not covered by the warranty) was $49.95. (Chris did tell us Beverly's fee for a tech guy to come out to diagnose a problem is $79.)
Description of Work: AC unit was inspected; some kind of fluid in the system was refilled and the filter changed.

I am absolutely satisfied with their services. They sent out two install crews to ensure I had my ac working that day. Extremely knowledgable staff.They had the best prices and warranty. I will use them to install my furnace too. I highly recommend Beverly. UPDATE! Since Beverly services installed my new central air unit my house has been so comfortable. it out performs the one they replaced. my electric bill has SIGNIFICANTLY dropped. I recommend using the Carrier comfort series central air units. We have had a severe heatwave here in Pittsburgh, as much of the country has, and this ac performs FLAWLESSLY! our old central air unit would not have been able to cool the house during 90 degree + weather. Don't hesitate to use Beverly Services and Carrier Products.
