They were very professional and helpful throughout this process and did not try and upsell us from the service that we purchased. We did ask them to do some additional work in determining load capacities and load use in each panel which was in addition to the package that we bought. We were very pleased at what they accomplished. They did order the additional surge protector for the remaining panel as they did not have one and that took some time to get it. We finally called them after a few weeks and the first time it hadn't still arrived but the second time we called, a week later, it had come in but they hadn't called us to reschedule and get it in. A very minor point which is why the B on responsiveness but I am still very much pleased with their work. We will definitely use them again.
Description of Work: We bought the service to inspect the whole house electrical panels and install a surge protector if necessary. When they came out they were very professional and found out that we had two main services panels in the house and one already had a surge protector. The ordered a protector of the one that did not have it and inspected the rest. We spent 80.00 extra in determine actual load capability and use in each panel which they did.

Failed to stand behind their work!
Description of Work: Air Conditioner required another new compressor after two other had been replaced The installations were faulty and they would not stand behind their crappy work. Just got tired of fighting with them and don't have time. I think im going to sue so at least they will spend legal fees to defend scam artist. Their mechanics don't know what they are doing because if they did the compressors would not have blown up. THEY ARE CRAP!

The [member name removed] system was installed by a different contractor in 2006, not by Beverly Services. The homeowners decided to contact us when the company that installed the equipment stopped replying to their calls for service. Beverly Services went out in September of 2009 and diagnosed a bad compressor. At that point it was discovered the extended ten year parts and labor warranty the homeowners paid the installing company for had never actually been purchased through the manufacturer, so it was not valid and we could not honor it. We installed a new compressor under the standard manufacturers five year parts warranty, but the homeowner had to pay for our labor. The next year the compressor went bad again. Beverly Services responded immediately to the homeowners calls for service and we replaced the compressor for free because here at Beverly Services we warranty our repair work for one year. Now their compressor failed again. Since it has been three years since the last replacement, we would not replace the compressor for free again. This falls far outside of our one year warranty. We also contacted the manufacturer to try and get them another replacement compressor under warranty, but the manufacturer declined. I understand the [member name removed] frustration. If the company that originally installed their equipment had purchased the extended warranty they paid for all of their repairs would have been covered. We have given quotes to the [member name removed] to replace the compressor again or to replace the entire system and offered them a discount on both options, but they have declined. Our A/C was out during some very hot weather. They came out same day which was great ($80 trip charge), but had to order a part. While the service tech was professional, it was a quick fix.... with a huge bill! After we hearing other estimates we realized we were greatly OVERCHARGED. I called to discuss and they insisted they stand by their prices and that they should of actually charged us an additional fee for them to come back out and fix it. Really feel we were taken advantage of since we were in an emergency situation w/o air during very hot time. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Normally we can use a universal replacement part to repair a furnace and are able to get the homeowner up and running the same day however with the way the part we needed to replace was mounted in the unit [member name removed] required a direct replacement part that we needed to order and have shipped in from the manufacturer. This is what caused both the delay in getting in getting [member name removed] fixed and also caused the price to be a little higher then if we would have been able to use a universal replacement part. He could have easily put in a new motor, as the one in the furnace was seized up. However, he spent a few minutes freeing it up and oiling it and it's been working fine ever since. The motor actually was not working, but the tech knew that particular model could be oiled even though it was made as a throwaway version. So, bottom line, he saved me a few hundred dollars over the cost of a new one. That's something you don't see everyday. A previous company had looked at the same motor and told me it would cost $1200 to fix. I won't mention their name here, but I'm very glad I got the second opinion and had Beverly Services out.

Called to make appointment, left message. They called a little later to set up appointment. I was not asked anything other than to verify I was calling about air conditioner. I was not asked make/model,etc. I asked about the discount and was told to pay for it online, which I did. When repairman came, he asked if I made appointment about window unit he could see at front of house. I said yes. I was then told they didn't service window units. I told repairman that I wasn't asked what kind of a/c it was and that their web sight did not specify that they didn't work on window units and what was I supposed to do now. He said he didn't know. Then said they cared a lot about their Angie's List rating and he would look at it. Repairman came into house and plugged unit in, turned it on, and heard it squeal. Called the office to ask why he was sent for window unit since they didn't work on them. He also said I probably got a new hire that didn't remember they didn't do window units. Repairman never took a tool to the unit and made no attempt to open it at any time to even check about the fanbelt or motor. He told me that it would cost more to fix unit than to buy a new one. Said that office person would talk to owner and get back to me next day. Got call about 24 hours later saying they called everywhere looking for parts but was told unit was obsolete and couldn't get parts. I asked for my $59 back and was told she would check with owner. Office person called back and said the $59 was for diagnostic and repairman did that. Repairman did no such thing!!! How can you do a diagnostic without even opening the unit? Office person stated that I paid Angie's List so I had to try and get my money back from them.
Description of Work: Nothing. Repairman came to house and his first words out of his mouth were "Is that your window A/C unit, because we don't service window units?" He started to walk back to vehicle and then said basically that why didn't I get whole house a/c he could help me with that.

[Member name removed] has a window unit, which we normally do not work on. We were not aware of this fact before we sent out one of our service technicians. The dispatcher [member name removed] spoke with when she set up her appoitment has been with our company for over 5 years so I am sure [member name removed] did not inform us she had a window unit when her appointment was scheduled. Although we do not work on window units as I previously stated we did look at the unit to see if there was anything we could do to help her. In listening to her unit attempt to run our service technician could tell the bearings were worn out in her motor and it needed to be replaced. Our parts department spent several hours the next day trying to track down the motor [member's name removed] unit required, but the parts are not available. I personally called [member name removed] to apologize and inform her of the situation and unfortunately she was not satisfied with all the labor that we dedicated to go above and beyond trying to repair a unit we do not normally work on. I currently have a call into [member name removed] to see if there is anything we can do to try and make her happy, but I have yet to hear back from her. They were way more expensive than anybody else that I talked to. They also did not tell me about the $750 federal rebate which the other guy told me about and when I called them back to ask them why, he said he didn't think it was in effect anymore. So I was not impressed with Beverly whatsoever.

We also have exceptional follow up services if needed including 24 hour emergency service with live operator support so you will always be speaking with a live person, never a machine. Unfortunately you do end up paying a little more for quality and the peace of mind that comes with using a company you can trust to stand behind their product . Regarding the federal rebate, I apologize for the confusion, but had (removed member name) decided to use Beverly Services our accounting department would have caught the error when reviewing the contract and made sure the homeowner received the appropriate paperwork for his rebate. I was satisfied with them. I felt he was very thorough. He explained a lot. I wanted him to do a water dye test on the down spouts. He went and checked all around everywhere. I live in a townhouse and they have a drainage/sewer down further and he walked way down and checked that. I was very satisfied.

Beverly Services were excellent. I would definitely use them again. I just needed an air-conditioning check up, they changed everything out and there was just the basic charge, they didn't find anything wrong. He cleaned outside, the unit, he had to wash that down inside out, we didn't do that for like six years, we just left that, so he put in a new filter so I thought that it was very reasonable. They were very prompt, when they said they were coming, the gentleman that was here, he is very nice, very quick and they are very professional.

We couldn't be happier with Beverly. An appointment was set up for the day following initial contact and two days later we had a new air conditioner installed. They relocated the unit for improved performance, completed the job in the evenings, fixed an issue with our furnace exhaust pipe (it wasn't sealed), and corrected an initial billing mistake in our favor. They were professional and the new unit works great. We would recommend them to others without hesitation.

Very Professional. Listens and accomodates. She will use whatever pressure you need. I have intense pain in my neck and shoulders (arthritis, no cartilage, bone spur). I asked her to spend the entire time in that area, and then customized the message with the pressure needed. She sets everything up, with everything a spa has (sheets, choice of oils, music, etc.) She responds if you want to talk, but otherwise she is just concentrating on what she is doing. She does not allow any help lugging the equipment. What is there not to like? Convenience, price (I am sorry, the amount is not acurate - I procrastinated over a year to evaluate. Date and amount are guesses, plus I had a groupon), service,and a perfect message. USE HER!

This was a call from one of the home warranty companies that we work with. The customer called for two water leaks and slow drains on one call which is against the home warranty's policy. Regardless we fixed their two different leaks and assessed the slow drain situation. Because the piping in the house was very old galvanized piping we recommended an alternative to snaking the pipes and potentially damaging them. I use them because of their legacy where they have installed similar furnaces with the same style in my apartment before. Their price was very fair and the install time went pretty well. The last time when they serviced my furnace by replacing a blade fuse on the control board of the furnace, it blew out a couple of months later. I felt that they should have been more concerned about why the fuse blew but instead they said that they did not do anything to cause the fuse to blow. They were pretty fast in responding and came out on time.
Description of Work: I used Beverly Services a couple of times for heating and air conditioning. They performed installation and servicing at a property I had purchased. They have also installed a furnace for me and I last used them to service it.

They were excellent on the small jobs but I think the big jobs were a little confusing to them. But no damage was done. They were perfectly nice people. I think they are better with the small jobs. We have spoken to the man who came out about our central air system and requested a couple of plans, which I think was too much for him. I would not hold that against him. He was a very nice man. He was confident in what he was doing but probably not with big big big jobs. The price for the service was also fairly reasonable. He was highly personable. He had a quick appearance on the job and persistent dedication to trying to fix the furnace. It may have been simply that nobody could fix it. It was not completely fixed but he came back several times and gave us a reduced price for repeated visits. So, I would recommend them.
