Purchased our house in 2003, had the roof replaced due to storm damage and a leak in our attic in 2004. Not long after the roof was replaced I was in the attic and noticed that water was soaking the wood around where the roof and chimney met. For the next 8 years we had the roof and chimney worked on multiple times by multiple roofers and chimney repairers and still had water soaking the wood. As time went on it was getting worse, we even called in a specialist to a**** the problem. On the specialists recommendations we first tried the less expensive roof repair again -which didn't work, and then we focused on the chimney. After getting estimates that ranged from $2,500 to $10,000 plus to do the chimney repair, we had a neighbor recommend Young's Masonry. Roger Young came out and gave us a detailed, professional looking, extremely reasonable estimate and we hired him to do the work. The workmen came out when scheduled, set up scaffolding, informed us that the past work that was done on the chimney was done incorrectly, repaired my and quot;chronic 8 year nightmareand quot; leak, and then cleaned and sealed the chimney so well that it almost sparkled. It has now been 8 months since the repair and still no leak. Young's Masonry did a fantastic job! I couldn't recommend them any higher. (Update) October 2013 - Attic area still dry and leak free.
Description of Work: Chronic "8 year" problem with water leaking where our chimney joins the roof, that no one could seem to resolve. Chimney was re-pointed, chimney cap was replaced, entire chimney was cleaned and sealed. Leak is now history!
