Description of Work: I hired Romano Roofing to reshingle my mansard roof and pent roof over the garage. I heard from someone immediately after placing the appointment request on Angie's and the estimator came out a couple days later, on a Saturday I might add. I got 3 additional estimates and it turned out that all 4 were for the same amount. Since price could not be a deciding factor, I selected Romano because of their responsiveness and also their proposal was extremely comprehensive, which I really liked. Also, they accept credit cards, which was a lifesaver since this was really an unexpected expense that I was not prepared for at the time. Once an appointment was set up they arrived on time, laid down tarps all over the place, got to work and worked until the job was done. They were quick and efficient and cleaned up as if they were never there. Somehow a window screen under one of the areas where they were working was badly torn. I'm just guessing but I think perhaps when they were removing the old shingles maybe the corner of one of them caught on the screen and ripped through it. When I brought it to the foreman's attention without batting an eye he immediately whisked it away and was back with the repaired screen in no time. All in all I had a very positive experience with Romano Roofing and was very happy that I selected them. Although I hope I never need it, I also got the impression that their customer support would be very good, which is important if you ever do need it. And my new shingles look great!

Description of Work: Jay Hogan was the estimator that came out to look at my mom's roof and quoted us a price of 900.00 for barge board replacement. While inspecting the barge board, he noticed the chimney needed repair, took pictures and referred us to an excellent chimney guy. Romano did not get a chance to perform the work because they did not have the resources at that time. Excellent customer service!!! Very responsive!!!

I called this member because our schedule was delayed due to bad weather. The estimate was for replacing a fallen downspout in the back yard. I knocked on her door and no one answered. I walked around to the back of the house via the common walkway on the side of the house and saw the problem. I called this member on 5 separate occasions to go over estimate. I did not hear back so i emailed the estimate and did not hear anything back. -J

I noticed a leak in the upstairs bathroom ceiling during a storm. Jay from Romano Roofing was out the next day to look at my roof and was able to temporarily repair the leak for me. While Jay was there he told me my roof was in bad shape (which i was not surprised about) and provided me a quote right on the phone. Given the size and potential cost of the job i reached out to 4 other vendors for quotes and no one came close to Romano Roofing's quote. When i compared what Romano Roofing was doing from materials used to the work being done, it was identical or better than other quotes. I chose Romano Roofing and Jay had the job scheduled and the work was done when promised and i am very happy with the work. I had some follow up questions and Jay was extremely timely and helpful in responding to my questions. I have recommended Romano Roofing to friends based on my experience.

The same day I called they dropped off a package of shingles and a few extra ... at no cost. We were very pleased with the whole roofing experience back in 2012 but are even more pleased with this kind of service and response.
Description of Work: Romano put a new roof on our house back in 2012 but we needed a few more shingles to match a small roof that would go over our new picture window to be installed next week.

Arrived on time, workers were professional and friendly. Listened to what I told them, and asked me if they had any questions. Did an excellent job, cleaned up when finished. From the first contact, everyone was personable and professional. Mary set a quick appointment for the estimate, and Jay was early to our appointment. I would absolutely recommend them.
Description of Work: They replaced 12-15 shingles that had blown off the highest peak of my 3story Victorian home. Also replaced damaged gutters in two locations, and reattached downspouts. Identified and sealed a leak in a third gutter.

Romano Roofing did a wonderful job. They ripped up our old roof and deck, and replaced it with a smooth rubber membrane, which was then topped with a silver coating. Underneath, they laid down insulation and a base coat, and installed 4 vents. They replaced the old deck with a TREX composite floating deck that has solar lights in the PVC railings, They also coated the stucco on the pilot house to prevent water from seeping in, installed copper flashing and counter-flashing, and caulked all around the door leading up to the roof. They replaced the shingles on the roof of the pilot house, replaced the gutter with a drain box, and replaced the existing downspout. They threaded a trace wire into the down spout. The wire heats up when plugged in (on our back patio) so that when there is a lot of snow and it intermittently thaws and freezes, the trace wire will prevent water draining in the down spout from freezing up, which can cause ice dams that could damage the roof. The guys from Romano - Greg, Ferdie, Mark and Oscar - were hard working, professional, clean and extremely courteous. Whenever I went up there to check things out, they were always willing to fill me in on what they were doing, and any issues that came up. They had to move the air conditioning compressor and somehow one of the lines could not be reconnected. They spent 3 hours up on the roof in the rain, putting in a new line. The AC now works perfectly. I was thrilled with their service. They also lugged bulky deck furniture back onto the roof deck when it was finished, and did a very impressive cleanup job. Jay Hogan is the owner and guy who came over to do the work estimate and pricing. He gave us a 15 year labor and materials warranty, on the condition that we contract with them to do regular roof maintenance every 3-5 years. Jay stopped by every day to check out the work in progress, and let me know everything that was going on. Mary in the office was extremely responsive and followed up on everything we requested. I would highly recommend Romano Roofing to anyone considering a new roof.

Romano Roofing installed a brand new roof. We have a large flat roof that's a little more complicated than most. They had to build a ramp to let the water flow properly. After the first major rainfall, we did experience a leak but they came immediately to repair. This happened twice. And both times, their response was incredible. I did let them know how frustrated I was getting that my brand new roof was leaking. They came back and did some major repairs. I haven't had any leaks since.

I don't even know where to begin, other than to say you get what you pay for. I am a woman and I wanted a leak fixed in my living room. I went online and found a website for Romano Roofing stating it was a family owned business for twenty years. I called and Jay came to the house. He's about 30 something, I thought he was the salesman. He wasn't dressed like he worked all day and never looked at the leak or went on top of the roof to look at the roof. He stood outside and told me that I needed all new shingles. His price was appealing, $3050 for a cape cod. I gave him a check and did not finance it. I paid for the roof, not my husband. Then the nightmare began. He brought a crew of three guys. One in his forties who was the main worker and two young guys, early twenties who never went on the roof. It was July and a hot week. It took the one worker, two weeks to replace the shingles and give me a new roof. He didn't pull up the plywood on the entire roof only the area where I told him it was leaking. There was no dumpster so nails and shingles were all over my property around the house. All of my gutters were damaged from the ladder and a couple of window were cracked. Jay did replace the windows and replaced the gutters but, the gutters were not put on correctly and water was running down the side of the house and into my basement so I had to call him back to fix that. My husband was lending the guys tools to complete the job believe it or not. In fact, the roof leaked even worse than before he fixed it! I was in tears. I had to call a chimney guy to finally open the inside ceiling to look in the attic and find where the problem was and he said, it was not my chimney it was a shoddy roof and flashing job. The chimney guy told me that the roofers damaged the chimney by hammering nails into it to attach the flashing but, the chiminey is not the cause of the leak. Jay has tried to tell me that "it might by my chimney". If I listened to him I would be paying more money for chimney work that doesn't need to be done. That chimney guy crawled around my attic to inspect where the leaki was coming from which was so much more than Jay did. I called Jay back after getting four other opinions from roofers and chimney experts. I asked him for my money back because my roof was leaking in areas that it never leaked before. Jay came back to my house approximately eight times after he put that roof on. Jay sat in my living room and asked for another opportunity to make it right. I didn't know what to do. He promised and signed a contract stating that he would give me my money back if he did not fix the problem. He actually brought a totally different crew to the house and they ripped up the old plywood this time and the "new" shingles and replaced the whole thing. I left the living room celing open so that I could be sure that the leak was fixed and low and behold, it still leaked. I have a contract that said he would give me my money back if the roof is not repaired. He is not honoring that jcontract and thinks I should allow him to come back once again and look at the roof. I cannot in all good conscience let him return. I was able to find a roofer who came to look at the roof and patched the flashing. If I continue to have a problem I will call this experienced roofer to make the repairs. Jay's website still says Romano is a family run business for over 20 years. His last name is not Romano and he hasn't had this business for twenty years. I was misled by this website that he purchased from the previous owner..
Description of Work: There was a leak in my living room and I called Romano Roofing to give me an estimate. I paid $3050 for the job. Jay lost money on this job because he had to rip off the first roof he put on my house due to shoddy work. He then redid the job; my mistake was giving him another chance.

We orignally priced this job at $3600 for [member name removed]. She explained that she would really appreciate a discount so we extended her a $550 off of the job. The price was to replace existing shingles. We completed the work and there was still a leak in the chimney/roof area. [member name removed] also showed me some wood around the chimney in the attic area that was questionable that I felt my crew should have replaced. I let our foreman go because of this.Instead of replacing just this section of wood and affecting the integrity of the brand new roof, I offered to dispose of the new roof and redeck the entire roof (1/2" CDX Plywood) for no charge. A redeck of this home costs $1800 (no charge). I also upgraded the flashings around the chimney from aluminum to copper for no charge, usually a $500 upgrade. After the roof was reinstalled [member name removed] called me and said she still heard some dripping in the chimney. I came back and decided to repair the crown on the top of the chimney and also install a chimney cap at no extra charge (normally $850 to do) to correct the problem. I followed up with [member name removed] one month later and she said "so far so good" and that the leak was gone. (Our total lose on this job -$5720 and [member name removed] also wants an additional $3000 refund) As I was doing my normal customer follow ups this January, I called [member name removed] to see how the roof was doing and she said it started leaking after hurricane Sandy and that she wanted her money back or she was going to "ruin my reputation". I said that hurricane force winds can cause problems with a roof and offered to come out and take a look at the problem. She said no,and she hung up the phone on me. As far as the company name, I decided not to rename it because there are many existing warranties out there and customers think you are trying to dodge them when you rename a construction business.Although this job had problems, I feel that I went above and beyond to try to satisfy this customer. I stand behind all of the work we do and if any potential customer has any question about my integrity please call me on my cell phone at 215-260-6553. I will be more than happy to provide you with many satisfied customer references.

There were two pervasive matters that provided significant challenges for Romano Roofers who were 100% of the time responsive to my telephone calls and in conversing with them in person a well as being extremely conscientious and tenaciously diligent in removing the original roof and installing their roof. The challenges were (in my opinion and/or observation), rainy and windy weather conditions and the results of the original roof installation presented challenges that needed to be addressed by Romano Roofers in order for them to properly remove the original roof and install the new roof. Quite contrary to "doing less than required" or "pushing issues aside" or in any way "delaying their responses", quite contrary to this, a 180 degrees difference from this, Romano Roofers being "dead center on target", were extremely concerned and consistently acted on that concern that their work and their product/ the new roof be of outstanding enduring quality. As far as I know and understand, Romano Roofers went beyond what was required to make sure I had an outstanding product excellently installed. In the early going here, thus far, this is accurate picture. Thus far I am extremely satisfied and anticipate I will remain extremely satisfied. The owner and all persons 'that I had the pleasure to come in contact with' employed by Romano Roofers were always extremely respectful and polite. Their dependability and punctuality were consistently "top notch. They were "top notch" also when it came to being careful the few times they needed to enter my house and in cleaning up at the end of "the job". Based on my experience, my opinion is that "I highly recommend without any reservation what so ever Romano Roofers".
Description of Work: As a matter of necessity a new roof was needed. This is a flat roof house. Romano roofers removed the original roof and installed a completely new roof.

The process went very smoothly. At first I was very concerned that there may have been major structural damage to my roof; fortunately Jay and his crew quickly identified the issue, provided me with an estimate, and returned the next day to repair the leaky roof. Clean up was great as they left no mess, which left me with no additional stress!
Description of Work: This company was awesome.! Came out at 8am, saw the problem and completed the estimate in no time. I was happy to see that it was a a small and inexpensive repair. They even showed me pictures of the problem. They came back 2 hours later and completed the job the same day. Very friendly, clean cut crew; they worked hard too. Very pleased with the service
