In January they came out to give me an estimate. In February they wanted a $2000 down payment for work to be started in May. May 3rd came and they didn't show up and I called them to find out what was going on. They informed me they got busy and would be out the next weekend, May 10th. The next weekend rolled around and they didn't show up and I called and talked to Mr. Roach and he informed me that they wouldn't be able to do the job because it was to small for them to do. I said okay and asked for my money back. We have gone back and forth with this company and they have said they have sent the check and are going to send the check and after 3 weeks I never received anything. Now they are not returning any calls or emails. I have filed a complaint with the attorney general who is going to help me with this process now.
Description of Work: They gave me an estimate on work to be completed in May.

We had very high hopes when choosing this company. Brian was very thorough when conducting the estimate. We were told that the job would take about 6 weeks. It ended up taking almost 12 weeks. It started out fine. The basement was framed pretty quick and everything looked good, then the wheels started to fall off. The person who came out to do the wiring work was a real trip. He showed up late on a saturday and started to work, he kept working and kept working. I asked him how it was going a few times, he just said fine. Then around 10 pm he was still hammering away in my garage and I went out and told him that he had to leave because my 4 year old son was in bed trying to sleep. I appreciate that he was trying to finish the work, but if he hadn't been 3 hours late, he wouldn't have had to stay so late. The drywall was then finished, leaving the majority of the work finished in under 30 days. The drywallers left a huge pile of drywall scraps in the middle of the basement. I pointed this out to almost everyone that showed up and to the owners wife. Nobody did anything except comment on how much of a mess it was. They finally ended up sending the framer out to clean up the drywall mess. Also, the drywallers covered up a vent in the ceiling for heat. I told the owners wife about this and nothing was done. Also, at this point, the whole basement was wired, but nobody would come out and turn on the wiring. Only one outlet was working, As a result, the finisher had to bring his own light. This was brought up to the owners wife and nothing was done. The whole time this is going on, the contractor is nowhere to be found. Then they all disappeared. It took them 30 days just to spread drywall mud, sand, and then paint the basement. All of which was being done with almost no light. If it wasn't for Ed, the guy they contracted to install the floor, we may still be waiting for them to finish. He pushed the owner to get the materials out quickly so he could finish the rest of the work. Ed finished ontime, but there were other delays that pushed the whole project into the month of december. The vent that was drywalled and now finished over, had to be cut out. Finally, the contractor showed up to to that. The whole problem with the project is that the owner is never onsite checking his employees, and the employees are not efficient enough to be left alone for that long. There were several times, someone, including the owner would show up and say "Wow, the drywallers really left a mess, or why did they do this or why did they do that", the problem was nobody would do anything to fix the problem. Its also clear that the contractor overbooks everything and therefore has to keep pulling people off of jobs when people start to complain. I found that the more I complained, the more the work got done.

They took a long time to finish the work. It was an absolute nightmare. It was just horrible. I drew them pictures of horizontal doors that I wanted, but they screwed up completely. They installed the wrong doors.

Though everything seemed to start off very well, and though we had respect for and confidence in the Company Owner based on our interaction with him at the time of the job quote, our experience was very disappointing overall. The project ended up taking over two months, rather than the couple of weeks projected by the Company. The project started off slow but steady with one worker working about four hours a day for about a month. He was a nice guy, and we knew he had a long commute, so we never complained about the pace of the work, but then the Owner needed the worker somewhere else, and, against our stated wishes, he took the worker off the job for at a least a week, leaving us with no one. From then on, the job seemed rushed. The quality of the work became an issue, as did the quality of the materials. While the Owner himself seems to do very good work overall, some of the work done by the Company was that of a paid "do-it-yourselfer". For example, a "substitute" worker completely bungled a stock wall cabinet project, but installed them and left them there for us anyway. We, and the other worker, had to speak up to ensure that they were removed and replaced. Cheap, and sometimes inappropriate materials were used such as mdf where there should have been solid wood and cheap self-stick vinyl baseboard that just fell off the walls after the "substitute" worker left. I had specified that I wanted windows with grids, and this was stated in the Proposal. Windows without grids showed up on the site. I was told that the grids weren't available in these window sizes, but I quickly found them at Lowe's, so I made it clear that they needed to be replaced. What's worse, the Owner's wife (who does the books and scheduling) began soliciting the final check (which the Proposal says is due at completion) when there were at least twenty items left to be done, fixed or provided. Further, she tried to overcharge us twice! Communication seemed to be a major issue. Matters discussed with either the Owner, the Owner's wife or the worker were not communicated to the others, which caused much confusion and resulted in these Company representatives pointing fingers at each other and at us! We were left to wonder if they realized that we are in fact the Customer, and a good paying one at that. There were times when the Owner's wife, and even the Owner, were downright rude to us because we were speaking up--in a very professional manner of course--about things that were wrong and needed to be addressed. In order to get the job completed, we prepared very detailed punch lists and had many communications with the Owner and his wife. It was a painful process. There is no reason that the project needed to be as difficult as it was. The Company was off the site and working on other projects at least 2-3 weeks out of the time it took to complete our project. I would have never expected that. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this Company to anyone else.
