Dan promptly came to assess my needs and give me an estimate. Several days later two workers came to do the work. I have heavy clay soil and it was hard work to shovel out the area for the dry well. The gutter drainpipe was extended into the dry well and the sump pump pipe was also extended into the dry well. Topsoil was placed over the trench holding the extensions and stone was placed into the dry well which was then topped off with dirt. Topsoil was graded at the back and side of the house so water would drain away from the foundation. All of the soil was then tamped down. During the first rainfall the sump pump rarely kicked in which was a nice change. The only problem was that the soil over the dry well settled between the stones and left three deep holes. Fortunately I had more soil and filled in the holes and tamped down the soil. I called Dan and he said he would come out if I needed him to fix anything but I had already taken care of it. Called him a week later for an estimate on the cost of removing some bushes I had cut down along with cutting down some more of the bushes. He came the same day and finished cutting down the remainder of the bushes and said there was no cost because the original job he did needed some minor fixing. I was extremely pleased both with the job done and the attitude of Dan and his workers. They were all very pleasant and professional.

Dan was prompt in scheduling the estimate after we spoke on the phone and arrived on time. He provided an estimate immediately and then followed up via email. His crew arrived on schedule and was very curteous and hard working. They answered all of my questions and finished the job as I desired. I am hoping that the regraded soil and rerouting of water will keep my basement dry

Dan returned my calls promptly and followed up quickly. He came to measure and see the space quickly. We were interested in an overall plan we could potentially implement in stages due to financial constraints. The plan he came up with was beautiful and he was very honest about places we could save money vs places he recommended trying to stick with the plan. We ended up not doing the landscaping because our house priorities changed. I would definitely plan to use this company when we can finally proceed with the landscaping.

EcoGardens was wonderful to work with. The owner, Dan Cleary, is knowledgeable, professional, and enthusiastic. It was easy to communicate our wishes and they were great about clarifying questions. We look forward to having them come back in the spring for more work.

I had mentioned that I will give an update on growth of the yard come spring and Dan was right on with his promises that the garden and tree would respond come spring . Our garden has responded really well and we are quite happy with Dans work . We had been away on vacation and upon arrival home the garden was blooming along with the tree .

Our basement's exterior window wells have been filling up with water whenever it rains (especially when the ground gets oversaturated) resulting in a flooded basement every time. We had considered hiring a waterproofing service but I suspected the problem was more of an exterior nature. I looked up Landscapers in my area on Angie's List and came across EcoGardens. They were the only one that mentioned Storm Water Drainage Management on their website so I gave them a call. Dan Cleary came out to my house in a timely fashion and confirmed that the solution was in re-landscaping the property. He submitted a proposal a few days later and once I made a few minor changes started work the following week. His people showed up bright and early and were able to complete the project by the end of the day. They did an excellent job, thoroughly cleaned up after themselves and even added the remaining top soil to our garden beds. One side note- by the time they were through they realized they needed more river rock; Dan took care of it himself the very next day. I will certainly recommend EcoGardens to my friends and neighbors and will use them again for any future needs.

Dan was great. We were complete novices at hiring someone to do this kind of work, and he was patient and kind with our questions and concerns. But before I go more into that - let me get to the bottom line: we now have this wonderful garden oasis in our backyard!! I love being back there. We live in a twin house, .13 acres, and a close walk into our town - we're not in a huge suburban or country property. But Dan helped us create a woodsy, colorful, peaceful feeling that already is attracting birds and butterflies. We also loved his idea for the rain garden, feeling like we're doing our bit environmentally by using the runoff water from the roof rather than polluting our waterways with it. And the grading he and his guys did, is definitely working - we have way less water in our basement. Dan's a good listener and when I'd email him a question, I'd get a long, thoughtful reply - same with calls back on the phone. He spent much time hearing what we were hoping to do, making recommendations, going over pictures for us, answering more questions. This was a big investment for us, and we were a little nervous, but every time we got anxious about something, Dan would say or do something to build up our trust again. I'm not putting price or how we felt about price, because we really didn't compare with anyone else so don't know - we liked him and his ideas and wanted to get the garden in before the heat of the summer really came on, so we decided to take a leap of faith without doing our usual comparison shopping. But I have a feeling it was a very fair price, especially since there were probably things we had them do that took longer than might have been expected (the clearing out under the deck, putting up the arbor, etc.) We do have a very small number of the many, many plants he put in, that are struggling. Dan's said he'll replace them if they don't come back but we all decided to wait in case they do, and if not, we'd rather he put the new ones in, in the fall anyway. We completely trust he'll do what he promised. In meantime, he also gave us plenty of advice on our options to create a better chance for them, and we've done several of his ideas, and already see a couple that look like they'll come back. There were a couple other minor blips in the process that we attribute to his being young and newer at it - but he always took responsibility to quickly make things right. We highly recommend Dan and his team without reservation, and will use them again for our Stage II (we had a garage in back taken down and didn't have them do anything with the area around that except clean out) if we don't decide to try to do it ourselves.

I highly recommend Ecogardens. Dan developed a plan that was sensitive to the environment, our abilities, and budget. Everything is native plants. The gardens are growing in beautifully. He's been back to answer questions and check on things, and he's been a great resource to us in our gardening efforts. Prompt, helpful, knowledgeable. We would definitely use him again, and we've already recommended him to friends.

My wife hired this company. They showed up when expected and did what they promised. Unfortunately, they ran out of mulch, but the the owner - after apologizing and assuring us that it would be taken care of the following day - did so. When I came home from work the following day, everything was just right.

Dan and his team were punctual, friendly, and hard workers. Dan took the time to discuss with me beforehand my ideas for the gardens. He drew up a design and suggested the plants. He explained to me the reason behind each plant that went into the floorbeds. The company is meticulous in their work. When I had a problem with three shrubs that seemed to be wilting in the side gardens, Dan immediately replaced two and detailed how to better take care of the third. The gardens look beautiful. The two problem plants are still a little wilty but I think that has more to do with the soil and is by no means a reflection on Dan's work. I recommended him to several family members and would do so again.

Sometimes lawn and garden services are at best competent. These guys are great.

I contacted Dan because I have a great outdoor patio but the weeds had taken over. I bought the house in Dec 2009 and haven't done a thing with it. Dan was very prompt in contacting me back and within days he was over doing a free estimate. He was great!! We talked about different plant types, color schemes and he drew pictures to accompany his spoken ideas. He came back in another week and he transformed my overgrown-weeded patio to a wonderful outdoor oasis. Because he needed to come through my house with all of the plants and equipment, he was very careful in being clean...after the job was done, he even volunteered to move my new patio furniture outside. If I could attach pictures, I would. I am very pleased!

Dan was very professional and did an excellent job. He came out and gave us a free estimate and performed the work within the time frame that he promised. The hedge looks great. We will likely have him come back regularly to help maintain it.

We would definitely hire him again. He does this work on the side while he is in school. He does a good job and is dependable.
