American Home Concepts did a fantastic job on my new windows!! From the initial consultation through the installation, they were attentive, courteous and did exemplary work! They installed high quality windows for a price that was substantially less than I was quoted elsewhere. I have had three different projects done by American Home Concepts and I could not speak more highly about the quality of the work, materials used and the overall experience!! I will definitely be working with them on my next project.

Jefferson and American Home Concepts handled some very high fascia, soffitt, siding/trim work 40ft in the air. Being retired military im extremely picky, but the work exceeded my expectations. Work was completed ahead of schedule without compromising quality. Its worth noting that three years of efforts to source this job were unsuccessful until Jefferson and American Home Concepts arrived.

I was told I would be wasting his time by coming out to give an estimate. I told him I had gotten other estimates. He told me the job would be a minimum of $5,000.00. I said fine. He was being judgemental and he judged wrong. I would never hire this company nor recommend.

Minor repairs were ok. Crew arrived on time, worked quickly and were generally professional although communication was minimal and the crew leader barely spoke to me just came in and started working, until I asked questions or it was time to pay. I noticed several apparent shortcuts with one worker and had to force him by multiple requests and the insistance of his son, to correct one section where he was trying to cover over shreded/water damaged wood after installing the window. He was annoyed because I insisted the damaged wood should be replaced and he stated that "he could get a nail throuh it so it was OK". When I told the manager this when I called him to compalin about the excessive air flow and he came out to inspect the windows a few weeks after the job was completed he (Mr Schinder) said "well I was not here so I can not account for what took place". During the job workers were working in multiple places and it was hard to keep an eye on all. Most seemed conscientious. When they left they made an effort to clean but did damage my lawn by leaving wet concrete in spots. Overall the work was of fair qualty, they did not seal drill holes in the windows and the windows that I was told would resolve my energy leaks and leave me with a nice warm house- they leak air almost as badly as the orginal wood windows that were replaced; they just look better. I filed a complaint letter with the BBB and the company. The company and the manufacturer came out to inspect. Even though the manager from American Home Concepts felt the air comming through the windows, he tried to blow it off saying the air was comming around the windows and not through the windows and that I needed new siding and if I got new siding I would not have the air circulating around the windows and that " windows are only designed to stop air from one direction". I thought windows were suppose to stop air from comming in the window opening like my other windows do: Silly Me! I had to resist the urge to choke him. So basicially all of the promises they made about the windows and how energy efficient and of solid good quality they were was "bull". He said he would do anything to make me happy and sent someone ( the very worker I cought taking the short cuts) to recaulk. They also cracked one of my window frames during installation and blew if off saying " well they have to use crow bars to get the old windows out" Well so did the company that installed the new window in my middle bedroom but the installer did not crack my frames in the process. In general, some of the windows were poorly measured and they tried to make their poor quality product /or installation my fault and still have not made things right or repaired my frames. During this process I had a family crisis and dealing with that while fighting with them was too much. I got so angry and frustrated dealing with them this winter that I had to let if drop for a while. I now plan to recontact them and the BBB. This is not resolved.
Description of Work: Installs 14 "energy efficient windows, replaced a strip of siding blown off by wind damage. Extended flashing on porch roof to stop water leak inside and around a window bay, installed garage door and relplaced cement walkway in front of garage. Salesman was professional and low pressure, price seemed resonable compared to other bids and company was able to do all repairs and not just a portion which is why i choose them.

They are a home remodeling company. I was extremely disappointed with my experience with them. They were extremely pushy in terms of setting up the time. They were not accommodating into my schedule. I had a gentleman that came out and took a look at my floors and my kitchen. He was not able to give me an estimate on that. He had somebody else come out to take a look at the floors. That gentleman was extremely rude. He was on the phone for half the time we were talking. He answered calls while we were talking. He gave me suggestions and advised me on what needed to be done. I asked him to give me a quote and a month later I haven't received a single contact from the company. They did come out and talk to us, but other than that they were extremely disappointing. I would have spent a good amount of money. I was surprised by the fact that they didn't follow it through. I would be extremely cautious about their work just because from their initial contact they have been extremely inexistent and unreliable.
Description of Work: I asked American Home Concepts to give me a quote for 2 items. One was for redoing the hardwood floor, either refinishing or putting new floors, and the other for a kitchen remodel.

The work did not start as scheduled. The cabinets were delivered to the curb without anyone there to bring them inside. I had to call to request someone. Once the deposit was made, I felt in a dead lock. I called several times and only got one response. I had to wait for them and it was their way. I am satisfied with the kitchen but not the stress

Contractor performed installation of vinyl replacement windows and siding. There were some initial problems with the window capping and a few other issues with the siding. At the time the windows seemed to be fine but it was relatively warm weather for fall. My assessment changed once the weather turned colder and became more typical for fall and winter, Within about a month, we noticed a significant cold draft from the majority (2/3rds !) of the new installed windows and that the rooms with new insulation and siding were cold and drafty. The problem is not with the windows (they are energy star/tax credit eligible)but with the quality of the installation, the draft is obviously originating from the region between the window and wood frame/trim. The draft is so strong that a towel needs to be placed on the window frames to minimize cold air infiltration. The worst window has a ~ 3/4 inch distance between the window frame and the trim of the wood frame. It looks like they just tried to caulk that gap instead of insulating properly?it is obviously an incredibly drafty window worse than the 40 year old windows that they replaced!. I know that they could do better as three of the installed windows are not draft but many more are drafty. Also, the window capping on the exterior appears rushed as there are gaps in the capping. There are also a few smaller issues with siding that should have been done better. Will pursue corrective action with contractor. I can't imagine using them again given the problems less than two months after installation! It looks like they rushed the work.
Description of Work: Installed siding on 2nd floor bay and back porch of house. Also installed vinyl replacment windows.

American Home Concepts just finished remodeling our bathrooms and most of our upstairs with it, and they did a great job. Richard Schindler was our initial contact person, and Alex and Yanosh led the crews that did the work. Richard was the consummate professional, responding pleasantly and with an unfailing service ethic even when we needed to make a fairly large change along the way. Alex and Yanosh and the guys were extremely nice and very fast and very talented. Once we got started, the project took only 4-5 weeks. Everyone was patently concerned that we be happy with the work, right down to the smallest details on the ?punch list? of last-minute items (hang a mirror, put in a door stop?that kind of thing). They were prompt and pleasant and made the inevitable disruption as little a problem as possible. We would certainly have them back again. In more detail: We hired American Home Concepts to redo our two bathrooms, which still had the 50-year old original plumbing and design. The bathrooms were extremely small, oddly shaped, and the doors banged into each other and into a bedroom door on a landing that really couldn?t accommodate them. We wanted normal-size bathrooms and a sensible floor plan, so the bathroom remodel turned into an upstairs remodel, in which we reshaped the hallway, putting a private entrance from one bedroom into the second bathroom to make a suite. We needed to do some seriously creative rethinking to make nice bathrooms, as one bathroom had to accommodate a slanted floor (above a stairwell), an attic entrance, and the chimney in its 8x8 floor plan. It came out beautifully! And the guys were so flexible in dealing with my ideas, which sometimes must have seemed a bit whacky. When the cabinet we ordered to hide the slanted floor seemed enormous (it was the size we ordered?it just looked awful when we put it in), they trimmed it to my exact specifications, and it looks perfect. The tile team did beautiful work, as did Wolf on all the walls and plastering. They also took up the rugs and refinished the 50-year old original hardwood to my exacting husband?s satisfaction, laid plywood down in the attic, installed a new attic entrance (so we have a ton of storage we never had before) and built my daughters a new bedroom closet. We love the results; it?s almost as if we got half a new house. Their work cost us about $41,000 and I spent another $10,000 or so on materials. This was how I stayed within budget. American Home Concepts will do EVERYTHING for you, including acquiring all the fixtures and tile and so on, and I believe it. There is, of course, a cost for this level of service, and while I really appreciated the level of confidence they inspired (this was my first venture into remodeling), I found I couldn?t afford that level of service as well as the tile, cabinets, and fixtures that we wanted. When we discovered this, I decided I had to stop and regroup. I think this may have seriously unnerved Richard, since AHC had already put considerable effort into the preliminaries with us?and hadn?t made a penny. But he was nice as could be and said that they really wanted our business. Here?s how we worked it out: Richard gave me a new price, for the work only, and I saved by purchasing the materials myself, mostly on line. Thus, we got exactly the bathrooms we wanted, and AHC did great work. The only trouble turned out to be with the cast iron tub; I ordered one with a right hand drain, and we ultimately needed a left. But AHC took care of this too: Yanosh picked up a tub (same tub, different handedness) and Richard went the extra distance to find a buyer for the other tub when I couldn?t return it. All that and beautiful bathrooms!
