John Elliott General Contractor

John is terrific. He answered an emergency call from us and came on a Sunday. He is very professional and his work is excellent.

When I originally discovered birds nesting in an old cavity in our siding, I called John to discuss his availability and the best way to repair the problem. He visited me that day to see the problem first hand. At that time I was uncertain if the cavity was actually still occupied, so I observed it for several weeks. When I was convinced the nest was active, I waited until the young birds (Starlings) had fledged and then called John to schedule a time that was convenient for both of us. Within less than a week he and his son came to take care of the siding issue and deal with two faulty electrical switches and examine a problem with a faulty breaker on one of the kitchen circuits. John was responsive and kept me informed by phone, so that once we began the siding repair, the work was completed promptly. My experience with John and his crew remains consistent over a period of more than one year and with multiple jobs requiring a variety of skills and experience.

I needed work done immediately as my husband had returned from hospital and his safety was an issue. Mr. Elliott responded immeediately and came out to see what was needed. He had a previous job to complete, but came out a few days later and did a very nice clean job.

I called John in the morning. He promised to call me back later that day or 1st thing the next morning. He called back in a couple of hours to schedule for that afternoon. He called when he was on the way. He arrived when he said he would, completed the job quickly and cleaned up. John was friendly and professional. I plan to use in he future for other handyman jobs.

Very professional and quick to respond. Actually came out on a Sunday to fit in the work!

My final email to him was a simple request to let me know he was no longer interested in doing the work I needed done. Again, unanswered. I cannot imagine a business owner in the age of social media being so uncaring about potential customers. It takes years to build a good reputation but only a minute to ruin it.

If he is no longer interested in the job I have, the PROFESSIONAL way to handle this would be to reply to my email and let me know.

A week ago, we discovered that our mailbox/post had been vandalized and needed to be replaced. I searched Angie's List as I do frequently to find a highly rated contractor and learned of John Elliott. I left a message for him on Sunday afternoon and received a call back Sunday evening. He said he would be happy to come to our home and give us an estimate. John came on Monday afternoon, gave us a very fair estimate and said he could do the work later in the week. One of the most impressive things about John is his level of communication. He called several times during the week to coordinate a good work day for my schedule and his. It appeared as though he might not be able to do the work until Tuesday, the 29th, but he finished another project early on Saturday morning and called to see if he could come to do the work around noon. All the work was done in less than 2 hours and the workmanship is exceptional. I plan to call on him to help me with other projects as time goes on. I found John to be very knowledgeable in a number of home maintenance areas. He was also very considerate of any time commitments my wife and I might have had. Thanks again, Angie's List, for helping us identify an excellent contractor.

John was fantastic. Very responsive, a great communicator, got the jobs done on time and at the price he quoted. We were very happy with the work and look forward to using him again in the future. It's great to have found a reliable contractor that we can call when issues arise!

They did a great job. They were timely and did a high quality of work. Plus they didnt nickel and dime us. They were very fairly priced.. Very polite and respectful.. We would highly recommend them and will be using them in the future.

He and his son came out an hour after I called. He fixed the leak and then gave me a very fair estimate. They were both very professional and polite. I plan to use them again in the very near future.

We were looking to get attic steps installed, contacted Angie's List and they recommend John Elliott. He contacted us immediately and we set up an appointment for him to come out to give us an estimate. He arrived at the time promised. He gave us a quote, I said I'd contact him with a date we were available for the install. He arrived on time on the date agreed upon with 2 guys to work with. The job was completed that day. One minor thing was overlooked and when we contacted him he asked when we were available for him to come back. Once we gave him a date he showed up and "fixed" the issue.

1. He completed a complicated undertaking regarding the reconfiguration of a wall in our Great Room which adjoined a wall to our garage. When large, "In-Wall" tv's were popular, we had a large open space in the wall in our Great Room. With our current-day flatscreen tv, mounted on a free standing tv console, the large open space behind looked silly, outdated and was wasted space. On the reverse side of that same wall, that same open space could potentially be used to house a second refrigerator in our garage. John closed the wall up in our Great Room and opened up the garage side of that same space. He built out an entire area so we could place a full size refrigerator. In addition to framing out the space, he outfitted the space with all of the associated electrical work/connections. He finished it off nicely and it is really functional for us! 2. John also installed a hanging light (with associated electrical connections and motion sensor) in the Mudroom portion of our garage. 3. While preparing to set up our Christmas lights, we were having trouble with our outside electrical connection. John troubleshooted our circuit breaker box, and fixed the issue within a few minutes. He did not even charge us for this troubleshooting. 4. The most recent job that John and his team accomplished for us was hanging two 3 X 5 ft Persian rugs in a second story foyer area. My husband and I considered trying to hang them ourselves using two 20ft ladders, but decided against this as it seemed way too dangerous. John evaluated the curtain rod hardware that we were planning to use and felt they needed to be stronger. He stopped at a local supply shop to get stronger hardware to use to make sure the carpets would be properly and safely secured to the wall. John and his team set up a scaffolding system to be able to get the carpets exactly in the right place and did the proper measurements to make sure they were centered on the wall, and evenly spaced. John and his team handled our carpets with care and were gentle with them as they postioned them on the rods. They carpets look beautiful and I couldn't be happier! We highly recommend John and think he offers a fair price for his work.

John was great to work with. He was on-time, courteous and reasonably priced. He kept me updated as his work progressed. I would definitely use him again not only for myself, but the rest of my family!

I really can't exaggerate how easy it was to work with John and his crew. Scheduling all the odds and ends that were done over a series of months couldn't have been easier. Since John was busy with other projects and I was often otherwise occupied, we still easily managed to schedule work from week to week to make steady progress. I was so quickly confident that John and his crew would do a good job and understood what needed to be done on each task that I gave them a key to our home so that my absence wouldn't waste their time or delay our home improvements Although some of the work we had done required days, much of the work was done in a few hours. Since there were over a dozen different projects, the pace with which they were done made it possible for me to be present. Initially, I was concerned about getting an overall estimate, but I quickly realized that I could rely on John's crew to give us an good days work at a reasonable rate. Since we worked on everything over a number of months the cost was of labor was never a burden. When we needed material, John purchased these for us so that we got the benefit of his contractor discount. Time flies and spring and summer have distracted me from writing this review. Recently I've been in touch with John about additional work, and that motivated me to write this review. I'm looking forward to working with him and his crew again..

We absolutely love the new bathroom. The attention to detail was superb, and communication was top notch. This was the second project we have hired John for. There was quite a bit of electrical work involved, between the heated flooring, a new vent, and new light, so they had to install a new GFCI breaker and run a cable from the basement up to the bathroom, and his crew was able to do it all.

This is the third time that I have used John and his team and again they were amazing. They do such great work and have amazing communication. The biggest reason I keep using John is that he has a tremendous amount of knowledge and he is always fair. My master bathroom was dated and honestly a mess. John and his team were able to remove all of the old tile floor (wet sanded) and pull out a cast iron tub. They basically took everything down to the studs and then rebuilt the entire room while making adjustments to plumbing and electrical to fit in a standing shower and larger vanity. Before they patched up all of the walls and floor they make sure that everything is done right. I know that when John completes work for me I will not have any problems down the line. The bathroom looks amazing and that is all thanks to John and his team. I can't say enough good words and I will absolutely use John for all work in the future.

Our dishwasher completely broke and had plenty of gross smelly flodded water in its basin. This happened Thursday morning the 29th. I called John in a panic because i was having friends over for Trick or Treating on Saturday for Halloween. On Friday morning I bought the new dishwasher and John took his Saturday off to go pick it up 20 min away from my house and bring it over and install it that day. This is our 2nd time hiring John Elliot and I can tell you we're basically going to adopt him as our "other dad" because he has been so responsive and professional in his work with us. I highly recommend calling him if you have any issues in your home big or small.

The job was done in one day and he did a nice job. He did the job promptly after i contracted him and he was very responsive when I called. The price was exactly what he quoted. Very positive experience.

John and his crew quickly diagnosed the problem, went out and bought the needed parts, and had our light up and running in no time. John and his crew are great. Very dependable and honest.

He came out once and did some measurements stating he would call me with an estimate. Then he said that he or his brother would come back out to do the estimate and no one ever called or showed up.

John and his crew showed up every day until the job was done and did a high quality job with all the work. I would definitely hire them again and we are already starting to work on our next list of things for him to do next year. It is not easy to find an honest, quality contractor. John is at the top of our list.

John did a great job! It was a just a small job, my kitchen light flickered one day, went out, and didn't come back on. John had the problem diagnosed and fixed within a short amount of time. Afterwards I asked John about some other projects I had around the house. He was very knowledgeable, professional, polite, and offered some advice\suggestions. I would certainly use John Elliott General Contracting again.

It went perfect. John came himself to give the estimate and did all the work himself. He was very easy to talk to and I felt comfortable with him in my home as if we had known him for years. After he took the old sink out and sized up the new one (the two sinks were very different and should have matched perfectly but did not) he realized he would have to cut away at the granite to make it fit. He could have price gauged me and it would have turned into a bitter relationship but instead he was fair with a minimal uptick in price - which will pay off because we will always use him for work around our house. He was a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend him.
