That service turned out okay. Two employees came out and they were here for an hour and a half each. One of the two did not give me an hour and half of work. He was getting supplies and was on his phone in the truck. They did charge us overtime to complete the work, but the work was good.

Left a message for John, he got right back to me to schedule. We scheduled for John to come take a look at the work and to give me an estimate, after which we set a date for him to do the work. He arrived and completed all of the tasks. He was very polite and knew what he was doing. Never seemed to get upset, as I have noticed with other contractors that I have hired. I was very pleased with the work that was done and will definitely call him in the future when I am in need of work done around the house

I called John and he anwered the phone on my first try. This was on a Friday, and he came to my home the next Monday and completed most of the job the same day. He came back on Tuesday for a brief time to finish up. He left the room clean and ready to paint. Then my husband asked him to replace the front doorknob, which he did on Wednesday, and after an adjustment, it now works perfectly. John is a professional and does perfect work. We look forward to needing him again.

They also were willing to add small things to the list as they came up without complaint and with efficiency. I would definitely use them again and wish I had found them earlier!

He did a variety of different tasks including electrical, carpentry,plumbing and painting. He kept the work area clean and we would use him again. He showed up when he said he would and worked a full day. He returned phone calls and finished jobs he started.

They did some things around the house for me. Everything went great!

I contacted John after noticing a problem with my bathroom wall and having a leak inspection company identify several issues with my roof (flat asphalt), including holes near the downspout and cracking tar around the stack, which they said might be causing the issue. John responded promptly and came out to look at the issue and provide an estimate. I asked him to proceed with the repairs, which he did the next day. Following the repairs, it seemed that some water was still getting into the wall. I called John and he came out again to look at the wall and go back on the roof to further investigate the problem. He was very responsive and came out several times. Given that the roof was old and I had doubts about the number of layers that were on it, I asked him to provide an estimate to tear off the existing roof and replace it. His estimate was reasonable and I asked him to proceed. He came out the following week and did the work. When they got into the project, they discovered there were numerous layers on the roof and the wood in the area near the downspout and stack had rotted from water getting in. There were also a couple of cracked joists. They removed everything, replaced the rotted wood and repaired the joists. John's final bill was consistent with the estimate and only added the amounts for the additional materials that were needed. I was also happy with the clean-up from the job, which included cleaning debris that went into my neighbors' yards. I was very happy with the work John did and would use him again.

The contractor said that I lived too far and he wanted to charge me extra for mileage, but wasn't too happy to come this distance anyway.

We were pleased with the initial services that we requested. However, when we noticed that we need one more additional repair to our home to fulfill the new buyer request, it was a frustrating process to get a quick appointment with John. It took numerous phone calls and reschedules to have the final repair complete with a detailed bill. Luckily, John was able to meet our timeline to get the repair done before we went to settlement.

John and his son did a great job. They did everything from repairing some handrails to grouting tile, to painting a room. Part of the repair involved removing an old unused toilet from our laundry room. During the repair, John discovered mold, and promptly advised us of his finding. He walked us through his suggested correction plan, and provided an estimated cost to remove the mold. He ended up removing a section of old drywall. He and his son did an excellent job replacing the drywall with new material. John also determined the root cause of the mold collection and fixed that as well. John and his son performed all their work within the cost estimates they originally provided to us. When additional work was warranted, they again provided an estimate and kept within the amount they estimated. They did a great job of communicating with us and let us know when they would be available to perform work. They were always punctual and courteous! We can't recommend John enough!

. John came to my house 4/2/2014 and gave me an estimate 400.00 higher than he first proposed, but he ended cutting 350.00, which I was happy with. He said he would start the job about two weeks later, right after he finished a big job he was working on. He started about two weeks after the original quoted date, but I still was happy the job was started. He did the job over a two day period. Fri.-Sat. Incidentally, I had given John 850.00 cash down, so I owed him 1000.00 at the completion of the job. On Friday when he and his two employees were finished for the day, he asked me for cash, so he could pay them for their work, so I gave him 600.00. I found this unusual that the owner of a contracting business would not have checks or cash himself to pay his employees, if this was in fact the end of their work weeks. I just think this is not professional, especially since his son who worked on Friday came back on Saturday to finish. The job was finished and I thought every thing was okay. I had told John I needed a written statement for the insurance company, and he told me he would get it to me the following week. He also told me that they had found the leak and had repaired it. I was very happy that the dampness on my carpet had dried. So I called him and told him how happy I was, and please not to forget the statement I needed. Unfortunately the rains came and the leak returned, so I called John and gave him the bad news. We talked, and tried to agree on a date for him to return. The last call I received was Friday 6/6/2014, stating he would like to come out the next day. I told him I couldn't meet him that day, and asked him if he could make it one day of the upcoming week. He said okay, and that has been 22 days ago. I'm writing this review on Saturday 6/28/2014. So I'm back where I started, with a leak he told me he found, I've spent 1850.00, have never received the statement as promised and why does it say yes under warrantees/guarantees on his Angie's List page? This is the first time I've used Angie's List, and could very well de the last. I'm debating whether to keep or cancel my subscription. USERS BEWARE! Make sure the contractors, etc. have a good amount of reviews, John Elliott had three, don't make the same mistake I did! Peg & John Boukalis, Brookhaven, Pa.

Everything went well. They arrived on time and were went to work immediately. John Elliott listened and addressed my concerns personally and professionally.I would recommend this Company.

My experience with John Elliot General Contractors was excellent. He promptly returned my initial call to set up a meeting for an estimate. He arrived on time on each designated day or called to let me know of any delays. The work area was set up to protect my carpets and removed all trash and debris upon leaving. John removed approx. one quarter of the plaster ceiling and replaced with new insulation material and sheet rock. Removed cracked plaster from a wall corner from ceiling to floor and re-plastered. All the taped and patched area's were sanded and blended so smoothly, after painting, I couldn't tell where the damaged areas were it looked so good. Because of the large areas, due to the plaster drying time, it took a total of 3 visits to complete. Two old, out-dated, light fixtures were removed and two new ceiling fans were hung. I am pleased with his work.

Work was great. Courteous. Professional. Got the job done with little to no supervision. Just as requested.

John came out and gave me estimates on two different jobs. I really appreciated his candor and approach. We agreed to go forward with the one job as it was more pressing for me. We had a hard time coordinating schedules, but mostly because of my work schedule being inflexible. When we picked the day, John was on time, and got the job done in less time than he estimated. The microwave looks great, and I really appreciated his work ethic. Thanks John!

The scheduling was horrible and I had to reach out to them and they never called me back. I am going to get a refund on the deal.

How about flawless? John had a little time between bigger contracting jobs, and was able to reinforce a built in bookcase that was coming away from the wall. I'm sure it will survive an earthquake now.

John and his son were great. I purchased a big deal for 4 hours of handyman service (2 hours per person). I used it to have them mount and connect 4 security cameras on four corners of my house where I could not reach. They mounted the cameras, ran the cables through the attic and back to the system unit, where I connected them and guided John in aiming them where I wanted them. They were very patient with me getting positioning right. They were in and out in exactly the time paid for. Will be hiring them again for other things around the house.

John, his son Bryan, and another gentleman worked quickly and efficiently to install the new plywood floor in my attic. The price included the labor and the cost of the materials. I am very happy with the result and I feel that the price was very reasonable for the work performed. All the guys are knowledgeable and work hard - they also clean up after themselves, which I appreciate because not all contractors do this. I will definitely be calling upon John in the future.
