Paul and Paul were very flexible with us throughout a major and complex project. They gave us a fair quote and worked tirelessly until it was completed. Really nice guys and always responsive. They even had great ideas that we hadn’t considered to get it done correctly. We could not have done this without them.

Paul took my money, never returned calls and never came back to finish the work. That is stealing and I don’t even know what to do at this point.

Paul and his crew are always a total pleasure and do great job. He has done several jobs for me in the past, excavation, driveway, sidewalks and walkways and now the steps. He is fair and reliable. Always the best work.

Spoke to Paul, cell call was dropped, said he'd call back. Never did. I called him and set up an appointment for him to come and survey my job. He never showed up and never called to cancel. Not very professional. Needless to say, I'll use another contractor.

Paul Mariani was amazing. He contacted the township, the company that had originally installed the drainage system and the engineering group that inspected it. he had all of them there when it was raining and he was digging apart the system to pump it and determine what was wrong with it. He spent HOURS educating my clients and the sellers and communicating with township personnel BEFORE he was even awarded the job or even knew they were going to use him. he is amazingly ethical and will tell you the truth about what is going on. after my clients bought the home, he waterproofed the basement. I would never hesitate to hire Paul for any excavating job. He is a consumate professional.

My wife and I were very pleased with the recent excavation project by Mariani Enterprises. The project was completed as promised, good value for the job, and Paul Mariani Jr is very professional, always answered emails or cell phone calls quickly. We highly recommend them for your next project.

Never got a chance to have work completed by Mariani. Had a first appointment scheduled on Tuesday at 6pm. He called at lunch that day to reschedule because his wife's car broke down. We rescheduled for the next day, Wednesday at 6:30pm. At 7:00pm on Wednesday I get a call that he just got back from a job, forgot my information in his truck, and "obviously it's too late to come out tonight." Played phone tag that night but we rescheduled again for the following Monday at 9:30am. He said he'd send an email to confirm. Never got an email. At 10:00am Monday morning I texted to make sure he was still coming. The response was "Yes... in a mtg." I asked what time, waited, then told him I'd find someone else and thanks anyway. Never got a response. If you don't want the job, that's fine, but don't waste my time for a week and then blow me off at the end.

They were very detailed and the estimate was very reasonable. The interaction was great. It was a good day.

I consulted with Paul regarding a severe slope in the backyard of a home I am purchasing. He took great care to explain what my options are with the yard, and gave me some rough estimates on what it would cost to implement the various solutions. He was very responsive and patient, answering my many (probably stupid) questions easily, happily, and in layman's terms. He spoke with me on the phone for about 45 minutes actually. This in addition to going to the time he spent looking at the yard and evaluating its stability, comparing it to the neighbors', and looking for details that might indicate anything potentially dangerous. Details that I would never think of, like the condition of the driveways. Luckily he didn't find anything too bad. Other than a yard that needs a pretty big investment to make it really nice. But that's not his fault, and he even gave me ideas on how to minimize costs. After speaking with Paul, I asked a couple of engineers at my job what they thought of my situation, and they said the same things Paul did. His evaluation was spot on. In addition, he was a genuinely nice guy. We traded stories about our kids and he gave me some excellent advice. I'm saving up to use him in the future and would absolutely recommend him to anyone who needs to do work in their yard.

I called to schedule him for an estimate. He indicated to me that he was driving and asked, could I send him the information to his email or he would forget to get back to me. Not only did I email him the information, I also included pictures of the work/demolition area so he would have a general scope of the job. I never heard back from him. His work may be wonderful but his responsiveness is terrible. If you specifically ask a potential customer to contact you via different means than she has already contacted you, it seems the least you could do would be to respond.

Paul was very knowledgeable and provided excellent advice to correct a drainage problem (all of which turned out to be things I could do myself). He knew beforehand from our phone conversation that the issue would likely not require his services, yet he felt it best to make the 45 min trip out and review the situation visually. He refused to accept any reimbursement for his time/assessment.

The small side yard of my house had silted up over the foundation slab, so I needed someone to regrade that part of the property to get the soil away from the frame of the house and ensure proper drainage. Paul saw clearly what was required and made helpful suggestions about dealing with the trees in the yard as well as the soil. He was a little slow to provide me with a written estimate, but I can't blame him for that: our appointment took place just before one of the big late winter snowfalls, and he was busy plowing out his other clients. Though I decided to use a different contractor, I was impressed with his professionalism and would consider soliciting him for an estimate on other work in the future.

He was very knowledgeable and helpful in providing me with the necessary information. We did not end up needing his services since the negotiations had a different result, but I would have hired him and will consider him any future excavating needs.

We were very happy with all of the services provided by Marini Enterprises. I called several firms once we discovered the sinkhole in our driveway. Mariani services is the only company that called me back quickly when I explained it was an emergency situation. While sinkholes are not that common where we live in PA, Paul seemed to know exactly what to do to fix the problem. Mariani Enterprises put up a safety fence around the sinkhole right away. He determined the cause of the sinkhole and had the Township come out to take a look to make sure repairs were done according to any township guidelines. The next steps involved cutting the pavement around the sinkhole into a rectangular shape for repaving purposes. Paul brought in a backhoe to dig around the hole a bit and make sure it was stable and nothing else would collapse. Then flowable fill was added deep in the hole, followed by stone and soil. This was all compacted and graded smoothly for paving. Paul helped to line up a contractor to do the paving. Mariani Enterprises did an excellent job in repairing our sinkhole and providing a smooth graded surface where there had been a hole maybe 12 feet deep. While many contractors would have taken advantage of the emergency nature of the job, we felt like Paul Mariani's charges were reasonable for the work completed. We will definitely hire him again for other grading, drainage, excavation, or masonry projects we have.

Paul excavated a very difficult addition using care and knowledge to complete in a timely and professional manner. Paul completed the work on schedule and on budget.I will use Mariani enterprises again without question.

He was definitely responsive and was a conscientious guy to deal with. I still haven't made a decision on the job. It was reasonable.

Overall, we were extremely pleased with the professionalism, quality of work and diligence exhibited by Paul. He did a great job and really helped us out of a bind. We highly recommend Paul Mariani based on our experience with his excavating services. Here's why: 1) He was always prompt and courteous. 2) The work was finished on-time and in a timely fashion. Paul did what he said he was going to do and when he said he was going to do it. 3) As this was a wet-lands job, he obtained all the necessary permits and discussed the work with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, Delaware County Soil Conservation and the local Township officials. It was clear that he had a good, professional relationship with these officials, which made the job go fast. 4) Paul was responsive by answering / returning phone calls immediately and keeps us informed of the progress of the job. 5) Paul's final price was within his original estimate.

Paul helped our company out with an excavation project to go along with some electrical work we were having done. He was knowledgeable, professional, and worked well with the electrician to accomplish the project during off-hours. More than that, his prices were fair and his quality of work strong. I'd definitely recommend him to anyone looking.

Paul came over and walked around our property with me. He identified a number of issues that would need to be addressed and offered options on how to address - including general direction on how much the different options would cost. Because the yard was very uneven and we had done some construction, it wasn't clear how much top soil would be needed. Paul did a lot of work to estimate and then provided a not to exceed estimate. As the work was done, Paul was on site every day except one day that it was too muddy to work. The job took about 2.5 weeks. While doing the work, Paul reviewed where he was and any difficulties he had encountered along the way. Where there were issues, Paul always had solutions and he was able to keep it all within his original bid price. There was one area where his equipment tore up some roots on a large tree that I had warned him about, but other than that, everything was done to my satisfaction and we are very happy with the work done. I liked Paul's communication style and feel that he is very trustworthy. I highly recommend him - my neighbor is getting a quote from him now.
