Description of Work: Unable to get a hold of the provider for the work I need done. I got one reply on Angie's List asking if I still needed the work to which I replied yes and gave contact info, but have received no response after more than a week. I also left a voicemail. If I ever hear back I will update this review.

Response from BRAD BROWN ELECTRIC
It's funny, as it turns out I actually knew Andrew from the bus stop in grade school. After I saw this report I called him right then and there on the spot. We had a great estimate and I was looking forward to doing the job. The estimate was sent and he responded with a question about a something being included in the price. It was the busiest time of year and after all that I forgot to respond to his email question. So it was one of those situations where one seems destine to fumble the ball. That is still no excuse. I take pride in every part of the way I do business and I am passionate about getting back to people. I asked him to take this report down when I came to the first estimate and I'm not sure if he left it up because he forgot to take it down or because I never responded to his follow up question. Either way, My sincere apologies.

Description of Work: Excellent response to emergency electrical outage in 80% of house. Owner is disabled, so lighting is crucial. Initially believed to be circuit breaker problem, but turned out to require tracing outage to wire chewed by mice. Tracking required working in crowded quarters. Associate was quiet, cheerful, efficient. No $$ yet as additional smaller jobs to be performed this month,

Description of Work: This is an example of a provider who could have taken advantage of my lack of understanding of electricity beyond the basics, but instead gave me some free advice and saved me a service call. Brad himself answered when I phoned yesterday, (this was my first call to Brad Brown Electric). All the outlets on two walls of my kitchen weren't working. I described several symptoms that led up to the outage. Brad offered to come and check it out, but he also gave me the option to troubleshoot it myself. He described the steps to take and exactly what to do. Everything is working and back to normal. Brad was very pleasant on the phone and easily diagnosed the problem. I admired his professionalism and honesty. What he doesn't yet know is that we also need some other electrical work done: installing outlets in two fireplaces for gas inserts. We will ask him for an estimate - stay tuned...

Response from BRAD BROWN ELECTRIC
This is something that I try to avoid at all cost. Each Customer is important to me. When this gentlemen called it was literally the busiest time of the year. I truly do my best to return each phone or email. If I can't return the call with in 24 hours, I make an effort to call back when I can and apologize for not getting back to them. In this instance I did not do that and I do apologize.

It went fabulously.
Description of Work: We had a fancy imported ceiling fixture partly come apart. Brad came out late the afternoon after other jobs, assessed the situation and returned 2 days later (earlier than promised) to fix it, It went well and quickly, despite a rather unusual and annoying fixture design. Very professional and accommodating, as in past.

Description of Work: Organized a special appointment to have him review the job and quote which meant I had to take time out of my day to meet with him. He appeared to be professional albeit very young. He spent 30+ minutes revieweing and taking notes. He said he would be back to me in a couple of days and well before the end of the week with a quote. That's the last I heard from him

Response from BRAD BROWN ELECTRIC
Member! I am so sorry about this. I am hoping they will alert you that I have posted a response to your report. I totally understand how you feel and this was totally unintentional. When I originally got your voicemail I just called the number and scheduled the estimate to come take a look at the job with you. When I talked to you the first time I never took down your number, just your address (every so often I make this error and it always causes me problems but it's usually correctable). After I came to your condo and we spent time figuring out solutions, inspecting lights, and establishing a game plan, I looked back over my notes. I found no phone number......Then where I took your email address my Ipad's spell check replaced the email address with a different word - that's when knew I was in trouble. Next I scanned all my voicemails to try to find the original with your number but it turns out I erased a significantly sized group not long after our meeting. Then I started calling numbers from the caller id on my cell phone - about 15 to 20 and none of them were you. Next I googled your name and address and I couldn't find anything. I continually tried to find the number for the front desk of your building but I am guessing because of the style of condo building they don't make the number available to the general public. I have exhausted my self trying to find a way to get in touch. In the previous month I decided to schedule a silence/yoga retreat for memorial day weekend(this is one of my hobbies/passions). Up to the two hours before I left I was googling the name of your building and could only find Realtors numbers selling condos. As it turned out I had only one choice when it came time to leave for the mountains on Friday morning - to surrender and let it go until I return(which is a lot of what the retreat was about) I just got home today and saw this report after being in the field working today. I am truly sorry for this inconvenience and I take full responsibility for what has happened. I would still like to do the job for you if we can reconnect. I would never waste both our valuable time and just not respond or contact you. That would go against my principles and I do run my life and my business according to what I believe is doing the right thing and providing excellent service to people - that is what my passion is - that is why I am in business. I am going to contact Angie's list tomorrow and see if they can put me in touch with you. Again my deepest apologies. I assure you this was not intentional and I would still like to provide you with the original solutions we discussed on the day I came by. Hoping to get in touch soon, Brad

They did exceptional work!
Description of Work: Brad and Steve performed various services including installing GFI's in various locations, grounding the water meter, bonding hot, cold and gas pipes, installing two lights in the basement that had been at the top of the stairs, installing an additional junction box, and relocating outlet locations in the basement. Brad and Steve were very professional, personable, thorough, and highly competent. We highly recommend them and will continue to use Brad's services in the future.

Description of Work: My grand mom had an emergency with her electric box. She got an estimate from Some other electrician before she saw Brad. This other electrician found out it was an insurance claim eye balled the problem and slapped my grand mom with A price never explaining what the problem was or what caused it. Brad came out did a detailed inspection and found the cause of the problem turned out squirrels had caused the damage. Brad fixed the damage and took the steps to prevent it from happening again. He also came in under the cost of my grand mom's first estimate.

Description of Work: I contracted with Verizon to have Fios installed. Someone there told me I needed an outlet within 10 feet of the main circuit breaker box (there were as many answers from Verizon as people I talked to). I called Brad, prepared to have him install an outlet, having vaguely remembered a conversation the first time he was here when he asked me if I wanted an outlet in that part of the basement and I couldn't think of a reason I would need one so said no. Brad said that he remembered that I indeed did have an outlet in that area, not as close as Verizon told me , but at least there was one, and it could be used with an extension cable if necessary. If a separate outlet was really needed, he could come over after the holidays. Skeptic that I am, I had him stay on the phone line while I went to the basement, and sure enough, there was an outlet that looked usable. Bottom line was Verizon was able to use this outlet with no extra cables or extension cords and I didn't need a new one. Brad's memory on MY basement was better than mine and he saved me money by not immediately agreeing with Verizon that I needed to spend more money unnecessarily. That's professionalism!

Description of Work: Brad and Steve were very prompt, professional, courteous and did a great job changing out a recessed light in my shower and installing a recessed fan light. they also had to re-configure the panel to change the circuit breaker to a GFI. They did not complain despite having to go into my attic during the heat wave in July thorough a small crawl space.I would definitely use Brad again!!

Response from BRAD BROWN ELECTRIC
Ah yes, an opportunity to view a customers opinion with understanding and compassion. I can understand why he thought that. He wanted me to change a light fixture and install a timer. It is important to know that I never did this job. I told him it would be $125 to change a light fixture and modify a group of switches. To add the time I spent talking to him, clarifying the situation and explaining what kind of fixture he had and how it would work with the photocell installed is relevant. Once we had the whole situation thoroughly figured out he had his information and a solid plan I told him it would be $125. I could sense that was more than he expected. Then I said, well think about it and give me a call. I knew he wasn't going to use me and I was happy to help him. I certainly didn't think he would write that. Especially considering that I didn't do the job. My work is my practice for life and my commitment to integrity is unmovable. I do not see the world through a lens of dollars and cents - I see it through a lens of passion and principles which are conducive to living a balanced, happy life. A response like that is grist for the mill of owning and operating an awakened business.

Description of Work: Called Brad Brown for an electrical problem in the kitchen. He answered the phone, discussed the problem, called back to schedule the very next day. Responsiveness was outstanding! Brad and his assistant John arrived promptly, and they diagnosed a mal functioning GFI outlet and a bad breaker. Their professionalism, cleanliness, communications, and personableness were outstanding! They completed the work within an hour and the total cost was fair. I'll happily use them again without hesitation, They are young, attentive, and very capable.
